It really is funny, when you think about it, how often any sort of team in any sort of media is going to have certain sterotypes, isn't it? It's like we feel cheated if the comander isn't humanitarian enough.

This is a fun one to flip through at the bookstore for the nice artwork. Aside from that, I've got to agree, it's pretty dull.

I can't help but be annoyed that we get this, but still no Crossbone Gundam. Sure, you'll be kind of lost if you haven't seen Gundam F-91 (only one movie, though), but dude, PIRATE Gundams! That's got to count for something.

Minor nitpick: Universal Century Goufs and Doms do not have incomprehensible acronyms for names, and thus should not be written out in all caps. That little horror only applies to SEED Destiny's "GOUF Ignited" and "DOM Trooper." Wink

That aside, yeah, the review is pretty much spot-on. It's not even that good as a Gundam story, as Tomohiro Chiba didn't hit his stride until the Gundam SEED Astray series. Of course, given how this was only two volumes long and meant as a weird adaptation/companion thingy to a little-known PS2 game, one wonders just how much room he had to work with in actually planning a story and fleshing out characters to begin with.

Gundam generally isn't really known for good manga series...except Crossbone Gundam. That's a darn good series.

I have a whole new respect for the F91 lineage...*here's hoping for a F91 TV series remake*

Well, it generally isn't known for good manga adaptations. When they adapt their TV series or video games to manga (as in this case), they tend to fall horribly, horribly short. But the original manga works (Astray, Crossbone, Char's Deleted Affair, even photo novels like Sentinel for the sake of argument) tend to fair much better on average.
