In Japan, not yet. Meanwhile in the US, I don't know, it might be a part of Robotech, but I'm sure. Maybe someone can fill me in.

*Rubs his eyes.* I thought it was a 7. Razz Any hoot, this is what's listed on CD Japan. In the US, Macross: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross has been released on DVD and can be order on AnimEigo site. ADV said they are releasing of Macross in sub/uncut format on DVD, but then again, this ADV we are talking about, but ADV has released Robotech on DVD.

Here's the skinny...
Macross as far as the US knows is the first part of Robotech (with the other two being Southern Cross and Mospeada). It kind of still holds the same story as the original Japanese with a few tweaks here and there.
Like Ataru said, Animego has released DVD's of the original TV series in an uncut and Japanese-language only (with English subtitles, of coarse).
As far as the rest of Macross, there is the Macross Plus DVD's (2 of em for the OAV or one for the movie) and the Macross II DVD from Manga Entertainment.
As far as Macross 7 goes, I highly doubt they will ever bring that here, so good luck finding a fan-sub.

Supposedly, the reason for Mac7 not being licensed is the cost of licencing ALL of the songs they sing in the series.

It could be cheaper, I suppose, if they re-did the songs in America... but fans wouldn't like that, and there'd be issues with respect to the Japanese language track. ;)

How could I forget Macross Plus. Do'h. Razz

As far as the Manga, the only place I can remeber where selling them is at Robotech.com and Ebay, so as you imagine, it's pretty rare.

Umm...I live in the US. I love my original Macross box set

::looks at both full sets of Macross and Robotech::

I personally would rather see Macross Zero come out before Marcorss 7. But you never know.

Yeah macross zero is so awesome. The animation is top notch. I especially like the part in the first ep where you get to see the complete transformation of a VF. I almost messed myself after seeing that!

Other Macross titles not mentioned yet are the movie, Macross: Do you Remember Love? and Macross Flashback 2012. I've been waiting for the movie to come out domestically (and unedited, not that Clash of the Bionoids thing) for a very, very long time... Confused

Thanks, Ramen, I forgot those two. Anyway, I had a question, what version of DYRL is the Best Video one? I've have the tape and it doesn't seem unedited (There is the bloody Millia/Miriya rampage and the infamous Minmay Shower scene, plus all of the original names are there), is that still called Clash of the Bionoids?

Yes, I think the Best Video version is Clash of the Bionoids. I'm pretty sure it is edited. I assume you have the dub?

Edited? Really? I could of sworn with all the blood and boobs, it was the unedited version... hmm we should have someone investigate

Anyway, yeah, I have the dub... THE REALLY, REALLY, BAD Dub. Although I think the Patlabor TV dub might be worse...

Wasn't "Do you Remember Love" edited and called Robotech the Movie?
