Better this than being completely cut out, I guess. The first movie was actually brilliant, considering the amount of chapters it adapted in such a short time frame.

I truly don't understand the decision of going this route instead of proper TV seasons. It's been years since Haikyuu ended and it's still hugely popular, to a degree that no other sports anime that's come afterwards has matched (Blue Lock seems to be on that track but it's not quite there yet). Is a movie cheaper to produce than a full season of TV? Is Shueisha hoping to recreate the Mugen Train phenomenon? Did they receive negative feedback about the Shiratorizawa season being too stretched out for just one volleyball game? I'll reckon the Garbage Dump movie was superb, but I would've loved to see that game -that the whole show had been building towards- get more time to breathe and give us a proper sendoff of the Nekoma characters, most of whom didn't get a lot of time to shine in the film

I'm really pleased that we'll have two projects covering these matches, although I enjoyed the dumpster battle movie I felt it was too rushed and missed alot of the iconic moments from the manga. I was dreading just more movies that also cut out material and seemed to downplay the atmosphere that was captured brilliantly in manga format. I look forward to seeing these and hope they compare to the manga.
