Big K's Anime

Seen some Rating Comment
(The) Adventures of the Little Prince (TV)
Berserk (TV 1997) Good
Blue Submarine No.6 (OAV)
Cardcaptor Sakura (TV) So-so Run of the mill magical girl show yet strangely intriguing... :)
Dai-Guard (TV) Decent
Dragon Ball (TV) Good
Dragon Ball GT (TV) Weak
Dragon Warrior (TV)
Eyeshield 21 (TV) Very good American-rules football may have been portrayed in Anime before (Sailor Moon and an episode of Pokemon come to mind) but the game has never been the focus of its own series before. Since football is still fairly new to most Japanese, the show slowly covers the rules ala Hikaru no Go. It might not be the best anime out there and the producers may have goofed on a few of the rules of the game but I, as a huge Football fan, am loving every minute of this show.
FLCL (OAV) I don't know what to make of this series to be honest. Alot of people loved it by I just couldn't get into it. Would it have helped if I was a young teenager again to appreciate this series? Was it too artsy for my taste? Should I be smoking pot while watching this? I DON'T KNOW!!!!
Gatchaman (TV)
Gigantor (TV 1963)
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Very good I NEED to see more of this!
Gurren Lagann (TV)
Hamtaro (TV) So-so
Hikaru no Go (TV) Good Ahh... I like this series. If only they made an anime series that revolved around the game of chess then maybe there would be less freaks at the chess tournaments that I bring my brother to.
Inuyasha (TV) So-so
Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers (TV)
Little Women (TV)
Lupin the 3rd (TV) Good
Maple Town Stories (TV) Decent /Can't wait to get to Maple Town /My favorite place to be /Maple town and me!
Mazinger Z (TV)
Mobile Fighter G Gundam (TV) Bad Gundams from around the galaxy fighting in a tournament to see who will rule over all until the next tournament. One word: RIDICULOUS!
Mobile Suit Gundam (TV) Good
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (OAV) So-so
New Fist of the North Star (OAV) Very good Caught a screening of the first ep. at BAAF 2003. A true crowd please if you happen to like delayed head explosions. :)
Ping Pong Club (TV) Very good If there is an anime that I would watch over and over and over again, this is IT! Often compared to South Park, it is far from it. It is more comparable to Beavis and Butthead.
Pocket Monsters: Diamond & Pearl (TV) Good
Pokémon Advance (TV) Decent
Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) Good
Samurai Pizza Cats (TV)
Speed Racer (TV)
Transformers: The Headmasters (TV)
Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend (OAV) Not really good The only anime to give me nightmares. Seriously.
Urusei Yatsura (TV 1981) Good
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie)
Welcome to the NHK (TV)
Yu-Gi-Oh! (TV 1/1998) Weak
Zoids (TV) Bad

Ah! My Goddess (TV) Excellent Let's see... we have here a beautiful goddess who is always in a good mood and would worry about your well-being and cook your meals. Now that's HOT!
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Good
(The) Animatrix (OAV) Very good
Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (TV) Good
(The) Big O (TV) Very good The show pulled off an "Evangelion" in the last episode. Good but it's enough to make you go crazy.
Black Lagoon (TV) Excellent
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Good The comedic violence and gore alone is enough just to check this show out.
Bubblegum Crash (OAV) Decent Not a bad series at all. However, the voice actor for Priss has changed significantly and Priss' attitude towards Boomers is a huge departure from the original series.
Bubblegum Crisis (OAV) Excellent The first subtitled anime I saw back in 1992. Got hooked on anime since.
Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 (TV) Excellent I was very skeptical of this title but I was truly impressed when I saw it.
Burn Up! (OAV) Not really good A T and A flick with no frontal nudity and run-of-the-mill police-action-movie plot.
Cool Devices (OAV) Decent
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Excellent A outstanding sci-fi western which is more realistic than other anime by virtue of the main characters being adults instead of hot-shot teenaged kids who are somehow commissioned military officers and who pilot giant robot thingies.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Excellent I'm not a die hard fan of Cowboy Bebop but this movie rocked!
Dragon Ball Z (TV) So-so I don't understand why the fight scenes need to last 10 episodes but really dragged this series. The only good parts of the series is when there is no fighting and no immediate danger to the world. That's when we get to see the heroes try to live normal lives to great comical effect and grow-up as a family.
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks (special) Good Ok... whose stupid idea was it to put American rock music into the dub?
Dragon Knight (OAV) So-so
Fist of the North Star (movie) Decent
Fushigi na Koala Blinky (TV) Good Ah... I remember Koala-wala land back in the day. Wish I could see this one again.
Fushigi Yugi (TV) Excellent I'm not really into the chick stuff but this was really good.
Genesis Climber Mospeada (TV) Very good
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Very good An excellent sci-fi action flick on the surface. Unfortunately, trying to fully understand the modus operandi of the "bad guy" and the deeper question of A.I.'s having souls or the similarities between the human life-cycle and A.I. life-cycle or whatever the hell it was, especially when the subtitles go by a little too quickly, restricted me from FULLY enjoying this movie.
Ghost Stories (TV) Very good Run of the mill boring anime turned into pure funny awesomeness by the intentional disregard of the original script by the dub actors and writer. Pure f-ing genius!
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) Masterpiece
Golgo 13: Queen Bee (OAV) Good Interesting twists in this one. Go Duke Togo!
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Masterpiece One of the best animated movies anywhere! The main character could have made smarter choices but that wouldn't make for a good tragedy.
Guardian of Darkness (OAV) Decent I won this DVD at the Anime Idol VA contest finals during the Big Apple Anime Fest 2003. I enjoyed it (maybe because I got it for free).
Gunsmith Cats (OAV) Very good Kenichi Sonoda is one of my all-time people in the Anime/Manga industry and the reasons why are displayed in this show. It may seem like your run-of-the-mill action show but one must appreciate the research that the creators did to make it. As a card carrying member of the NRA, I just love how Gunsmith Cats has payed so much attention to detail to the firearms in the show especially the Rally's M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. :) And if you're a fan of muscle car's, alot of work went into the details of Shelby Cobra. But what's most impressive is how they made the Chicago area really look like the Chicago area. I watched the show with Japanese audio and not once did the language make me think that the show was NOT set in Chicago.
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Masterpiece
Lupin III: Dragon of Doom (special) Good
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie) Excellent
Macross Plus (OAV) Good
Magical Girl Pretty Sammy (OAV) Decent
Millennium Actress (movie) Masterpiece
Mobile Suit Gundam - The Movie Trilogy Very good
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (OAV) Good
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (movie) So-so
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV) Good (edit.dub), Very good (sub) Couldn't help but think that there is some sort of anti-war message because... I love war, unilateral or otherwise, and Halliburton. United Nations be damned!
(The) Mysterious Cities of Gold (TV 1) Masterpiece An underrated classic that was broadcast on Nickelodeon in the 80's. I want this on DVD! UPDATE: After 20 years I have begun watching this show over again even though the recording quality sucks. Unlike some of the other 80's cartoons I've revisted in the past couple of years, The Mysterious Cities of Gold's animation still looks as good as I remember it as a kid and the story is even more compelling now. Because the show has aged so well, I am upgrading my rating of the show to "Masterpiece." Definetely a MUST SEE!
Nasu: Summer in Andalusia (movie) Very good
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent
New Cutey Honey (OAV) Good
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Very good
Patlabor the Mobile Police (TV) Excellent
Patlabor The Mobile Police (OAV 1/1988) Very good
Patlabor: The Movie (movie 1) Good
Perfect Blue (movie) Masterpiece Satoshi Kon's directorial debut proves to be an OUTSTANDING Psycho-Horror-Thriller-Suspense-filled ride of a movie. Although not my favorite genre, Director Kon kept me glued to my seat as I try to ponder the circumstances of the main character's detiorating mental health and the answer was... well... go see for yourself. NOT FOR KIDS however!
Pokémon (TV) Good Yes. I rated it "good." I never let hype or anti-hype cloud my judgement. However, Later Johto League episodes are lacking in substance. Ahh, the joys of having almost no anime friends to tell me what I should watch.
Pokémon 2000 - The Movie (movie 2) Decent
Pokémon 3 - The Movie (movie 3) Decent
Pokémon 4Ever (movie 4) So-so
Pokémon Heroes - Latias & Latios (movie 5) Weak
Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys (movie 7) Decent
Pokémon: Jirachi Wish Maker (movie 6) Decent
Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns (special) Weak
Pokémon: The First Movie (movie 1) Not really good
Project A-ko (movie) Excellent I first saw this back in 1992. At first I didn't get many of the parodies and jokes but after each viewing, I had an increased appreciation for this movie. May not be a good one for newer anime fans.
Project A-ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group (OAV) Decent
Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody (OAV) So-so
Project A-ko 4: Final (OAV) Very good A very good ending to a classic old school anime series. Though you need to see all of the series to understand who some of the characters are.
Project A-ko: Uncivil Wars (OAV) Weak This 2-episode series is a total departure from the original A-ko universe. Not impressed.
Re: Cutie Honey (OAV) Very good Another example of an anime remake I thought was going to be a bust but was proven dead wrong at the end. As a fan of the original Cutie Honey universe, I first thought the stylized character designs were going to ruin the show, but I should have known not to judge a book by its cover. The style of the character design actually worked quite well as the fight/action scenes were beautifully executed. Add comedy and a lot of nudity to it and you've got a pretty damned good anime!
Read or Die (OAV) Very good I'm pretty sure the U.S. President in this series was a Democrat. :)
Riding Bean (OAV) Very good I wish they made more episodes of this one. Very fun. Just don't watch the dub.
Robotech (U.S. TV) Good Just like a lot of people, this series was one of my first exposures to anime.
Sailor Moon (TV) Decent After a small loss of interest in anime in 1995, this series got me rehooked on anime. It must have been the deep plot. :)
Sailor Moon R (TV) Decent
Sailor Moon R: The Movie Good
Sailor Moon S (TV) Very good
Sailor Moon S: The Movie Good
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (TV) Very good
Sailor Moon SuperS (TV) Not really good
Shinesman (OAV) Good Was pleasantly surprised with this parody of Power Ranger-type shows. Too bad it was short lived.
Spirited Away (movie) Excellent An enjoyable movie but it is not Miyazaki's best movie. I felt there was something awry with the film but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie Decent Movie plot: baaadd / Chun-li shower seen: gooood. That plus some good fight scenes (the final fight comes to mind) saved this movie from total disaster.
(The) Super Dimension Fortress Macross (TV) Excellent
(The) Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? (movie) Excellent
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: The Movie (OAV) Decent
Tenchi Forever!: The Movie Excellent I thought I was going to hate this movie when looking at the different character designs. It may be chick-flickish but I really enjoyed it.
Tenchi in Tokyo (TV) Weak I love the Tenchi Muyo! franchise but I couldn't stand this one.
Tenchi Muyo! (OAV 1/1992) Very good
Tenchi Muyo! Mihoshi Special So-so
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki (OAV 3/2003) Very good
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (OAV 2/1994) Very good
Tenchi Muyo! The Night Before The Carnival (OAV) Very good
Tenchi the Movie - Tenchi Muyo in Love Good
Tenchi The Movie 2 - The Daughter of Darkness Good
Tenchi Universe (TV) Very good
Tokyo Godfathers (movie) Excellent Lot's of fast paced action and comedy sprinkled into a somewhat serious plot. Easily one of my all-time favorite anime films. If you were one of the few who saw this at the World Premier, you definitely had lot's fun watching it.
Transformers (U.S. TV) Good
Vandread (TV) Excellent
Venus Wars (movie) Decent
Voltron (U.S. TV) Decent

Will not finish Rating Comment

Mega Man (U.S. TV)
MegaMan NT Warrior (TV) Bad
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Bad
Outlaw Star (TV) Not really good
Pilot Candidate (TV) Awful Someone, please shoot me! :) Watching this is like giving yourself herpes.
Reign: The Conqueror (TV) Weak Had a promising plot but way too much man flesh for me.
Stratos 4 (TV) Weak
Strawberry Eggs (TV)
Transformers: Armada (TV) Bad I may take a second look at this one only if Peter Cullen would reprise his role of Optimus Prime.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files (TV) Not really good I enjoyed the first story arc of this series but the series strayed from my tastes when Yusuke started fighting all them mean monsters.
