Is interesting, when the trailer for this first ran during the Nintendo presentation, it looked like the character creation wasn't gender-locking stuff like hairstyles & such. I'd infinitely prefer a system like this, where you pick how characters talk to you from a list, as opposed to the more-generic "type A/B & call it a day" stuff that some games are lazily going with these days. I assume if they have such an open-ended system already, the romances are not gender-locked either? Until a hard-confirm comes in, they still look like they're just roommates....
I'm interested in how well this one is gonna wind up performing, because this looks like this may actually be their first DirectX 12 title (unfortunate if so), and Atelier Yumia did not benefit at all from that swap - I'm assuming this is an entirely new engine they're using.
If both boxes are checked, I'll likely give this one a look at some point down the line after Azuma. Odd they have two so close to each other, but I also realise some players just want to farm & don't fancy the combat aspects of Rune Factory.

I haven't seen same-gender romance explicitly confirmed yet, mainly because it looks like previews haven't had the chance, but I suspect the answer is yes - every release since the FOMT remake except Rune Factory 3 Special (which was a remaster of a game that didn't have a female PC) has had it, and this looks to be a way more expansive remake than RF3S. (Update in edits: Having time to watch more previews, Noisy Pixel on Youtube confirms, no gender-lock.)
I HAVE seen other previews who got the chance to get their hands on the game. Haven't had a chance to watch all of them yet, but from the one I watched so far (Miss Bubbles on Youtube,) both Guardians of Azuma and this played fairly well on a work laptop the previewer didn't own; Guardians had noticeable pop-in issues on Switch but otherwise ran better than 5 as I recall (not a high bar to clear,) but this one ran well on Switch, at least in the areas shown.

This preview confirmed my worst nightmare: they changed Dirk's name to Derek...
but in all seriousness, I'm really excited! the Bazaar system was really fun in the DS version and it made planning a lot more interesting
