I was wondering if any of you could tell me of any sci fi animes which are pretty good.

I'm kinda looking for something like Outlaw Star but with the kinda of humour or less seriesness approach like on tenchi

No giant robot stuff either please, uber space piratey stuff Smile

thanks

This was the first show that popped into my mind when reading the initial post.

Really funny sci-fi show. Non-stop comedy with a really sattisfying story. If you want a good war story, that takes place in space, with lots of laughs, Tylor is your man.

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor

I haven´t seen the OAV, but I have seen the TV.

I would have to say cowboy bebop. The characters are more cowboys than they are pirates, but it still should get you hooked. Most of the series takes place in space so there is lots of "Sci-Fi" stuff. Not the most funniest anime ever made but there a quite a few laughs during the series

I have to agree with Otaku-Sensei, cowboy bebop has a very sophisticated humour about it. It’s also fantastic and beyond words.

I'm going to recomend Cowboy Bebop as well. It happens in space, but in a very realistic manner. I have to say, I think it's overrated (or I'm not getting the full effect of it) but I still think it's a series worth watching. Like Otaku-Sensei said, it's not the funniest, but some parts are just great in terms of comedy (a whole episode is pretty much jsut comedic). Overall, very lighthearted with a deep shadow.

Vandread is a comical series that takes place in the future. Human kind ventured and colonized off of planet earth. In the mix of that, men and woman seperated. They seem pretty prejudice towards each other too.
Meanwhile some space pirate ladies get stranded away from their planet for over 200 days along the way they pick up 3 male prisoners. Thus the comedy begins.
There are some battle scenes with robots but they are rather quick. I don't care much for that stuff myself . Vandread is worth watching.

I'm gonna have to agree with the majority in saying that Cowboy Bebop would be an excellent choice for you. Also, you might wanna check out Dead Leaves. You could definitely classify it as Sci-Fi as it deals with clones and genetic defects, and it takes place in space as well, but be warned, it has a lot of violent and sexual imagery, however it is very funny at times, and is probably one of the most original animated movies I've seen to this day, definitely not for everyone though. I've never seen Outlaw Star, so I'm just going by your request for a sci fi anime taking place in space and having some humour in it, but... hopefully I've still helped out a little

I agree with Dubby.
Vandread is a pretty good anime if you want humor, space, and pirate like things. And alos since you like Tenchi you would like Vandread.Three guys venturing through space on a ship filled with women. Very Happy

last exile but there's nothing humorous about it but it's very exiting and love the adventure type. the art is perfect and not yet seen in other anime. and the characters profile are really attached to the anime.

Cowboy Bebop is awesome. It's got some great comedy and I'd have to say it's more of a dry humor. The mushroom episode may be the best. I recommend this anime to anyone who has never watched anime.

Vandread is good. I liked how two different societies had to co-exist for a common goal. Hibiki and Dita's interactions are hilarious and awkward at times. I even cried at an episode spoiler[The one where Bart got the doll].

I'd also reccomend you check out Martian Successor Nadesico. It's along the same lines as Vandread in comedy style. The Gekiganger 3 show they watch in it is great. Reminded me of watching Voltron when I was a little kid.

I'd recommend Tenchi Universe too if you haven't seen that series of Tenchi. I like the story in it better than in the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki series. But the tenchi theme songs have to be some of the worse of all time. Razz

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
It's a sci-fi twist on a modern tale. Also it Won best anime last year if I do recall, I would defintely check it out if you are at all interested in the series, or the book. Only problem with this is that it isn't a comedy it's a drama, but if you decide on something more dramatic check it out.
One of my favorite stories of all time, I love this story how powerful it is.

I second, third, four, and infinite all mentions to Cowboy Bebop the ultimate flick, that can be watch from any episode.
Till next time,

Delta Kiral
