The manga sites I've visited all show it as complete with 15 chapters, but I can't quite believe it. It wasn't tied up properly, a lot of questions were unanswered, plus I wasn't satisfied with the development of the characters. 15 chapters is way too short. Was it cancelled or something?

Well, quite a few manga and even anime series end without cleanly tying up all of the loose ends. I guess that many artists and writers leave it to the imagination of the viewer to foresee an ending. Indeed, that's part of the fun.

What series is this we're talking about? I'm not familiar with a series called just "Beauty." Who's the artist? (I found one listing of a series by Aya Oda that's complete at 6 volumes, which would definitely be more than 15 chapters.)

I of course wasn't trying to suggest I was familiar with the series; forgive me. I was just pointing out something that is common among many manga series.

This is when you do something nice and buy the books so the author can get paid and you can get to read [or at least see] the rest

I'm assuming you're referring to Beauty by Aya Oda. As others have mentioned, it is 6 volumes long, but the scanlators have dropped the project at 17 chapters. Unfortunately, seeing how it is not licensed for an English release, unless you know how to read in Japanese, you most likely won't be able to finish it. You can always look online for summaries of the ending. I'm sure someone has it.
