Hi.
I just want to know what the majority of the anime fans think about "getting excited with cartoons". I had some very bad experiences when some persons made fun of my friends and i telling "you should care abour real women, get a life" and that kind of things. So ¿do you think it's ridiculous to get excited with drawings? Most of the people here in my country think that hentai fans are even sick persons, also people associate hentai with pedophilia and other things, which make most of hentai fans to feel ashamed of their condition, so most of them don't tell about their hobbies to anyone others than the ones who share their likes (in the past, even general anime fans were considered sick persons, but that's another story). ¿What happens in your countries? ¿are hentai fans looked as sick or dangerous persons? I also want to know if you: Are a hentai fan and have no problem with telling it to anyone. Are a hentai fan but are ashamed of telling it to persons who may not understand it. Think that us, the hentai fans, should get a life and care about real things. Understand hentai fans but don't share their likes abour hentai. I myself am a hentai fan, but i really don't tell about this to everyone (and i tell this here cause i know that here everyone at least knows what anime is and you can't come here to burn my shleves  ). I'm not really ashamed of my condition but i feel afraid of the fact that people could associate me with pedophilia or anything else, i also know that some people think it's ridoculous or funny and i prefer to avoid experiences like the one i told you before.
Madarame explained (in Genshiken) very well the "hentai concept" to a non-anime-or-hentai-fan in one episode, if i remember the words i will edit this. Also ¿how have been your experiences trying to explain about your likes (hentai) to persons who don't understand it? Bye bye and thanks. I prefer pornographic doujinshi as opposed to animated hentai. So in a way I am a hentai fan. I don't know if I'm really open about it though, I mean I don't meet people on the street and say, "Hey, you know what, I like pornographic Japanese Cartoons." Nor would I say that to someone who asks me what my interests are. So I don't really see how that kind of information could leak out unless you watch hentai in public or something, which I don't really consider appropriate to do anyway. I keep my stash of doujinshi in a safe place so nobody ever really sees them either. I don't really see that many people associating hentai with pedophilia. More often people in the US confuse lolicon and pedophilia, which is pretty common actually. In fact I've even seen a few fansubs translate lolicon as pedophila, which really gets on my nerves.

Wow... I never knew that about you. That's horrible. The only thing that anybody ever sees about me liking animated girls are the posters of them on my wall. My family is pretty open so they're cool with it. My circle of friends primarily revovle around anime so they also don't mind them. I don't much care for it. I won't judge you for it because well most of us have seen porn in some form or another. But I don't like the fact people watch it in public. A guy at school, I'm in college, is always watching or reading hentai on his laptop in the middle of the student center. I consider it rather perverted and the fact that it may offend some people, not me, and a lot of older students take their kids to school so I'm pretty sure the parents would be pissed if the kids saw what was going on. I've never watched hentai but I am curious as to how the sex act is portrayed so if the oppurtunity shows up one day I'll try it.
hentai4anime your post make me real sad. You've posted that on other posts and I can't help but feel sad on how you might feel but you are also proof that life can still go on no matter what. |

Oh, i think i dind't express myself very well.
I didn't mean to "watch hentai in public", what i meant was that, often, people hide his hentai magazines, for example, more than if they were normal porn magazines. I hope you understand it 
And i think it's at least hard that people look at you as a sick, i remember that, when i was in the school, even the teachers tought i was sick and needed psychological help

I've actually never watched any hentai. The closest I've gotten is the copy of Wicked City that I own which is one of my favorites.
Even if I were big into hentai, I don't think I would be to gung ho about letting the world know. Not because I'd be afraid of perception, but because what I do in the privacy of my own home is my business. If you dig it, that's cool. If not, then that's cool as well. |

I like hentai. I'm cool with that. I'm comfortable telling people that, more or less. But it is porn, so I'm no more or less comfortable about it than I would be about other types of porn. I definitely wouldn't watch it in public or anything like that, that's just inconsiderate to those around me.

I personaly prefer real porn. I'm not a big fan of hentai, most of it I can't stand. Every once in a while I'll start to watch hentai than remember "Ohh yea I forgot, I don't like this". Mostly because It's just too wierd. Overall, I don't really care what people think of me, as I say "As long as it doesn't harm anyone, what you do behind closed doors is your own buisness." And if people want to judge you for it, that's their own buisness.

I wouldn't call myself a fan at all really, I've seen 9 hentai titles personally, only 3 of which were actually good, 4 were borderline, and 2 were just plain horrible. I don't go for any of that non-consentual garbage like rape, bondage, blackmail, or tenticals so that rules out the majority of the genre for me, and I don't like seeing women taken advantage of against their will even if it's just animated fantasy.
As for my openness with who I tell I've seen them? Only anonomous people on message boards like ourselves. I'm not really one for pornography to begin with anyway. |

I don't see the big dael about Hantia, porn is porn no matter how you look at it. I sit down and watch Hentia sometimes but who doesn't. If you ever said you never watch Hentai your a liar, in one point in you life you watched Hentia or seen pics of Hentai. It is nothing to be a shame of.

Actually when I saw/read that scene it made me look at hentai more positivley. I can't directly quote it but he basically said that despite it being a drawing the human brain still makes the connection that the drawing is a human figure because it recognizes basic symbols and translates them. After that he proceeds to say that they even had pornographic figures in the Edo period and that those who can't get off to hentai are either lying or have defective brains (which was hilarious). It was wierd when I first heard it because it made so much sense and because of that I'm actually accepting of hentai. Many people just don't understand it. When people who watch and enjoy hentai the way I guess it is meant to be enjoyed, despite the characters (especially women) having exaggerated figures the brain still makes the connection of seeing a curvacious woman that is basically the epitome of sexual fantasy. Bottom line is, even though it is animated, it is still two people (I'm not considering tentacles or any other wild staples of hentai, that's a different subject) who are both respectively very well endowed having sex. Looking at it that way it's not that much different than regular porn. It is simply a form of indulging carnal fantasy. In fact, in one light I can see hentai as being easier to get off to than regular porn because in some ways, it is much more graphic. With hentai you can express contracting muscles and bring out all kinds of subtley that I don't believe porn can really show no matter what the angle. I don't think you need to be ashamed of liking hentai, but I wouldn't parade that fact around either. If the situation ever comes up then if you care to you can explain why. It's all about the connection the brain makes with the images. Just for a comparison although I'm not sure how close it is, look at how many people thought Jessica Rabbit was sexy. Hell they commented on that fact on VH1 and you don't see them catching any flak for it. |

let me just say this(its OT but so very important) drugs, even if you dont care about the damage they can do to yourself think about the damage they can do to other people around you. My wife, Sarah, and Daughter, Nina, who was 3 for f***s sake! were killed by a driver who was high on some kind of drugs. but I've adapted as best I can and talking annonymously is meant to help(according to all the leaflets). now back on topic. hentai is porn, how often do you talk about porn with other people? If I ever were to talk about porn I'd have no qualms raising hentai. but I am with kruszer, I detest rape, paedeophilia, bondage and tentacles. Sadly it is the staple of many hentai which rules a lot of titles out. what hentai needs is someone to make a romance story like ai yori aoshi and have the relationships develop into something physical naturally. shin angel tried it and wasn't too bad at all, I can actually watch that for the enjoyment of characters coming together. to me hentai's next big step is to leave the martial arts genre behind. what you say? Martial arts? well in a martial arts film you are watching to see the cool martial arts and story becomes secondary as an excuse for them. Hnetia needs to become than this, who has ever watched tenchi muyo or love hina and wanted to see the characters eventually get together in more than just a kiss or something. essentially to save the genre we need someone to come out and create a strong romance story with hentai scenes rather than a hentai with a weak romance plotline. |
