Anime Festival Asia Returns to Jakarta in June for Its 2025 Edition

Jakarta, Indonesia – 09 April 2025 – Get ready, anime enthusiasts, as Anime Festival Asia (AFA) returns to Jakarta from 6th to 8th June 2025. This marks the 9th edition of Southeast Asia's biggest and most prestigious celebration of Japanese Popular Culture in Indonesia!

Since 2008, Anime Festival Asia (AFA) has ignited the region with electrifying Japanese pop culture experiences. Exploding across six cities with over 30 events,Anime Festival Asia (AFA) has showcased 520+ performers and 2,300+ exhibitors, drawing a staggering 2.3 million fans.

The show is comprised of three main entertainment areas: the Akiba Town exhibition hall featuring top Japanese companies as well as up-and-coming Creators, the Day Stage where fans get to see their favourite artistes in live talk shows and special screenings, and the Night Concerts showcasing top J-pop and anisong artistes direct from Japan!

AFAID25 will once again transform the Jakarta Convention Centre into a vibrant hub for anime, manga, games, music, and Japanese culture. Attendees can expect a spectacular lineup of activities!

The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI Original Singers Symphony: Featuring original cast members from STUDIO GHIBLI films Yoshikazu Mera, Sumi Shimamoto, and Azumi Inoue, and Yuyu– accompanied by the TOKYO ASIA Orchestra.

TOUGEN ANKI: A new generation of dark heroics begins in this tale of demons! The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotaro. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood - a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him. The world premiere of the 1st episode of Tougen Anki will take place in AFA Indonesia!

DAN DA DAN: DAN DA DAN follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult geek. The two of them started talking after Momo rescued Okarun from getting bullied. Amid trouble, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to challenge the paranormal entities! Could this be the start of a fateful romance as well!?

KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO: A virtual artist group consisting of five cyber brain witches from "KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO", including KAF, RIM, Harusaruhi, Isekaijoucho, and KOKO. With a TV anime set to premiere in July, two members of KAMITSUBAKI CITY UNDER CONSTRUCTION – KAF and RIM, will appear as special guests.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid returns in the form of a long-awaited film! Kobayashi-san is an ordinary office worker who Dragons are attracted to. One of them, the young dragon Kanna, has a sudden visitor -- it turns out to be her real father. This is one emotional ‘family story’ you won't want to miss!

Shion Wakayama: Her major roles include Aoi Aioi in Sora no Ao wo Shiranai Hito (Her Blue Sky), Takina Inoue in Lycoris Recoil, Asahi Amagami in Amagami-san-chi no Enmikiri (Tying the Knot With an Amagami Sister), Momo Ayase in DAN DA DAN, and many more.

Kazuki Ura: He plays the protagonist Shiki Ichinose, who inherits the blood of an oni, in TOUGEN ANKI. His notable works include Blue Lock, in which he portrays Yoichi Isagi, ZENSHU., where he plays Luke Braveheart, and Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You, in which he plays Kizuki Hazawa.

Yūki Kuwahara: She plays Tohru in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid animation series. She is also famous for her role of Lyrule in the anime High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another.

YingTze: With nearly two decades of cosplay experience, Malaysia's YingTze got her start at AFA's original Moe Moe Kyun maid cafe. YingTze will represent the region for Asia Creators Cross at Niconico Chokaigi 2025 from 26th to 27th April 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.

AFA Creators Hub Partners with Niconico Chokaigi for Asia Creators Cross!
AFA Creators Hub and Niconico Chokaigi have partnered to create a platform for creators' cultural exchange between Japan and Southeast Asia, dubbed Asia Creators Cross (ACC)! An ACC zone will be set up at AFA and Niconico Chokaigi, showcasing independent artists from both regions. Creators who join AFAID25 may be featured in future Niconico Chokaigi events in Japan!

To launch ACC, cosplayer Ying Tze, who began her career at AFA, will represent the region at Niconico Chokaigi 2025 from 26th to 27th April 2025. Meanwhile, the ACC zone in AFAID25 will feature Japanese artists MOMOE (ももえ) and Kou, showcasing their unique style to visitors in Indonesia!
