The show was the literal definition of "safe".

I'll admit that the anime is a bit better than the manga, if only because it doesn't waste as much of your time. But it still baffles me that a series with so little meat on it's bone can have so much longevity when more interesting Rom-Coms either end too soon or go unnoticed for their whole run.

In terms of Winter 2025 shows that weren't covered by daily reviews, I think that Okitsura and I Want to Escape Princess Lessons should be reviewed. Both are the best and worst rom-com of the season respectively, and I do feel that the critics will have something interesting to say about those two shows.

I concour. I dropped it a few episodes in long after it became apparent this was something I'd seen done a hundred time before and better. Teasing Master Takagi and Ms. Nagataro are far better at this schtick with far more charm.

This was my guilty pleasure trash show of the season. I'm not saying that it was good, mind you; the FL was trash, the side characters(especially the boys) were trash, the Rival was OK, and the ML repeatedly did the "I am Void" thing instead of explaining to the FL that indeed, he was training to be a monk, and please, would she back the F off.

The manga isn't much better; the most surprising thing is that this show got a second season. Granted, the entire budget of S1 was about 30 seconds of sakuga on Demon Slayer, and I'm sure the studio made enough money on it to warrant a second season. However, I'm not looking forward to it.

I feel like your enjoyment of the show is definitely going to hinge on how much you tolerate Mona. Myself I actually liked how she was a conceited hot mess who kept getting herself into more embarrassing and fanservice-y situations because she can't help herself though she probably should have realized her feelings for Medaka sooner.

This is basically just your typical romcom with hijinks and fanservice but I think it definitely improves when they start adding more characters like Haruno, Asahi and Tomo.

I like the idea that Medaka is a typical horny teenager who uses his temples' doctrine as an excuse to deny that fact, though otherwise he's pretty generic.

I still can't quite understand what the dancing in the OP was all about.

I liked Okitsura but I think best romcom of the season is definitely tied between I Have a Crush at Work (even if nobody licensed it) and the Amagami Sisters.
