Yo-
So I was at my local Target store today, and I happened to notice that they were carrying Heat Guy J vol. 2: Vampire's Ambition for 14.99. Now, this is a brand-new release, just came out today. Target does not sell anime. Also, it's half price. Extremely odd. Anyway, I snagged it, since I like the show a lot and I'd planned on getting it anyway. Just a heads up for you bargain hunters out there.
As far as I could tell, they didn't have anything else in terms of anime; just this.

Target...carrying anime? Let me guess: they want to compete with Wal-Mart in selling anime.
Either which way, Heat Guy J is a rather unusual choice for Target to carry as their first anime title.

Wow, if I was still at home, that might be great, as a Target opened not more than five hundred feet from my home. I've been very tempted by Heat Guy J, I'm a sucker for a man (android) in a hat and the sound track, if I have not been misled, has struck me as appealing (jazz and bagpipes! holy siit I've gone to heaven [I'm not kidding, I love bagpipes]).
But it's an odd thing for Target to have. One might think they'd try something a little more mainstream or higher profile if they were going to venture to sell anime.

Wow...and I thought Wal-Mart selling .hack//SIGN and AKIRA on a regular basis was bizarre. Well, at least this means anime is becoming an easier product to find.
And yeah...Heat Guy J...odd first title. I'd have picked something a bit more well-known.
And off-topic: Zac, by chance could you please tell me where those sprites in your avatar came from? Unless I'm mistaken, those are Lord of the Rings characters, right?

I tried making an ANime Hot Deals thread, but it didn't last. A thread for it would be good, espeically considering how prices are starting to change.
The only anime I've seen at my Target was the Cowboy Bebop movie. I didn't like it that much.

In my Wal-Mart they sell Akira normally but you don't see alot of Ghost In The Shell. They do have Burn Up W in target that i found quite odd

I've seen random weird things at Wal-mart. Now, I expected Pokémon, DBZ/GT, and Yugioh to be there, since that's all mainstream stuff. The Cowboy Bebop Movie was slightly surprising to see there, but not really with it's endless CN run and such. They also had the Miyazaki movies.
Things that caught me off guard were; .hack//sign #1 & #3, Chobits #2, Argentosoma (sp?), RahXephon, Yu Yu Hakusho #2 Edited. I found it surprising that they had these titles, and even more amusing as they seemed to only have these random numbers.
EDIT: Speed Racer was also there.

I work at Target and I saw Heat Guy J on a front endcap next to The Lion King. That was very weird.
Also, it seems that Target decided to create a anime section now for there DVD's. I went to it and saw copies of Cowboy Bebop Vol.1, Rahxephon vol.1, and Samurai X: Director's Cut only for 19.99. Very odd.

Best buy started and everyone kept following. I'm not sure if this is the case but I'm sure Walmart and Bestbuy take off 5 dollars off when you buy a DVD on the first day of it's release.
I got spirited away at Walmart for 16 dollars and change.

Funny, the local Target only had Hello Kitty. Maybe I just miss them.

the Target near me sells Miyazaki/Disney released movies, DBZ/DBGT, Yugi-oh, Speed Racer, as well as some other various but somewhat mainstream anime titles...
and since there are more Wal'Marts than Targets near me I've noticed that they all sell anime, but none of them sell the same titles...

Wow, a new anime release at Target? The ones by my house usually carry old titles (i.e. FMP is up to Volume 4 right now, the Targets around me might have volume 2).
I still like Best Buy though, but I will keep a heads up, because it might be cheaper at Wal-Mart/Target then at Best Buy.
Thanks for the heads up!

Walmart's really slow with anime too. They had Chobits Vol.2 a month ago, heat guy J, Miyazaki, RahXephon vol.3. All aroud 20 bucks but Chobits was 22 bucks. There were some others too.

I went into my local Target store today and was suprised to see they had an anime section. There prices ($19.99 and lower for dvds)and selction were pretty good. They had the following titles: Heat Guy J, X, Full Metal Panic, Escaflowne the Movie, Spriggan, Jin Roh, Dragonball GT, Tenchi Muyo OVA 1, Love Hina, Cowboy Bebop the Movie and Tv Series, RahXephon, and the one that suprised me the most was Robotech. Even though they only had the first Vol. of alot of these series (proably trying to figure out which series to continue) it makes me think that Target might have a future in the anime indusrty
