Nothing says 'practical and functional military attire' for a*Special Forces Unit* of Japan's Self-Defense Force in a nuclear wasteland like a sailor suit and loafers! Oh, Japan! *face palm*
Now why didn't Snake Plissken think of that?

For teenage Japanese girls, the only attire that offers comparable functionality to the sailor uniform is the miko outfit. The seifuku is great for any occasion; fighting monsters, battling superpowered humans, exorcising ghosts, moving around in zero-gravity, and just looking god-darn stylish. And they're machine washable too.

My thoughts... exactly.
I went.. "oh cool" and then saw the picture and went... "oh"
Something more like Airbats would be cool, ne?

They will, and we are slightly lucky they are not in Jr high.

Well, at least (so far) it looks like they didn't take a page from the Queen's Blade/D.O.A. book. A sailor suit and loafers looks like a full suit of armor compared to the also "highly practical" -with their tissue-like durability- thong bikinis they wear.

Just a stab in the dark, but...
Nothing says "nuclear accident" like TENTACLE MONSTERS! And fan service. Wait... is it that kind of show? I'll admit to not knowing, but damned if that front cover isn't telling me any different than what I'm suspecting it is.

So, this is something like K-ON! meets Aliens?
Oh, Japan...

Ok, now I'm actually curious what this actually is.
Is this more serious scifi action that just has the girls as always, even military girls (oh Japan lol) wearing typical sailor-fuku (which ironically enough is actually potentially rather modest with all the overabundance of fanservicy outfits lately, as CareyGrant mentioned LOL) or is this sadly all fluff?

Read the first couple of chapters of the Coppelion manga recently and it's pretty good. It's a bit on the light side without being goofy and deals with serious issues without being "serious business". If you watched Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 about a year ago, you have an idea of what to expect from the tone.
No real fanservice so far [nor any harem nonsense], so that's a plus as far as I'm concerned.

Nice, if that's all the case my interest has been successfully peaked for this, looking forward to it. Thanks!
Saw some of Tokyo Magnitude so I think I follow you there too.

And it's nothing like K-On, by the way, aside from the fact that both feature high school girls. Coppelion isn't purposeless slice-of-life, it has a distinct narrative that it follows.
