They haven't even announced a release, let alone a date. If they don't announce it by E3 it isn't leaving Japan.

Kitase confirmed the game is getting localized into English.
They just didn't confirm what platform it'll end up on.

I hope this game gets a U.S. release, I've been looking forward to it for years! Darn the Vita for making it harder to get PSP JRPG's localized...which was already pretty hard to do.
...Dag nab companies makin me upgrade every 3-5 years, lol.

Lots of games get worked on, but never get released. I won't get my hopes up until Square Enix officially announces the game is coming to North America.
Wasn't the talk about a Vita version a mistake?

The Vita version was most likely them playing either a DD download of the game (I think it's available for download on PS Store now), or they used the passport to transfer the game to the Vita.
Either way the way how things are going, sadly, it'll most likely like a DD-only game in english with no physical version... Even if it is 2 disks long and a larger file size to download... I'm sure that's why it's taking so long to have anything announced, is dealing with the whole DD/physical thing.

This game will not be released in the US on PSP.
I guarantee a port announcement for it on 3DS, Vita, or PS3 (potentially a combination of any) soon for an expanded "International Edition" re-release in Japan.

Vita didn't make it harder if anything it makes it easier due to an expansion in userbase for DD sales.
The PSP userbase being what it is in the US made it harder. If the sales for Dissidia 012, The Third Birthday, Tactics Ogre, Lord of Arcana, and Final Fantasy IV: Complete Edition were good in the west this game would've already been announced for localization.
