The Black Cat Anime section (#5245) has only 23 Episodes listed, yet according to Online retail sites, there should be 24 (24 Funimation titles are listed on said sites).

It's true that there seem to be 24 episodes—see TRSI and CD Japan. However, TBS's official Black Cat site lists 23, plus two extras of some sort. The twenty-fourth episode seems to be an OAV and something similar, and is likely to need a new Encyclopedia entry.
Hmm—it seems that episode 15 was not broadcast. Can anyone (someone who actually reads Japanese, for example ^_^; ) shed light on this? (For reference, (NSFW) the full Getchu.com listing of Black Cat. |

The two non-numbered items on the episode listing on the TBS site are the two endings, just like the first two non-numbered items are the two openings.
Now, looking on there, they do only show 23 episodes. However, if you look at the DVD info for volume 12, it does indeed say that episodes 23 and 24 are on there. Checking the rest of the DVDs, as well as the episode list... DVDs 1-7 hold the same episodes 1 through 14 that are on the episode list DVD 8 holds an episode 15 not on the episode list, and an episode 16 which is episode 15 on the list. However, there is no skipped week in which this could have been aired. DVD 9-12 hold the episodes listed as 17-24 on the DVDs, but 16-23 on the DVDs. So the extra episode is DVD15, which is entitled Toozakaru Neko (toozakaru means "to go far off", but how to translate that into an understandable English title is beyond my abilities). Interestingly enough, wikipedia, which lists it as a 23 episode series, does include Toozakaru Neko (translated there as "A Retreating Cat") in their episode list, but lists it as having aired on February 2, 2006, and pushing the rest of the episodes back by a week. |

I don't know any Japanese but the DVD lists episode 15 as "The Distant Cat," so maybe use the official US release for the English episode title?
Oh, I forgot, here, link. What the heck did I just type? Five words and three commas? One of these days I'll have a comprehension of the English language and then maybe I can start learning another one. |
