Wow, it's been a long time since I've last read the manga (never got chance to finish reading it), and it's been almost many years since I've last watch the anime. I'm happy to see Akamatsu came out with this artwork to celebrate the anniversary, both Negima and Love Hina are the one that got me dive deep into the anime rabbit-hole when I became a new fan back in 2006.

Maybe it's time for his anime to receive remakes.

Negima already got a reboot back in the day. It'd be nice to see one that actually has the fanservice from the manga. But I think Akamatasu is busy with politics these days.

It remains almost astonishing how Akamatsu ever got so popular when his art is bland to the point of generic and he has no talent for writing whatsoever.

Yeah, I highly doubt that'll happen, Negima already had 2 different anime adaptation, I don't think a remake or another anime adaptation is needed. Negima already has it's run, and I don't see any potential interest of reviving this series. So yeah, don't expect any anime adaptation of it anytime soon.

22 years.. damn I'm getting old..
Not sure if I ever finished Negima, I didn't think it held up to his previous works.. of AI Love you or Love Hina. Never bothered with the spin off.
Love Hina is still one of my favorites, should dig that out again and give it a reread.

On behalf of all his fans, I'm sorry we don't have your enlightened taste in art.

He can literally only draw one face, his stories and trite, repetitive and uninteresting, and he can't write women well. The manga was only ever popular because it was a harem series with fanservice, and there weren't a lot of series at the time with the "magic school" story. There, I said it.

I think you're forgetting just how huge Harry Potter was and still is in Japan to the point there were a lot of magic school series being made even before Negima came out. There certainly was not a lack of magic school media out there for it to be filling a vacuum or lacking stiff competition like Familiar of Zero or Gakuen Alice just to name a few that came out around the same time as Negima. If anything the fact there was such a glut makes its success more impressive since it outlasted so many of the others.

As someone who did try to reread again, let me tell you this: don't.
Enjoy your memories, don't spoil it with a 2025 reread.
