It is my favorite recent anime , and the manga is even better.
Something about weilding a big ass sword makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Its inspired me to try to find a local forge to try and create such a monster. Just imagine!

BEST FANTASY TV SHOW, EVER. Honestly, has there ever been a fantasy-themed television series, animated or not, that has Berzerk's level of intelligence and skill? Has there? And don't tell me "Lodoss!" because only those OAVs held any semblance of quality, and the TV series was badly animated and had a plot that went everywhere and ended up nowhere.

I love the cover art on the manga, and the evolution of gatts's strength and even his sword is facinating. as for compensation, "no people no" not that kind!
think about it he has no defense, so his sword is both offense and defense, my fav scene in the anime was when they went to get griffith out of jail.
The torturer was talking smack to gatts and was all confident in the doors strength. then gatts just impales him through the door as if it weren't even there. Then he goes on a rampage up the circling staircase, and impales yet another man and uses him as a shield. Great stuff!
Oh and the fight in the sand storm was great too. The end of that one episode that has gatts looking all twisted just before the fight was great.
Alot of people want to relate it to the Zelda series. You have puck the faery and gatts has a sword. set in medieval times, hmmmm.
I"m waiting for wind waker.
To bad puck wasn't in the anime. I watched an episode of Gargoyles out of the blue and they had a character named puck. You can see the ripoffs everywhere. but hey its for inspiration i guess

I'll add my own adulations to everyone else's over Berserk. Personally speaking, Griffith is the sort of antagonist that got me into anime in the first place.
It wasn't just B-ko's battle suit after all.

When I first thought about dabbling in Anime (seen Akira and mainstream stuff), I downloaded an anime music video. It was called, 'Chop Suey' and it was a Berserk one. INSTANTLY I became a hardcore fan. I downloaded the first 6 or so episodes and said "#### this, I'm buyin it!" and went out and bought the LAST box set of it at the local foreign/anime shop.
In my next trip to the big city, I plan on getting the Manga (I downloaded it, but don't know a good pic viewing software to use, and opening each one one at a time, and resizing it, is a huge pain.). Hey, anyone have a recommendation for a pic view for comics?
Of course it is my fav anime series, and will likely remain one until I grow old and grey (ok, maybe even after then ).
I suggest anyone who wants to get people into anime, that they show them that chop suey music video. It's brilliant!!!! The song, the cuts, EVERYTHING! Then they'll get hooked and demand to see the series
Cheers,
GWP.
PS. I pray for another season.

I have that music video too, its freakin awesome, I"ve got all eps downloaded too. If anybody has [EDIT - NO, no filesharing. -C] I can get them to you. Ah hell I might make a website from my student account make it easier who says you don't get anything from universities.
I haven't seen the series dubbed, is it good?
I'm pretty sure if you wait long enough they'll bring the berserk manga to the us. Especially after all this kenshin stuff going on, I really wish they'd animate the jinchuu arc.
I've read that they do plan on finishing the berserk series, but there still in storyboarding.
If you looking for another good music video to berserk check out the one that goes to "The fight song" by marilyn manson, I'm not a big fan of his but it was really good though, his style is perfect for gatts' sword slashing.

Yes, I like it--I've been renting it from Blockbuster as it comes out. At first it was a bit too shounen for me with the animation style but after the first episode, the plot and characterization kicked in and it's something I want to continue watching. It does have a lot of depth.

Berserk is one of _the_ best anime ever.. but what about the sequel? I've read somewhere in the ANN news that season 2 is due to by aired in May 2003.
Is that a fact or just a rumour?
BTW anime was cool, but the manga.. just pure greatness
