07-Ghost (TV) Good Pretty good for a bishounen. If there's a second season, I'd watch it.
5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Very good I actually thought the last five minutes were strong enough to stand on their own.
A-Channel (TV) Very good Solid slice of life anime that never got too boring thanks to its length.
Aa Megami-sama: Tatakau Tsubasa (special) So-so It was a bit too short, the comedy was fairly out of place, and the overall plot seemed rushed. The character development was also rushed. It wasn't bad, but it's not something I'd really recommend, unless you're a fan of the series.
After War Gundam X (TV) Weak Boring, repetitive, predictable, and overall weak. This is only a hair better than Gundam Wing. It also wins the award for one of the worst ending songs ever.
Ah My Buddha (TV) So-so The entire series was fairly run-of-the-mill. Nothing really stood out, and there weren't enough scenes with Hinata.
Ah! My Goddess (TV) Good Very pleasant and uplifting story. It also has one of my favorite seiyuu in it (Kikuko Inoue).
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Good Worth seeing if you liked Ah! My Goddess. It's mainly just a small continuation/backstory on Belldandy.
Air (TV) Excellent Probably one of the most touching anime's I've ever seen.
Aki Sora (OAV) Good I knew this was an incest anime, but I was surprised at exactly how graphic it actually was. It's pretty much borderline hentai. Overall, the story itself isn't terribly bad, and I found myself willing to watch more despite not necessarily being into hentai.
Aki Sora: Yume no Naka (OAV) Decent Same as the last one. Nothing really advancing the story much.
Akira (movie) Very good A classic cyberpunk movie
Allison & Lillia (TV) Good The first half was amazing, and I really felt it could have been a Masterpiece if it had stayed that way. However, the second half with Lillia was a little flat, IMO.
Amatsuki (TV) Good It had a very good story, but I just wish it was longer. I might pick up the manga and start reading it.
Angel Beats! (TV) Excellent As expected from the guys at Key, they made a great anime. At first, I wasn't too into it, especially with the somewhat drab comedy. However, it got pretty good towards the end, and the last episode was great. Definitely worth checking out.
Angel Sanctuary (OAV) Decent It's kinda like an incest version of Romeo and Juliet, along with some religious fluff added. It's decent, but I think it would have been better remaining in manga form.
Angelic Layer (TV) Decent This series is the epitome of the word "decent." It's not good, but it's not terribly bad. "Mediocre" might suit it a bit better. Also, Misaki's accent started to really get on my nerves as time went on.
anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV) Very good The ending was a bit annoying, but the overall story was pretty good.
Aoi Bungaku Series (TV) Good A great way for people to get to know more classic Japanese literature. While it's not as in depth as the actual works, it gives a fairly good taste of the literary works themselves.
Apocalypse Zero (OAV) Bad Talk about an awful anime.... I expected that, however. I only watched this anime as it was supposed to be the "goriest" anime out there. They were kinda right (I thought Elfen Lied had more blood and violence).... However, the worst part about this was not the crappy story line. It was the fact that the anime could have continued and ended with just one more episode. Instead, however, they just left you hanging at the end.
Appleseed (movie) Decent Fairly stock anime. Has everything you'd expect in a standard "Humans are evil, but we'll overcome it," type of movie. I wasn't a big fan of the character design, but the background and mecha artwork were pretty nice.
Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie) So-so Artwork was better than the previous movie. However, overlooking the fact that they changed voice actors, it was not a very good movie. The plot was SO cliché, I almost felt ill watch it. I also felt John Woo shouldn't have been on the project. I can only recommend this to hardcore fans.
Ar Tonelico (OAV) So-so The animation was mediocre, the voice acting was sub-par, and the overall story was too confusing, given the short amount of time they had. With that said, I kinda wanna try out the RPG now.
Armitage III (OAV) Decent I loved the classic artwork in this anime, and the story is good too. I just wish it was expanded upon.
Attack on Titan (TV) Excellent Basically the anime that's taking 2013 by storm. Super popular, and for good reason. The entire show is pretty much a lesson in cliffhangers that keep you coming back for more.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent My favorite comedy anime.
Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts (TV) Decent Decent and short enough to check out if you're bored. Nothing really new, though.
Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts 2 (TV) Decent I didn't think it was as good as the first one, but it wasn't too bad.
Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts OVA Good Still fairly good, albeit predictable. I'll be catching the second season for sure.
Bakemonogatari (TV) Very good Whether it was due to lack of staff, to push DVD sales or all of the above, the whole "scene cut due to xx" thing was fairly annoying. It could have reached close to masterpiece status if they wouldn't have had to resort to that stuff every time. Still a great anime if you're looking for that odd, psychological thing.
Bakuman. (TV) Very good It's not often that you see a show based around mangaka. It's a fairly refreshing story that kept me interested throughout, and I'll definitely catch the next series.
Bakuman. 2 (TV) Very good Continuation of where Bakuman left off. Good pacing and continues as normal. I'll be checking out the next in the series for sure.
Bakuman. 3 (TV) Good Just like the last two, it's simply a continuation. It's nice to see the story play out, but nothing terribly amazing or shocking happens
Bamboo Blade (TV) Very good Great Kendo slice-of-life anime with very few dull moments. The comedy and light-hearted pace really helped separate this from other shows involving martial arts.
Banner of the Stars (TV) Good Great sci-fi anime!
Banner of the Stars II (TV) Decent Much like the first one, but a little more boring.
Banner of the Stars III (OAV) Good Another continuation. Its shortness lead to it keeping my attention longer.
Basilisk (TV) Very good Depression samuai/shinobi anime that I really enjoyed. Lots of blood in this one. It's basically a shinobi Romeo and Juliet.
Berserk (TV 1997) Excellent Talk about an amazing anime. I just wish it would have a sequel....
Beyond the Boundary (TV) Excellent Great glasses fetish anime. Really hope they make another season
Birdy the Mighty Decode:02 (TV) So-so I really didn't mind the quality of the artwork on the first season, but this second season has some of the worst artwork I've ever seen. It's like they didn't even bother trying...
Birdy the Mighty: Decode (TV) Good The anime is pretty solid, but I thought the ending was pretty predictable.
Black Lagoon (TV) Excellent An anime where you follow the bad guys. Great story!
Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail (OAV) Very good Still top notch, but the spacing of the episodes was really annoying.
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV) Excellent Black Lagoon with even more badass-ness. Loli-incest-vampires, Yakuza, Russian Mafia.... What more could you ask for?!
Blade of the Immortal (TV) Decent Decent pretty much sums up this entire series. The ending was a pretty big letdown, too.
Blood+ (TV) Very good I enjoyed this spin-off of the original Blood movie. It had a lot of substance, and the action/story of this particular show outshined the small, boring parts in the series.
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie) Decent Pretty decent. It was very short though....
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Decent Mind-numbingly stupid, but I rated it decent anyway. It takes slapstick comedy to the extreme.
Blue Exorcist (TV) Very good Very good anime that seemed to remain strong throughout the series. I'd definitely continue to watch it if it gets a sequel, but if it does, I hope it doesn't turn out to be something like Bleach or Naruto...
Bodacious Space Pirates (TV) Decent It wasn't a bad show, but nothing really happened until the last few episodes. Don't expect anything amazing, but it'll at least keep you occupied for a bit.
Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru: Secret Sweethearts - Kono Koi wa Himitsu (OAV) Decent Spoiler Alert: The biggest issue I had with this OAV was that she was crying over him moving. She could easily just take the Shinkansen on the weekends and meet him. Either way, not that bad of a love story.
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan Second (OAV) Decent More craziness from Dokuro-chan!
BPS - Battle Programmer Shirase (TV) Decent Nothing amazing, but it's not bad. Short, though.
Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 (TV) Very good THE definition of "cybperpunk."
Bungaku Shōjo (movie) Good It was fairly short. Overall, the story wasn't bad; in fact, it was fairly original, so that was refreshing. I'm not sure if I like it enough to read the novels, but it's worth checking out.
Bunny Drop (TV) Excellent If this isn't the definition of "moe," then I don't know what is. It sure beats the hell out of the cookie cutter K-On and whatnot shows lately.
CANAAN (TV) So-so A lot of people rated this real high, but I thought it was pretty boring. The first few episodes were nice, but it got real bland after that.
Candy Boy (ONA) Very good I really enjoyed this series. Good slice-of-life love story between two sisters in college. About the only complaint I had was the short length, but since there's going to be a sequel, it shouldn't matter too much.
Capeta (TV) Excellent One of the few actual racing anime out there, and it's great from start to finish.
Cardcaptor Sakura (TV) Good Pretty long. Consistent, but long. Overall, it was a good story, even if it is oriented more towards children. I would have at least liked a little fan service, but in the end, it's a fairly solid show.
Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie 2: The Sealed Card Very good Feels more like a movie than the last one. Great to see Sakura again, and it's a wonderful way to wrap up the entire Cardcaptor Sakura story. A must-see for CCS fans.
Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie Very good Very nice to see one of my favorite lolis again. Felt exactly like the TV show, paced fairly well, and would probably be a great way to introduce someone to the series. Definitely worth seeing.
A Certain Magical Index (TV) Good The story is extremely convoluted with plot holes galore, but it's a really good series. I'll definitely be watching more if they release it.
A Certain Magical Index II (TV) Very good The plot seems even more confusing than the last time. That said, it was one of the better shows this season, hence the rating being a little higher.
Chaos;HEAd (TV) So-so The anime was going great for the first few episodes, but it sharply went downhill. I'm not sure if it was rushed or what, but the last few episodes were horrendous. At least some of the metal-esque insert music was good.
Chobits (TV) Decent I rated this "decent" for one reason. It had absolutely no real plot until the last couple of episodes. Then, all the sudden, we're have this story shoved into our faces and the series ends.... The acting, small slice-of-life thing it had going on was very enjoyable, but the ending totally turned me off. I would have either liked no story at all, or have the the "story" introduced earlier.
Chrono Crusade (TV) Very good A great story with an ending that really made this anime. The ending really makes you think. It seemed that they tried a little too hard to make the story seem "real" though.
Clannad (movie) Awful Talk about being complete trash! Besides being totally different from the VN, the entire atmosphere changed! It reminds me of the X Movie vs the X TV series. There's no need to watch this at all - even for hardcore Clannad fans.
Clannad (TV) Very good Way better than the horrible movie. This followed the VN very closely and was almost as good. P.S. - Sunohara = most epic VN character on the face of this planet.
Clannad After Story (TV) Excellent I'm glad they continued the story with After Story. I got lazy and never played this part of the game, but I knew what was going to happen. That said, I can't tell if the last episode was part of the ending in the game? I would have preferred it one way or the other.
Claymore (TV) Good Very solid anime throughout the whole series. I thought the ending was somewhat weak, though. Also, I think a sequel (which the ending hinted at) might be moving the series towards redundancy, but who knows! Either way, very solid anime.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) Excellent Wonderful anime that should be in anyone's collection if you're into action/drama/mecha. And remember, "NIPPON BANZAI!!!!! Brought to you by Pizza Hut."
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (TV) Masterpiece I wasn't expecting it to actually be BETTER than the first season. Plot twists galore! This series is probably the masterpiece of the decade.
Comic Party (TV) Good This was a nice little Genshiken-kinda anime.
Corpse Princess: Aka (TV) Decent It's firmly decent. The story was kinda average, and some of the seiyuu were really weak. Dunno if I'm going to continue the series.
Cosplay Complex (OAV) So-so Way too many unfinished ideas.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Masterpiece Classic
Crest of the Stars (TV) Very good This is my favorite of the series. It really shows the true nature of the characters and the warmth behind the initially cold Lafiel.
C³ (TV) Good It was entertaining, but there's simply way too much story for this to be shoved into 12 episodes. It started to get very rushed towards the end.
D-Frag! (TV) Good It can kinda waver a bit, but it was pretty decent throughout and kept me watching until the end.
Daimaju Gekito Hagane no Oni (OAV) Not really good Pretty weak overall, but the music wasn't bad. Not really recommended.
Dance in the Vampire Bund (TV) Decent The story can get a bit haphazard at times, and the artwork can be iffy, especially when it comes to the BG characters. It's not a bad story, though. However, I was fairly disappointed that they blocked out some of the loli on national TV.
Darker than Black (TV) Very good Extremely solid series with great characters. Top notch production with a good story makes for an anime that everyone should check out. I actually wish there was more to the series.
Darker than Black - Kuro no Keiyakusha: Gaiden (OAV) Good It helped explain a few things between the first and second series, but it was still somewhat hard to follow.
Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor (TV) Good Not as good as the last season. For one, it was shorter. It was also a bit more convoluted in the storyline than the last one. The last episode seemed fairly rushed, as well.
Deadman Wonderland (TV) Very good Nice amounts of gore, decent story and keeps up the pace enough to make you want to keep watching. If there's a second season, I'll most likely watch it.
Death Note (TV) Masterpiece I had some real trouble rating this. On one hand, the anime is filled to the brim of epic proportions. On the other hand, there were some major flaws I disliked about it (the two new characters they introduced towards the middle, for example). In the end, the ending really struck me, and I was hooked throughout the series...despite the drawbacks. It was good enough for me to consider a Masterpiece.
Demonbane (OAV) Weak It was so haphazardly arranged that it's not even worth seeing.
Detroit Metal City (OAV) Very good Japan's Metalocalypse, only it's better.
(The) Devil Is a Part-Timer! (TV) Good The series is very solid, and it has lots of potential to continue going on. Definitely worth checking out if you're into this kind of thing.
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation (TV) Good They did a decent job at trying to convey the story of the game, but it's really more of an experience that should be done via the game and not an anime. There's a lot of depth that's missing.
Dojin Work (TV) Good It's very much like Comic Party, but I found it to be a bit funnier. Then again, I'm a sucker for the otaku-oriented stories. If you enjoyed anime like Cosplay Complex, Comic Party, Genshiken, etc., you should enjoy this.
Dragon Ball (TV) Good It's a pretty solid anime, and thinking about it always brings back great memories as a kid. Classic, but it's a bit dated.
Dragon Ball GT (TV) Decent A lot of people really disliked this compared to Z, but I thought it was roughly on-par with its predecessor.
Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy (special) Decent A final farewell. It wasn't really needed, but it was decent enough to keep me entertained.
Dragon Ball Movie 1: Curse of the Blood Rubies So-so The movie is a bit too short and rushed. They tried to combine a lot of story into less than an hour, and the pacing was just way off. That said, it's not terrible.
Dragon Ball Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle Decent The pacing was better than the last one. Nothing amazing, but it was interesting enough for the 40 minutes or however long it was.
Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure So-so It started out nice, but the pacing, order of events and pretty much everything else got way crazy.
Dragon Ball Movie 4: The Path to Power Decent It's not bad. The story was changed up a bit, and they tried to throw a lot in a small time frame, but it wasn't too terrible.
Dragon Ball Z (TV) Good Biggest issue was that it went on for a LONG time. The filler also didn't really add much to it, either. Still, pretty solid, and it's a classic in anime history.
Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku (special) So-so A look into the past regarding Goku's real father. Nothing really special.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (movie) So-so On the one hand, DBZ is back. On the other hand, the pacing sucks, and the new SS form is pretty lame. I'd probably rate it lower if not for nostalgia.
Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly (movie 11) Not really good Similar to the last one. Only real reason to watch this is to see Trunks give the finger to Broly.
Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound (movie 9) Decent Fairly solid, and it's nice to see Gohan a lot of the fighting once in awhile. Kinda "done before" with the whole tournament thing though.
Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming (movie 10) Not really good If you're into the lighter hearted side of DB, you might like this quite a bit. I was hoping it would be a bit more serious, though. It's not necessarily a bad movie, but I wouldn't call it good, either.
Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan (movie 8) Decent Pretty decent and solid overall. The ending wasn't exactly what I had hoped, but it's fine.
Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge (movie 5) Good It's cool seeing Cooler for the first time. Not quite as good as the second one, but they're pretty close, so I rated them the same.
Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone (movie 1) So-so Used to watch this all the time as a kid. It's average; the other movies are a lot better.
Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn (movie 12) So-so Really not sure what to make of this movie. On the one hand, we have Gogeta, which rules. On the other hand, we have...Hitler?!
Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug (movie 4) So-so Was average at best. Didn't really seem to get into it for whatever reason.
Dragon Ball Z: Plan to Destroy the Saiyajin (OAV) Decent It's a bit more on the serious side. Nothing worth running out to watch, but it was decent in its own right.
Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13! (movie 7) Decent It's pretty decent overall. Better than most, but not my favorite.
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks (special) Good Goes into more detail regarding Trunks' past. I thought it was pretty cool.
Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler (movie 6) Good This is one of the better movies, and I also think it's the more popular of the two Cooler films. Nice pacing, solid story.
Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might (movie 3) Decent The first Dragon Ball Z movie I ever rented at the local video store. Kept me entertained, but I prefer the later movies.
Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest (movie 2) Decent Better pacing than some of the earlier movies, and while it didn't seem to add much to the overall story, it was still worth checking out.
Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon (movie 13) Decent Nice to see how Trunks got his sword. Also nice to see them switch up and be a bit more serious this time.
Dragon Ball: Goku's Fire Fighting Regiment (special) Not really good It's just an educational program that they made. Not really worth watching.
Dragon Ball: Yo! The Return of Son Goku and Friends!! (ONA) Decent Yeah, it's fluff, but it's nice to see everyone again. I was enjoyable to watch, I thought.
Durarara!! (TV) Very good It's definitely one of the more unique shows out there. It stayed fairly solid throughout and never got boring. If you want something a bit different, it's worth checking out.
Eden of the East (TV) Good A solid anime, but the plot has a lot of holes. Hopefully we'll see those explained in the two movies coming out.
Eden of the East: Paradise Lost (movie) Very good They really wrapped up quite a bit in this one. I heard a lot of people disliked it, but I'm not sure entirely why. The ending was particularly intriguing. Better than the last movie, I thought.
Eden of the East: The King of Eden (movie) Good Continuing on the path of the previous show, it has the same issues. There are lots of holes and sudden developments in this that aren't really explained. Also, not a lot happened during the movie. We'll see how the second installment goes...
Eien no Aseria (OAV) Decent I'm sure a lot of people rated this down because it has no real ending. The biggest issue I had with it was that it was too short. It's also surprising how it's based off of an eroge, yet this OAV contains nothing sexual at all. Not good, but not bad, either.
El Cazador de la Bruja (TV) Good Likeable characters with an amazing soundtrack. It's a solid anime with good pacing. However, I felt they could have gone without the last episode and placed the plot of epi. 26 in place of the ending of epi. 25. Nothing totally unique, but it's worth seeing.
Elfen Lied (TV) Excellent Touching and gory. What more could you ask for?
Elfen Lied (OAV) Good Cute. Not really Elfen Lied though.
Engaged to the Unidentified (TV) Very good Cute and funny. Short enough to keep you interested throughout too
Ergo Proxy (TV) Very good An interesting psychological-based anime. It was a very odd, yet intriguing anime worth seeing, even if you're not into the whole psychological genre.
Eureka Seven (TV) Excellent Great story! The only thing that prevented it from being a Masterpiece was the fact that someone was crying in almost every episode.
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (movie) Excellent It's refreshing seeing one of the series that really got me into anime. Story is the same as always, and it's executed very well. However, I'm not too sure about the new graphical look. Sure, it look amazing, but it kind of takes away from the nostalgia. Either way, a must-see for any Eva fan.
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (movie) Very good This is the movie where the new character is introduced and the story is changed up a bit. The artwork is spectacular, and it's really starting to bring back memories of the original series. However, while I don't mind them changing the story too much, I feel the pacing is too fast, especially for those whom are new to the Eva series. I understand the movie time limit constraints, but I almost feel as if it should have been broken up into more movies. That's why it was rated down lower than the other movie.
Fafner in the Azure - Right of Left (special) Very good Very surprising show/OAV/movie/whatever, and I'll definitely be checking out the TV series.
(The) Familiar of Zero (TV) Very good To me, this anime was borderline between Very Good and Excellent. The comedic moments were golden and the story was very solid. Flat chest comments and seiyuu Rie Kugimiya helped seal the deal for an extremely good anime that's worth checking out.
(The) Familiar of Zero F (TV) Good The main reason I rated this down slightly from the other series is that this seemed to end quicker than I would have liked. The pacing was good, but I hope this isn't the end. Unlike some other series, this managed to stay fairly consistent.
(The) Familiar of Zero: Knight of the Twin Moons (TV) Good The sequel seemed to have lacked the more comedic elements of the first series. It took a more serious tone, and because of that, I feel it lost its original meaning. Still worth seeing, however.
(The) Familiar of Zero: Rondo of Princesses (TV) Very good Great balance between the first and second seasons. Very, very solid.
Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture Weak Horrible piece of trash.
Fate/stay night (TV) Good A lot of people weren't fans of this, and if you've played the game, I can understand why. The game is way deeper, more complex and is simply better. However, I didn't think the anime was that bad.
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (TV) Good It's good, but I don't really get the remake. It was so short, and there's still tons of story left... Also, nothing new has really been brought to the table since the last version of this?
Fate/Zero (TV) Excellent Way better production than before, extremely solid story and awesome pacing. I can't wait for the next season.
Fate/Zero (TV 2) Excellent Continuation. Stays as solid as the first half and delivers the goods, all the way to the end.
Final Approach (TV) Good It's short enough to keep you interested, yet long enough to give a decent story. I enjoyed it.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) So-so Overhyped. Square...Enix...Square-Enix...whatever you want to be called. Please, PLEASE stop trying to milk this series. FF7 was the best RPG you've ever put out and you're not going to be able to make anything as good again, nor will you be able to bring back that fanbase again. Learn to leave well enough alone.
Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals (OAV) Awful Trash
FLCL (OAV) Decent Weird and interesting at the same time. Took me awhile to watch the rest of the episodes after episode 1, but it was better than I had thought.
Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club (TV) Very good Ignoring the rest of the "community" on this one, the story and character development is really good. Kyoani rarely disappoints.
Full Metal Panic! (TV) Masterpiece My favorite all-time anime. A must see for any fan of action and/or mecha. Some of the best seiyuu in the industry as well!
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV) Masterpiece FMP, but with a more serious side. Simply put, it rules.
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (OAV) Excellent Comical, like Fumoffu.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Masterpiece A more comical side of the FMP series. A nice change of pace and involves less mecha.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Very good Originally, I had this rated as a Masterpiece. That was really before I knew the actual story from the manga. While the story itself isn't bad, it's pretty different. That's one of the reasons why it has since been re-rated down.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (TV) Masterpiece Yes, it's true that the first 15 or so episodes were slow, but that was because everyone already knew the story from the previous anime and manga. It MORE than makes up for itself towards the middle and end. Considering I've been pretty dejected with anime lately, it's easily a masterpiece in every sense of the word, in my opinion.
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa Good It's an alright continuation, but nothing that special.
(The) Future Diary (TV) Good The pacing on this was a bit off. It starts out somewhat slow during the beginning with the main character moping around a bit, but it takes a fairly dramatic turn halfway through and picks up the pace almost too quickly. It's a very solid show, but I think it could have been even better with some polishing and a main character that isn't such a wimp at the beginning.
Ga-Rei-Zero (TV) Excellent The first two episodes, I thought the show was pretty ridiculous. However, it turned into a truly great anime. I dislike ANN's "Yuri" classification, though.
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! (TV) Excellent Wonderful loli, school, slice-of-life anime. A must-see for anyone interested in any of those genres.
Galilei Donna (TV) Good HOCCHIBI! LOLI POWER! Worth checking out.
Gambler Densetsu Tetsuya (TV) So-so It started out decently, but it got very repetitive towards the end.
Gantz (TV) Awful Nice gore scenes, but the ending completely turned me off....
(The) Garden of Sinners (movie series) Masterpiece This is one of the rare works that I feel is worthy of the Masterpiece rating, but that's to be expected from Nasu's work.
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (TV) Good It was a decent mecha kinda anime that's short enough to pick up and watch on a whim.
Genshiken (TV) Masterpiece My favorite otaku-related anime.
Genshiken (OAV) Masterpiece Another epic otaku-related anime. It doesn't hurt that my three favorite seiyuus are still in there.
Genshiken 2 (TV) Masterpiece Continuing where the OVA left off, it still stays fairly true to the manga. Great as always!
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Excellent Classic
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie) Very good Another great GitS story.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV) Excellent I came sooo close to rating this a perfect score, but the storyline was so complex and hard to follow at times, so I had to rate it down slighty for that. Still, it's a must-see for any cyberpunk or sci-fi fan.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society (movie) Very good Continuation of Stand Alone Complex. Great story!
Girl's High (TV) Good Good anime that's worth seeing if you're into the whole "schoolgirl" thing.
Gokū no Kōtsū Anzen (special) Not really good Another education special they made. Again, not really worth watching.
(The) Gokusen (TV) Very good A wanna-be GTO anime. Still good though!
Golden Boy (OAV) Very good Perverted comedy at its best!
Golden Time (TV) Good It started out like any normal college love anime, but it actually had some unique twists to it. Worth checking out.
Grappler Baki: The Ultimate Fighter (OAV) Weak Simply put...weak.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Decent Everyone loved this movie, but I have some major beef with it. It inaccurately portrays the bombing times. According to the movie, we were still bombing after the war ending which is not true. The dates are all wrong in the movie. I'm sorry, but as a big WWII wanna-be historian, this movie got a bad rating from me.
Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl (TV) Excellent Very strong anime this season, and it was more consistent than most of the others. Shaft did an awesome job on this.
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Masterpiece Wonderful comedy! Don't miss it!
Guilty Crown (TV) Good Fairly solid anime overall, although I started to care for the characters a bit less towards the end.
Gungrave (TV) Excellent Great show about the underworld/gangster life.
Gunslinger Girl (TV) Masterpiece Very touching anime...plus it had tons of great guns!!!!
Gunsmith Cats (OAV) Good Fairly solid series, with nice cars. I just wish there was more.
Gurren Lagann (TV) Excellent Awesome story. Some people dislike the artwork variances, but I think it gives it character that no other series has had.
Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End- Excellent I didn't expect to like this all that much, due to the obvious length difference when compared to the tv series, but I was more than satisfied with what they did regarding the movie. Great first half.
Haganai (TV) Excellent One of the few shows I really enjoyed. I hope they show more of Taka's little sister next season.
Haganai NEXT (TV) Good It's getting to be a bit more serious at times, and there simply wasn't enough Kobato-chan. Seriously, this anime needs more Kobato-chan!
Hajime no Ippo (TV) Excellent Great anime, especially if you're into fighting. The only faults were that some of the rounds lasted a bit long, and the last episode could have been thrown in about 70 episodes or so earlier.
Hajime no Ippo - Champion Road (special) Good Good movie that should have been included in the anime.
Hajime no Ippo - Mashiba vs. Kimura (OAV) Decent It was a decent OAV, but it was a bit too melodramatic.
Hajime no Ippo Rising (TV) Good Although it did drag a little bit, it was still fairly good. Not sure about the music score, though.
Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger (TV) Excellent Better artwork and a bit more gripping. Keeping it at 26 episodes helps make it a bit easier to watch. Sometimes the background music was a bit odd and sounded like it tried too hard, but the overall anime was great.
Hamatora (TV) Good It was pretty solid for what it was. Kinda reminded me of GetBackers at times.
Haruka Nogizaka's Secret (TV) Good Fairly solid anime throughout. I still say Mika is the better catch, though.
Hatsukoi Limited (TV) Decent If you're into love stories, you'll probably enjoy this. It was a bit too childish towards the end, but it wasn't bad.
Hayate the Combat Butler (TV) Very good When it's good, it's great. However, there are some fairly slow bits in here as well. It's another one of those crazy "parody/anything goes" anime, but in the end, it's definitely worth checking out, especially for anime fans.
Hayate the Combat Butler!! (OAV) Good Your average OAV. If you liked the TV series, it's worth checking out.
Hayate the Combat Butler!! (TV) Good It's just a continuation of the first season. The reason I didn't rate it very good is because there seemed to be less parodies, but it followed the same old formula as the last season.
He Is My Master (TV) Decent Hillarious loli comedy. A must for any loli fan.
Heaven's Memo Pad (TV) Excellent Great anime of this season. It's just long enough to keep you interested without it getting to be too long or boring. Also, Narumi has some nice Ground n Pound.
Hell Girl (TV) Good Fairly repetitious throughout the show until the last few episodes where it gets to the main story line. A good ending for a good anime. An interesting note was the all-star support seiyuu cast.
Hell Girl: Two Mirrors (TV) Decent Not as good as the first one. It was more of the same old formula with a few details about the characters. Also, they forced some sort of "plot" into the last couple of episodes. I also wasn't a huge fan of how it ended.
Hellsing (TV) So-so Had potential, but it lost me towards the end.
(The ")Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat. (TV) Good Solid loli character anime. Anything with flat chests ranks fairly high for me.
Hōkago no Pleiades (ONA) So-so It was too short, and everything seemed rushed. Overall, the story itself was nothing new, but it wasn't exactly bad either.
Hoshizora Kiseki (ONA) Weak Shoddy drawings, pathetic voice acting, rushed, and a horrible plot. I really don't recommend this at all.
Hunter X Hunter (TV 1999) Masterpiece Classic
Hunter X Hunter (OAV) Masterpiece Sequel to the classic. Not much else to say....
Hunter X Hunter: G I Final (OAV) Masterpiece Same artwork style as the last OAV. A Masterpiece, of course!
Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island (OAV) Masterpiece Hunter x Hunter - Now with better graphics. Still a masterpiece just like the others.
HYOUKA (TV) Good Lots of people rated this series fairly high. I thought it was solid, but the last few episodes seemed to stray away from what the rest of the story was all about. It could have gone on longer with the whole mystery/detective-esque thing, IMO.
I Don't Like You At All, Big Brother!! (TV) Good If you're into this kind of show, it'll be roughly on par with the rest of them. There's nothing new being introduced, but it's a decent quasi-incest love comedy kinda thing.
(The) IDOLM@STER (TV) Very good Much better than the last one and closer to the actual story/game. A good few people had issues with the Producer being shown, but I didn't have a problem with it. Good if you enjoy the actual iDOLM@STER series or enjoy idols in general.
IDOLM@STER: XENOGLOSSIA (TV) Decent Decent is probably the best word for describing this anime. It's mediocre, average, and contains nothing all that new. It's worth seeing if you enjoy mecha, but besides that, I can't really recommend it. However, I didn't ever once feel "forced" to watch it, so it was able to keep me entertained throughout.
Initial D (TV) Masterpiece Best car-oriented anime I've seen. Later on in the series, it gets less about drifting and more about proper driving. As someone who races in SCCA events, this is a great anime, especially the other parts to the series. A lot of the stuff they mention is correct in terms of vehiclular dynamics. It is NOT an anime verison of "Fast and Furious."
Initial D: Battle Stage (OAV) Decent More Initial D
Initial D: Battle Stage 2 (OAV) So-so The battle stages are kinda boring. I've already seen the races, so I'm not sure why they have to release special OAVs for this. I know there are a few new ones, but still...
Initial D: Extra Stage (OAV) Good More Initial D
Initial D: Extra Stage 2: Tabidachi no Green (OAV) Decent Not enough Takumi and racing
Initial D: Fifth Stage (TV) Good It did a good job at reviving the Initial D series, but the spacing between the episodes was annoying. I really wish they'd come back in full force with a proper season again.
Initial D: Fourth Stage (TV) Masterpiece More Initial D
Initial D: Second Stage (TV) Masterpiece More Initial D
Initial D: Third Stage (movie) Excellent More Initial D
Inu X Boku Secret Service (TV) Good It's not bad, and the main character is cute, but her attitude is pretty annoying.
Ippatsu Kiki Musume (TV) Weak Wow..... Just....wow........
Is This a Zombie? (TV) Very good In another year filled with mediocre anime, this one wasn't too bad. It's a decent dark comedy show with some VN style elements. It doesn't follow the novels exactly, but it maintains the same feel for the most part. The last episode was pretty unnecessary, though.
Is This a Zombie? of the Dead (TV) So-so Wasn't as good as the first one for whatever reason.
Jikū Bōken Nūmamonjaa (OAV) Worst ever Awful. Avoid this. It's one of the reasons why I hate watching video game related anime. They're almost never good.
Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade (movie) Very good I usually don't care for OAVs/movies, but this is simply awesome! Great story with great voice actors.
Jormungand (TV) Very good The best way to describe this would be some sort of black comedy. It's a very peculiar series, and it grabbed by attention from nearly the beginning. The strange jokes and dark nature of it are a nice touch in this moeblob infested anime world at the moment.
Jormungand Perfect Order (TV) Very good Continuing from the last season, it continues to deliver. If you liked the first season, you'll like the second.
K-ON! (TV) Very good Awesome moe anime about school girls playing music.
Kaiji: Against All Rules (TV) Very good Great, as always. The only thing that was a bit of a letdown was that the final bog scene was a bit too long.
Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor (TV) Very good More greatness from the author Nobuyuki Fukumoto. Just like Akagi, it's an extremely solid series. I preferred Akagi's character, but Kaiji's plot was a little more solid throughout. Given that each has its own weakness, I decided to rate them the same.
Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (TV) Very good Nice comedy anime, but I felt the last few episodes were a touch too serious. Either way, it's worth checking out.
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (TV) Decent Decent ecchi series, but the ending was fairly weak. It was also kinda odd hearing Mamiko Noto as a guy.
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (OAV) Decent Doesn't really add much to the story. It's your typical add-on OAV, but it's not terribly bad. It seems like Kanokon gets more and more graphic as time goes by.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Masterpiece Wonderful anime with great artwork, music, and seiyuu. Think of Air, but with a touch more comedy and a "happier" story.
Katanagatari (TV) Excellent A very powerful story with great artwork and good pacing. Definitely worth checking out.
KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple (TV) Excellent This one is a guilty pleasure of mine. It wasn't anything amazing, but I loved it to death. Whoever made this anime knew quite a bit about martial arts, as well. Wonderful uplifting anime that I recommend to all martial arts fans. Also, bonus points since they used the south-paw stance quite a bit (JKD homage maybe?).
Kiss×sis (OAV) Good Just more of the same stuff. Worth watching.
Kiss×sis (TV) Good This is probably the most "daring" out of all of the series so far. The story wasn't too bad, so if you're into this sort of thing, it's worth a watch.
Kite (OAV) Bad Had I heard this was a hentai, I wouldn't have watched it....
Knights of Sidonia (TV) Decent It had some funky artwork that took a little bit of getting used to. Story itself was engaging enough, and it was short enough to where you didn't lose interest too much.
Kodomo no Jikan (TV) Excellent Not only does it follow the manga very closely, but it chose the perfect voice actors for the series. The only reason I didn't rate it at masterpiece was because I thought they made Reiji a bit too psychotic on the last few episodes. It's still a great loli anime, though. I should note, I refused to watch the censored TV version. Instead, I watched the DVD versions, as they're shown the way it was meant to be shown.
Kodomo no Jikan Nigakki (OAV) Very good More epic loli
Kodomo no Jikan: Anata ga Watashi ni Kureta Mono (OAV) Good Solid OAV, even if it is too short.
Koe de Oshigoto! (OAV) Good It's good, and it follows the manga fairly closely. However, I eventually got bored of the manga and dropped it, so I don't think I'll catch future series unless I'm bored.
Koi Kaze (TV) Very good This isn't your standard ecchi incest comedy story. This is an actual love story between a 27 year old brother and 15 year old sister. It was told fairly realistically, and if you're willing to watch it, I'd recommend checking it out.
Kujibiki Unbalance (OAV) Decent I liked it, but it's probably because I loved Genshiken.
Kurenai (TV) Very good Really good story and the dialogue between characters is well done, but I wasn't a big fan of the last episode.
Kuttsukiboshi (OAV) Good Seriously needs to be continued. Leaving us with an epic cliffhanger like that is not cool...
Kyo no Gononi (OAV) Decent I actually watched the TV series first, so my perspective might be a bit different. It's pretty much the same exact stuff that happens in the TV series, so it's not bad. However, I thought the voice acting and drawings were a bit better in the TV series, hence the slightly lower rating.
Kyo no Gononi (TV) Good Solid slice of life anime that's enjoyable as long as you're not looking for any kind of real plot.
Last Exile (TV) Excellent Instant classic
Last Order Final Fantasy VII (OAV) Decent This was quite good as it had a nice little backstory where FF7 didn't really touch on.
Leave it to Kero! Theatrical Version (movie) Decent Pretty pointless, but I chuckled a few times. Worth seeing, I guess, considering it's only about 10 minutes long.
Letter Bee: Light and Blue Night Fantasy (special) Decent It's an alright show, I guess. I didn't know anything about it before watching this, and I don't think I'm going to watch the series.
Level E (TV) Excellent Considering how many generic shows there are, this one really stood out with its unique story line and humor.
Like the Clouds, Like the Wind (movie) Decent Reminded me of those educational cartoons we used to watch in class. Wasn't too bad, though.
Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father! (TV) Decent It's nothing too spectacular, but it had enough loli goodness to keep me watching.
Little Busters! (TV) Very good I'm surprised at the ratings this got. It follows the game fairly closely. Granted, there are lots of details that simply can't be added, but that's to be expected given the fact that the game takes like 50 hours to go through everyone's routes. The remade OP/ED are also great. The only voice actor that changed was Riki, and given how few lines he had in the game, it's not a deal breaker, IMO. So yeah, not sure why so many people disliked this.
Little Busters! Refrain (TV) Very good It's great, and they did a solid job explaining the story within the allotted time limit. If you can, play the game. It's even better. :)
Love Hina (TV) Decent Nice, but it started to get old towards the end.
Love Lab (TV) Good Pretty solid overall. There wasn't much depth to it, but it's still worth watching for the solid tsukkomi.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (TV) Very good I wasn't really into it during the first episode, but it got way better from there on out. In fact, it was so good that I decided to read the novels. Given that there weren't a lot of episodes, it couldn't delve into a ton of character development, but it did a solid job at delivering a great story in that short amount of time.
Lovely Complex (TV) Not really good It seemed to drag on too long, going back and forth constantly. The whole kansai/osaka dialect was also annoying.
Lucky Star (TV) Excellent Probably the best random, otaku-esque anime I've seen. There were so many perfect moments, it's hard to count them all. The only reason it didn't reach Masterpiece status was due to the fact that certain parts were fairly slow, and even with notes, some of the jokes were a bit too "Japanese."
Lucky Star OVA Excellent Received the excellent rating simply because of Minoru's epically awesome やらないか tie.
A Lull in the Sea (TV) Very good Very good story, solid artwork, and lots of love triangles to keep you interested until the very end.
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Very good It was one of those anime that I just couldn't put down. The artwork itself didn't seem too great, but the overall story is extremely compelling. I can see why the VN is so popular. The only downsides that occur are when a few episodes run a little long, and when there's not enough character development due to the length. It definitely made me want to go out and get the VN. An extreme solid series, borderline Excellent, that should be in anyone's collection.
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie) Masterpiece I didn't watch this until 2010. After being so fed up with all the recent "moe" nonsense that's being shoved down our throats, it was a breath of fresh air. The artwork, storyline, script... It sums up everything that is great about Lupin. Miyazaki did an amazing job with this.
Lupin the 3rd (TV) So-so It's not that it's a bad series. It's just a little dated, considering I watched it in like 2004 or so.
Maburaho (TV) Decent It's your standard ecchi comedy. I didn't care for the ending, however.
Macross Frontier (TV) Decent Even though I disliked Macross 7, this wasn't too bad. It started to get kinda lame towards the end, however. Also, the seiyuu for Ranka's character was way better than the seiyuu for Sheryl's.
Macross Plus (OAV) Very good Very nice OAV of the Macoss series.
Macross Zero (OAV) Masterpiece Probably the best Macross I've seen. Its mix of CGI and regular drawings are epic! It explains more of the backstory to the anime.
Magical Chocolate (OAV) Not really good Horrible artwork, bad voice acting, and an overall bad production. However, even with all of those flaws, it wasn't that bad for an eight minute anime. The story is what saved it.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (TV) Good I'm not real into the whole magical girl genre, but this one wasn't too bad. It got a bit too cheesy at the end, but it has a lot of "moe" in it.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (TV) Very good This really surprised me. I wasn't expecting the sequel to be this good compared to the original. It might even get me into the whole magical-girl genre!
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (TV) Decent NO MORE LOLI FATE AND NANOHA!!! NO!!! Besides going into this anime as a disappointed loli fan, the plot just got way out of hand. I felt it was too complex and heavy for such a series. The ending was nice, but the complex plot + no more loli fate/nanoha forced me to rate it Decent.
Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) Very good I totally didn't expect all the action in this anime, but it was nice.
Mahoromatic: I'm Home! (special) Decent Considering how much later this came compared to the rest of the series, I don't really see the point. It wasn't bad, and it felt like it belonged in the original storyline (or some sort of sub-plot), but I have a hard time figuring out why they decided to release this now.
Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful (TV) Good The ending had me going both ways in terms of ratings, but it held my attention and interest long enough to vote it the way I did.
Mahoromatic: Summer Special Very good An ejoyable special.
MAOYU (TV) Good This is basically the spicy wolf fix for everyone. However, there just weren't enough episodes for it to be as good. It seems like this was more about testing the waters more than anything else. Lots of plot left...
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece Wow! This anime took me by surprise. At first, I thought it was awful due to the first episode, but after that...it was one of the best anime I've ever seen. I can't even think of a category to put it into!
Mission-E (TV) So-so Story was kinda weak. The best part about it was the inclusion of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1.
Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (OAV) Decent Better than I thought it would be. It's just about as trippy as the original, too. Think of Alice in Wonderland...with tons of lesbians.
Mobile Fighter G Gundam (TV) So-so Dragon Ball...Gundam?! The entire anime is pretty ridiculous. It had its moments, but overall, I didn't find it too enjoyable. It's not really good, but it's not really bad, either. A must-see for Gundam fans, but that's about as far as I can recommend it.
Mobile Suit Gundam (TV) So-so Had to rate this lower since I saw the dub. Sorry Gundam fans....
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (TV) Excellent So far, and I know lots of people will get angry, but this is probably the best Gundam series I've seen. There's no teenage angst or puberty bs that's found throughout most of the Gundam series. Instead, it's just pure action with politics. Because of the length, there were no boring moments, either. Some people kept comparing it to Gundam Wing, but it's just SO much more. And to top it off, the animation is the best the Gundam series has seen, especially in HD. Highly recommended anime series.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season (TV) Excellent Picks right up where the first season left off. There wasn't a single boring episode in the series, which was very refreshing. I'd have to say Gundam 00 is the most solid regular anime Gundam series I've seen yet.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer Excellent This is probably the most action packed Gundam movie yet. Once again, Gundam 00 introduces another spectacular addition to the series. It's been over a year since Gundam 00 ended, but they did a fairly good job at helping you remember events without explaining them in mundane detail. Great story, awesome action but the ending after the credits was unnecessary, IMO. Regardless, highly recommended.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (OAV) Decent A lot of people loved this, but I wasn't as thrilled as some poeple. Not totally sure why....
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (OAV) Decent Not bad. I feel the same way as 0080.
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (movie) Good It's one of the more realistic Gundam movies I've seen. Given the fact that the 52 series had to be made into such a short movie, I can understand why it was such a fast pace. There were elements of extreme suddenness, but I overlooked those due to the circumstances of the anime. Overall, good movie.
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO 2: Gravity Front (OAV) So-so Pretty poor compared to the others. The battles were nice, but the overly emphasized facial expressions and overall story were pretty weak.
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079 (OAV) Very good Almost as good as the previous one, but fell short on the CGI animation when it came to acting. It felt too forced and fake.
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War (movies) Excellent The epitome of Gundam.... Anger, sorrow, politics, war...it has it all.... On top of that, it has some of the best 3D I've seen in a very long time. If this is what the new era of Gundam is going to look like, I welcome it with open arms!
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV) Very good One of my favorite Gundam in the entire series. It's just done so well....
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (TV) Good A lot of people on the forums really disliked this series because it's basically a mirror of the previous series. I thought it was a worth sequel to the show. The only real complaints I have are that it was slow during the middle, and the ending wasn't as resolute as I would have liked it to have been. Overall, I enjoyed this series, and it reinforced that the Cosmic Era is my favorite Gundam era so far.
Mobile Suit Gundam UC (OAV) Very good It's a really good Gundam OAV, but the spacing between the episodes was obnoxious. Still, it's not really the fault of the anime itself, so I can't really mark it down for that.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Not really good Ugh, one of my least favorites.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (movie) Bad Mind-numbing.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (movie) Very good Wonderful movie that has everything you could ask for in a Gundam series. I thought the ending could have been expanded upon, however....
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV) Very good My favorite portion of the Universal timeline.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (TV) So-so Wasn't too bad, but there was too much whining in this movie.
Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G (OAV) Weak The story was just too ridiculous. I was hoping for something similar to the way Genshiken did it, but oh well...
Moetan (TV) Good It has huge peaks and valleys in its progression. When it's good, it's extremely good. However, when it's slow, it's almost painfully slow. It's also filled with clichés galore, but if you take it for what it is, it's a fairly good loli ero comedy.
Monster (TV) Good Good series, but it's awfully long and repetitive. A very realistic anime about a serial killer and a doctor who is convicted of his crimes.
Mushi-Shi (TV) Good Very interesting anime, although I feel it's slightly overrated.
Mushishi: The Next Chapter (TV) Good Mushishi is always fairly solid, but I just feel it's getting a bit redundant at times. There doesn't seem to be too much unique about it anymore.
My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy (TV) Very good The first episode is pretty dumb, but the rest were great. It's short enough to where you should watch it regardless. Any more this season, and I think it would have been too much, so the size is just perfect.
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (TV) Very good Unfortunately, I can relate to the main character quite a bit, so I rated this fairly high. It would be nice to see some sequels for this.
My-HiME (TV) Decent I enjoyed the beginning and the soundtrack of this. Towards the middle and end, it was painful to get though. However, the very last part of it saved the series for me.
My-Otome (TV) Very good I enjoyed this much more than Mai-Hime. It never seemed to have any slow moments, where as Mai-Hime had quite a few. I liked the story a lot more as well. Very good anime that is worth seeing.
My-Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OAV) Decent Biggest issue I had with this, besides the time span between each episode, is that I didn't feel it added much to the My-Otome story. It was still fairly good, though.
My-Otome Zwei (OAV) So-so It was a fiarly haphazard anime. There wasn't much they couldn put in four episodes, but I wish they could have done something better....
Najica Blitz Tactics (TV) Decent If you can get past the fan service, the story is actually pretty decent. Rated lower due to its obvious "tunnel-visioned" demographic.
Nana to Kaoru (OAV) Good It's like porn but without the nudity. If you're into S&M, it's not a bad watch, but keep in mind that it's very short. You're probably better off just reading the manga or something. Either way, it wasn't a bad waste of time.
Naruto (TV) Very good It's like DBZ, but with ninjas...and better. Tons of filler, but I only watched the portion that was related to the Manga, so my score is mainly based on the non-filler episodes. I would have probably given it a higher score if it didn't have all that filler, too. Overall, it's a great anime, despite its flaws.
Nasu: A Migratory Bird with Suitcase (OAV) Good Better animation than the first. The race was a little less exciting, but it was still good.
Nasu: Summer in Andalusia (movie) Good A good anime about biking. It's pretty captivating, despite its length. The animation towards the end of the race was a bit haggard, though.
Natsu no Arashi! (TV) Decent Not the most engaging anime, but it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure if I'll watch the sequel or not.
Natsu no Arashi! Akinai-chū (TV) Decent Decided to watch the sequel after all. Exact same as before but with less plot and more daily events.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV) Very good It reminded me a lot of Mushishi, only it was more interesting, IMO.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 2) Very good Just your basic continuation of the story. Same artwork, same storyline, etc.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 3) Good Getting to be a bit repetitive now. I'm hoping they'll find a way to keep it fresh if they continue.
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 4) Good Same old, same old
Negima! (TV) Decent Ending totally killed this anime. It was doing so well until the last like...10 episodes.
Nekomonogatari (Black) (TV) Good It's good, but it didn't seem to click with me as much as some of the others in the series. Dunno why?
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Masterpiece Classic
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) Good Repeat of NGE, basically.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) Masterpiece A very nice ending to the series.
Ninja Nonsense (TV) Good Great light-hearted comedy
Ninja Scroll (movie) So-so People loved this, but I have no clue why. I thought it was overrated and too much like a hentai.
Nisekoi - False Love (TV) Decent Average romance comedy thing. Nothing really stood out about it, but it was decent
Nisemonogatari (TV) Very good Pretty much the exact same as Bakemonogatari. If you liked the last one, you'll like this. If not, don't bother watching.
NITABOH, the Shamisen Master (movie) Decent Kinda reminded me of Crossroads... but with shamisen.
No Game, No Life (TV) Very good Story is pretty solid, and it keeps you interested throughout without too much filler. Also, Shiro <3
No-Rin (TV) Decent It's an anime about farming with a cute flat chested little girl thrown in the mix. Not much else to say.
No. 6 (TV) Good It's a fairly solid show, but I thought it started to get a bit weak and rushed towards the end. One of the few shows where I think it could have benefitted from more episodes.
Nodame Cantabile (TV) Masterpiece One of the few anime I've seen where there have been no boring episodes. From start to finish, it kept a strong pace and held onto that. That alone allows it to win Masterpiece status. As a musician, I particularly enjoyed this anime. A great introduction for those who want to learn more about classical music, and a good love story to boot.
Nodame Cantabile: Finale (TV) Excellent Focused a bit more on Nodame and Chiaki's relationship than before, but the story was great. It's refreshing considering all the "moe" anime that's been coming out as of late.
Nodame Cantabile: Paris (TV) Excellent A great continuance of the series, except for two issues. The first is the odd 3D work they did, but the bigger issue is that this season was very rushed. If it hadn't have been so rushed, I would have given it a Masterpiece rating. Still a great series to watch.
Non Non Biyori (TV) Good Solid slice of life. Ren-chon~
Noragami (TV) Very good Was actually a lot better than I originally expected. The story stayed fairly solid throughout and never dragged on.
Now and Then, Here and There (TV) Excellent This anime was a trip. I didn't expect it to be like this at all. Fairly deperessing, but it gives a good account of what humanity is capable of.
Nurse Witch Komugi (OAV) Decent Pretty trippy magical girl anime.
Nurse Witch Komugi-Chan Magikarte Z (OAV) Decent Basic sequel packed in a 2 epi OAV format
Nyaruko: Crawling with Love! (TV) Good Fairly solid series with some nice gaming jokes going on. The lead character is obviously gay, however. No straight guy would refuse any of those girls. Ever.
Nyaruko: Crawling with Love! (TV 2) Good Mainly continues what's been going on with no real extra plot development
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Good Ah! My Goddess' first couple of episodes, but it OAV form.
Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions (TV) Good It's a fairly solid anime, but given that it was only 12 episodes long, a lot didn't happen in terms of deep story development.
Okamikakushi - Masque of the Wolf (TV) Decent It always had that Higurashi kinda vibe, but it was nowhere near as good. The last episode was totally unnecessary, too.
One Outs (TV) Excellent This series really took me by surprise. I'm not a huge sports fan at all. In fact, I don't like baseball one bit. However, the story was so entertaining that I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend this to anybody who's looking for a good gambling/psychological-style anime.
Oreimo (TV) Excellent In the midst of the current anime slump and overtaking of moe nonsense, this anime stood out for me during 2010. It's not terribly original or deep, but it developed a good plot and pacing within its short runner constraints. It even got me to read the novels.
Oreimo 2 (TV) Good It's a good continuation of the original, and it even contained the infamous "Kuroneko" scenes from the novels. Probably didn't have as much impact because I knew about the novels ahead of time, unlike the first season.
Otaku no Video (OAV) Decent Amazing Otaku video...mainly because it has a lot of underlying truth to the story.
Outbreak Company (TV) Very good I still want to stroke Miusel's ears
Outlaw Star (TV) Excellent I really enjoyed this sci-fi anime. I'm surprised more peole don't talk about it. I even ejoyed the English Dub which is almost unheard of for me.
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Very good My second favorite comedy anime (or should I say, my favorite parody anime).
Parasyte -the maxim- (TV) Good Pretty solid overall. Good, fairly serious story that shows him struggling to remain human and whatnot.
Passage of the Stars - Birth (special) Good Prequel of the epic sci-fi series Crest/Banner of the Stars.
Perfect Blue (movie) Good As an idol fan, it's hard to truly make out this movie. It's also somewhat hard to watch. The movie itself is good, and it's true there are crazy fans out there, but movies like this only create more negative stigmas against wotas.
Persona 4: The Animation (TV) Very good Very close to the game, I thought. There were parts that weren't exactly the same, but it's hard to cram a huge story like that into all these episodes. I thought they did a great job, and it brought back lots of PS2 memories.
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (TV) Excellent Great assassin/mafia/underworld anime. There were a few slow parts, but it wasn't enough to really rate the series down. The ending is a must see too.
Pilot Candidate (OAV) So-so There are some major spoilers in here. The OAV was mediocre, IMO. It didn't really seem to grab me, but it wasn't too bad, I guess. I don't think I'll check out the TV series, but we'll see.
Planetes (TV) Excellent Pretty good and realistic anime about living in outer space.
Please Teacher! (TV) Excellent Wonderful love story!
Please Teacher! (OAV) Excellent OAV of Please Teacher
Please Twins! (TV) Good Not as good as Please Teacher!, but still good!
Please Twins! (OAV) Good OAV of Please Twins
Pokémon (TV) Worst ever Ugh...the anime that started the awful trend in America....
Princess Mononoke (movie) Very good A classic OAV that should be in anyone's collection.
Psycho-Pass (TV) Excellent Was feeling kinda down and bored of anime, but this really got me back into it. A serious story (gasp!) with a real plot that kinda hinders on Minority Report meets GitS meets Seven. Good stuff!
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) Very good A lot of people rated this extremely high. It was a good story, and the mixture of both experimental art and "darker" story led it to stand out from the crowd, but it was hard for me to rate it as a masterpiece like so many others did.
Puni Puni Poemy (OAV) So-so Crack kills....
Quiz Magic Academy (OAV) So-so Too short and pretty average overall.
Re:␣Hamatora (TV) Decent I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous one. It just seemed less engaging for whatever reason.
Record of Lodoss War (OAV) Good Typical D&D/LotR type story. Slightly boring as it's been done before, but given its age, I can let that pass a little bit.
Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight (TV) Decent Part re-telling, part sequel. While it was a good anime, it had two major problems. One, it ran a bit too long so it got kinda boring. Two, the mini series inside it was complete trash. Because of that, I had to rate it down from Good to Decent. Also...no blood was shown.... It seems it was more geared towards the younger crowd.
RG Veda (OAV) Weak Too short, yet slow. Not only is there simply too much story to tell in such a short amount of time, but the pacing the anime took was fairly mundane.
RIN - Daughters of Mnemosyne (TV) Decent The story is average, but it paced well and never got boring. However, in the end, it wasn't that memorable. The ending explanation to everything was a little wacky.
Ro-Kyu-Bu! (TV) Good Decent loli basketball anime, but there's not a ton of depth or originality. I'd say it was the intro and ending songs that kept me interested in this more than anything else. That, and the loli aspect, of course.
Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS (TV) Decent
Robotics;Notes (TV) Very good It was a great "mecha" style anime without much mecha in it at all. There were some parts there were a little slow, but it maintained its solidarity all the way to the end. Not a huge fan of the way it ended after the credits, but it's still real good. I'll play the actual VN when I get some time.
Rosario + Vampire (TV) Decent All star seiyuu cast, but it fell short on the story. I'll probably watch the sequel anyway, though.
Rozen Maiden (TV) Good DESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESU!!! Ok, enough 4chan trolling. The series was extremely consistent throughout with little to no boring parts at all. It had a solid story, good soundtrack, and some pretty good artwork to boot. It's nothing amazing, but definitely worth seeing...DESU!
Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre (special) So-so Was shorter than I would have liked. I saw this before the TV series, so my opinion may have been swayed slightly because of it.
Rozen Maiden: Träumend (TV) Good Continues where the TV series left off. More of the same points throughout. Nice battle at the end, too.
Rozen Maiden: Zurückspulen (TV) Good Brought back memories, and it was an interesting take on the story. Liked the whole parallel worlds thing.
Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) Excellent Classic. I gave this a higher rating than it probably should have since it needs the OAV to accompany it, IMO. Still great though!
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) Masterpiece Pure gold!!!!
Ryoko's Case File (TV) Very good While it's not exactly the most "detective" drama, it definitely keeps you entertained. Worth checking out.
S-CRY-ed (TV) Decent Fairly typical, but not bad.
Samurai 7 (TV) Very good A nice quasi-interpretation of the Seven Samurai movie.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Very good I hate rap and hip-hop, but this had an enjoyable feel to it.
Samurai Deeper Kyo (TV) Good Typical supernatural samurai series, but I enjoyed it.
Sasameki Koto (TV) Good Good love comedy between two high school girls. The ending was a bit flat, but it's worth checking out if you're into shoujo-ai.
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei (TV) Decent I felt it tried too much to be like Pani Poni Dash. In the end, it just had too many ups and downs. When it was up, it was hilarious, but when it was down, it was nearly unwatchable at some parts.
School Days (TV) Decent I watched this only because of the controversy that surrounded it. The first 11 episodes weren't that great as the lead male character is a total waste of life. The only thing that saved it was the bats**t crazy ending. It made me really think about it for quite awhile and stuck with me.
School Rumble (TV) Very good Wonderful school-comedy anime!
School Rumble Sangakki (OAV) Decent The story just seemed a bit too ridiculous given the previous seasons. It wasn't bad, but it didn't seem to fit that well.
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Very good School Rumble continued!
School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) Very good Very nice OVA.
Seitokai Yakuindomo (TV) Very good The amount of dirty jokes in this is simply insane. Was super solid
Seitokai Yakuindomo (OAV) Very good Same as the TV series :)
Selector Infected Wixoss (TV) Decent It doesn't answer a whole lot. The story itself is average, I guess. It's not terribly original, but it's also not that bad. Definitely needs a sequel to complete the story.
Shakugan no Shana (TV) Very good Good anime with a great soundtrack. Predictable, but still worth watching. Besides, the series is worth watching for Shana alone.
Shakugan no Shana (movie) Good Basically just a re-telling of the first main battle in Shakugan no Shana. If I hadn't seen the series, I would have loved the movie. However, since I've already seen the series, I rated the movie down since it really didn't contain anything new except for a few small parts here and there.
Shakugan no Shana S (OAV) Decent Doesn't really add much to the story, but it's not bad.
Shakugan no Shana Second (TV) Very good I actually preferred this a touch more than the first season. The main reason is that the characters' resolve was much stronger. Yuji and Shana were both a lot stronger throughout. However, I felt the final boss scene was cut short, so I decided to rate it on par with the first season. Great anime, though.
Shakugan no Shana SP: Koi to Onsen no Kōgai Gakushū! (OAV) Very good Great comedy filled OAV for Shakugan no Shana!
She, The Ultimate Weapon (TV) Weak Very weak love story with a dumb ending. The last couple episodes were a bear to get through since it was so stupid.
Shoka (special) Awful Been awhile since I rated something this low. The fact that this was a Production I.G. creation AND it was an "award winning" script is pretty sad. Besides the plot being pure crap, did the artists decide to do all of their character artwork in MS Paint? I really don't recommend this at all.
Shuffle! (TV) Very good Great story for an eroge. It made a good ecchi anime if you're into that sort of stuff. For the record, I would have chosen Primula....
(The) Skull Man (TV) Very good An interesting anime that's a bit more deep than what ANN describes it as. It was a great anime all the way through. However, I felt that it was a bit too short as there are some confusing moments that leave the viewer hanging. Still worth watching if you're looking for a drama.
Sky Girls (OAV) Good Mmmm, half-naked lolis saving the world. Not a whole lot of plot development, but as a lover of loli, it's a must-have. I'll definitely be watching the TV series when it airs.
Sky Girls (TV) Very good The series! And it's packed with even more lolis!!! I was entertained throughout the entire series and, overall, enjoyed it very much.
Sola (TV) Good A very solid anime throughout. It's not too long and not too short. However, I have a hard time figuring out why it was rated #1 over in Japan. Either way, it's worth checking out.
Solty Rei (TV) Decent Started to get real boring towards the last 7 or so episodes. The script just started to go downhill. Ending wasn't too bad though, so I was able to give it the current rating.
Someday's Dreamers II Sora (TV) Good It's more of an "artsy" kind of anime, given the background animation, but it was a pretty good series. I thought the last episode was unnecessary, though.
Sora no Manimani (TV) Decent Fairly decent show about astronomy. I'm not big into astronomy, but people who like it could be more into it.
Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai (TV) Good Story was a bit confusing, but it's still pretty good. It reminded me a lot of Now and Then, Here and There.
Soul Eater (TV) Very good Fairly good show. Chiaki's voice wasn't my favorite, but it grew on me. Despite the length, it plays out fairly well.
Spice and Wolf (TV) Very good An enjoyable anime that doesn't involve moronic main characters. Seeing more relations between bartering and money making instead of fantasy was also a welcomed discovery. However, I feel the anime was too short for the story that surrounds it. Hopefully there will be a sequel.
Spice and Wolf II (TV) Good It was a pretty good continuation, but I thought the ending was a bit flat. A few economic situations weren't fully explained in detail, either.
Spirited Away (movie) So-so Simply put, it's not my thing. I have no clue how it got so popular, either.
Steins;Gate (TV) Masterpiece Been a long time since I rated something as a Masterpiece. This anime is, without a doubt, one of the best shows I've seen in quite awhile. Everybody needs to check this out, seriously.
Strawberry Eggs (TV) Good It's a pretty nice "slice-of-life" anime. There isn't much comedy, but for some reason, I couldn't help but watch the entire series in a day. It just had something about it that made me keep watching it.
Strawberry Marshmallow (TV) Very good Very nice slice-of-life loli anime that's worth seeing.
Strawberry Marshmallow (OAV) Very good Basically the same as the TV series.
Strawberry Marshmallow Encore (OAV) Good Two more episodes that continue the series. Not much else to say.
Strawberry Panic! (TV) Decent While the whole shoujo-ai/lesbian stuff was cool, overall, it was a very "girly" anime that wasn't my cup of tea. The last few episodes were boring, but the ending was pretty nice.
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie Not really good Yet another video game anime. Awful stuff.
Strike Witches (OAV) So-so Was this like a proof of concept or something? It was awfully short, and the "story" part was pretty boring.
Strike Witches (TV) Very good Delicious lolis running around in their underwear, fighting alien things. What more could you want?!
Strike Witches 2 (TV) Decent The story wasn't quite as good as the first one, and it was a lot of the same stuff from the previous series without a ton of development. On top of that, the 3D on the characters was horrible. That said, it's not too bad.
Student Council's Discretion (TV) Good Pretty good parody anime that's somewhat similar to Pani Poni Dash.
Sumomomo Momomo - Chijō Saikyō no Yome (TV) Weak I thought this anime might be good due to its loli aspect, but I was wrong...far from it.... The first couple of episodes weren't too bad, but then it was just a downhill battle from there. Even the ending is a piece of trash. Even loli fans should avoid this anime. The only reason it was able to muster a "weak" rating instead of something lower was due to the fact that Iroha was some nice eye candy.
Sunday Without God (TV) Good It was good, but I can't help but feel that it ended too early. There's a lot more they can do with the story.
(The) Super Dimension Fortress Macross (TV) Good One of the anime that started the whole mecha/space thing. Don't miss it if you're a fan of this genre!
(The) Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? (movie) Good Interesting movie about the Macross series. I enjoyed it.
Suteki desu wa, Sakura-chan! Tomoyo no Cardcaptor Sakura Katsuyaku Video Nikki! (OAV) Decent Cute clip, and it's only like 5 minutes long. Worth checking out for CCS fans.
Sweet Blue Flowers (TV) Decent It's fairly linear throughout in terms of pacing. Decent story, but I wish the two main characters would have developed more together towards the end.
Switch (OAV) So-so It's not that it's a bad OAV. It's just that there are too few episodes to really expand upon the story. Lots of questions went unanswered as well.
Sword Art Online (TV) Excellent At first, I was afraid this would be another .hack clone, but this was a proper MMO-style anime done right. Nearly everything was perfect about it.
Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike (movie) Masterpiece I was a bit taken back by how many people rated it lower. The movie was excellent, IMO. The slow parts were few and far between, so the pacing was just about perfect. I can only assume that those who had issues with it were relating it to the game. I've yet to play the game, so keep that in mind.
Tamako Market (TV) Very good Very solid slice of life kind of anime. Tamako <3
Tamayura (OAV) Decent It was an average moe-esque slice of life anime. I'd like to see it expanded upon.
TANK S.W.A.T. 01 (OAV) Weak Graphics reminded me of Megaman Legends for the PSX. The story was boring and predictable, too. Overall, it was fairly weak.
Tayutama - Kiss on My Deity (TV) So-so It started off decent, but it got extremely generic towards the end.
Tears to Tiara (TV) Good Fairly solid anime. It kinda reminded me of Utawarerumono.
Tekken: The Motion Picture (OAV) Worst ever Don't even bother watching this.
Texhnolyze (TV) Decent Extremely hard to follow, but it kept my attention the entire time.
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (TV) Good It's a bit dated considering I watched this in 2010, and the plot is a bit weak, but it's not too bad. If you're looking for an older style anime, it's worth taking a look.
Time of Eve (ONA) Very good It was short, but the content was great. Hopefully they'll confirm a second season.
Time of Eve (movie) Very good After watching this, I'd say watching the regular series episodes aren't really worth watching. The movie covers all the bases of the episodes and then some. Very good series about robots, humans and the uncanny valley theory.
Tohai Densetu Akagi -Yamini Maiorita Tensai- (TV) Very good A very surprising series that caught me off guard. Psychologically thrilling throughout! The only problems I could find were that the ending was drawn out, only to be cut real short in the final moments, and the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of the more American-esque drawing style.
Tokyo Babylon (OAV) Decent Nice little OAV about the past of Subaru and his relationship with Seishirou. It's not really necessary in terms of the whole X series, but I didn't lose my time.
Tokyo Babylon 2 (OAV) Decent Not sure why these are split up, but whatever. I thought Part 1 was a touch better, but they're both roughly the same.
Tokyo Ghoul (TV) Decent It was really good at first, but then it kinda started to dwindle down towards the end. Was still decent overall, though.
Toradora! (TV) Very good Solid tsundere love story. Rated very high due to the epic presence of zettai ryouiki and Kugimiya Rie.
Trigun (TV) Masterpiece Classic
Trinity Blood (TV) Good A lot of people disliked this because it's all been done before, but I enjoyed it.
(The) Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura (TV) Good It starts out pretty dark with the bullying stuff, but it ends up being light hearted as episodes go by. Long enough to remain interesting, short enough to never get boring.
True Tears (TV) Very good It's a good VN-style story. The most interesting thing, however, is that it didn't follow the VN at all. In fact, it's completely different all together. Whether or not that's good or bad is in the eye of the beholder. I did have an issue with the lame 3D portions they'd use. They always looked very out of place.
Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations (OAV) Excellent Wow! Huge plot development here, as well as fixing the action scene issues from the TV series. I can't wait until the next season of the anime starts!
Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (TV) Very good Good anime with great artwork. Awful fight scenes (lots of stills without much action, and no one ever bleeds), and the second series started to drag along a little bit.
Tsubasa: Spring Thunder (OAV) Very good See, this is what I've been waiting for! We finally have fluid action scenes going on.
Unbreakable Machine-Doll (TV) Very good I want to be Yaya's master ;_;
Unlimited Psychic Squad (TV) Very good At its core, it's an X-Men ripoff, but it's fairly well done for the length. It's long enough to where it keeps you entertained but short enough to not drag on. Worth checking out, at least.
Utawarerumono (TV) Excellent Great, touching story that plays out a lot like an RPG (probably because of the eroge it's based on). Wonderful ending as well. A must-see.
Utawarerumono (OAV) So-so It wasn't bad, but it didn't really do anything for the story. I don't really see why they bothered making it. I can only assume it was for the small bits of nudity.
Vampire Hunter D (OAV) So-so It's a classic and must be in every anime fan's collection, even if you don't enjoy the story 100%.
Vampire Knight (TV) Decent Nothing in particular stands out about this anime. What's worse is that I was waiting for a few weeks and noticed there were no episodes. I didn't realize it ended at 13, because...it didn't really end. Hopefully they'll continue this series. It's because of that moment that I decided to rate it Decent instead of Good. It's not bad, but not that great, either.
Vampire Knight Guilty (TV) Good An improvement from the first season, but I had some mixed feelings about the ending.
(The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV) Excellent Classic
Voices of a Distant Star (OAV) Good Surprisingly good for such a short length.
Waiting in the Summer (TV) Very good The teenage angsty outbursts were pretty annoying and cliche, but once you get past that, it's a very good story. It kinda pulled a bit from the Onegai Teacher, but I don't mind.
Wangan Midnight (TV) Good A lot of the stuff they did to the cars was a bit overhyped, as building a "Wangan" car is fairly easy, but it was a fairly solid series. It also helps that the S30, R34, and RX7 are my three favorite Japanese cars.
WATAMOTE (TV) Very good It's a good take on the unpopular hikikomori-esque otaku theme. I just wish it was longer. The last episode also seemed somewhat weak compared to the other ones.
Welcome to the NHK (TV) Very good A touching hikikomori story.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Masterpiece Best loli-horror anime I've ever seen! Even the shortened final fight scene couldn't stop me from rating this at its best!
When They Cry - Kai (TV) Excellent The artwork seemed to have changed a bit, and they gave away tons of answers. It seemed less "intelligent" than the previous serious, as well as being less gory. However, the ending was exquisite. Not on par with the original, but definitely worth seeing.
When They Cry - Rei (OAV) Decent It's too haphazardly put together for me to rate it any higher.
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Decent Decent, but had a lot of boring moments in it. Seems like an anime to appeal to the whole loligoth culture.
Witchblade (TV) Good Very solid anime throughout the series. The animation, music, and story were all strong. If I had any complaints (besides it not being something super original), it would be that I felt Mamiko Noto's voice isn't suited during Masane's transformation. I prefer her voice being portrayed as more gentle, rather than brash.
Wolf's Rain (TV) Very good Very interesting and gripping story.
X (movie) Worst ever I want my time back after watching this anime....
X (TV) Very good It's been awhile since I last watched a truly serious anime. I have to say, it was quite refreshing. It's odd that the TV and Movie could be so different from each other. To be honest, I haven't seen the movie in years. It was actually one of the first anime I ever saw. Maybe the comparison is unfair due to the huge difference in time. Either way, I really enjoyed this series, even with all the Shoujo elements.
xxxHOLiC (TV) So-so Horrible artwork, annoying characters (specifically Watanuki and Himawari), and for a series that's supposed to tie in all the Clamp works, it doesn't do a very good job. That said, the story itself isn't bad, and the supernatural theme they implemented was fairly nice.
xxxHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream Good Solid movie with good atmosphere
xxxHOLiC: Kei (TV) Decent It was a little better than the first one because it had more of an overall plot, and it was shorter in length.
xxxHOLiC: Shunmuki (OAV) Good While short, I really like how they're working on combining this with the Tsubasa anime.
Yomigaeru Sora - RESCUE WINGS (TV) Very good If you're into the JASDF, this is the perfect anime for you. It's fairly realistic and shows a good insight as to what it's like being in a rescue squad.
You're Under Arrest (TV) Very good Best cop anime I've seen.
You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle (TV 3) Very good More of the You're Under Arrest series with upgraded artwork. If you're a fan of the series, you'll definitely want to check this out.
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV) Good Doesn't really add anything in terms of slice of life school anime, but it's not a bad show. Worth checking out if you're into that stuff and worth avoiding if you hate that stuff.
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV2) Good About the same as the first, really. Not much has changed, nothing has been added and nothing has been taken away.
Zone of the Enders: Idolo (OAV) So-so Average at best. Didn't do much for me.
