My friend told me something about Naruto and I was wondering if it was true. He told me that Naruto is such a long series, because it goes all the way until Naruto becomes hokage when he is 53 or something. If so...that's really lame..

Uh, no. Naruto's a long series, but it's not that long yet. So far, there are 33 volumes out in Japan so far, and Naruto's not hokage yet. However, the story has advanced 3 years and so the characters are all older. But from the way things are in the story right now, it looks like it won't be ending anytime soon.

It's a action/shonen series. Almost all mega-popular shonen series are over 20 volumes because a) It takes ALOT of chapters to tell a single fight and b) They want to milk every possible cent out of it.

The reason Naruto is so long is because it's so popular, there's no reason to stop it.

Well, it's always possible that that might happen in a series ending epologue or something. Like when Digimon Season 2 ended. Basically a chapter/episode skipping ahead in time, after the adventure is over to see how the characters are doing/if they ever met their goals/etc.

Just stop complaining...It's not like we can tell the author to stop...-__-...I mean what would you do if your series was like one of the most popular series? would you end it, or keep going to make more money?
Either way, people will always yap about a series being too long, or too short, or had a sucky ending, etc. Thus this thread is sort of pointless in a way.

judging from the current arc, i think it's heading towards the end. my prediction is about 10 more volumes, unless they drag the Akatsuki thing out longer.

Who knows, I've wondered for a while that if the creator would go as far as to put Naruto through a marriage and continue the story with Naruto's son, or daughter, in a quest to become Ho-kage...

Son of Naruto ...
I'd go for a 50-year-old ninja questing to be Hokage. But he had better be a 50-year-old salaryman ninja. And he should be trapped in a meaningless, empty relationship with a screechy, overbearing wife and rediscover his manly manliness (and jutsu abilities) when he meets a free-spirited young woman with an unquenchable thirst for life.

Hahaha... or maybe with the sudden interest in homosexuality, a Brokeback Village Hidden In The Leaves.
I really hope all of you realized I was not being serious when I wrote sbout Naruto's son, well I was serious that [they] might milk that project until then, but I'm not hoping for this to happen. I always believed that a new "Rurouni Kenshin" series was gonna be continued with Kenji, I think thats his name, after RK ended.

Willie Nelson could do the theme! "Ninjas are frequently, secretly fond of each other"
