posted on by Egan Loo
A media tie-in information sheet from Kadokawa Group Publishing's Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint has announced that an anime adaptation of Gakuto Mikumo's Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian (Dantalian no Shoka) light novel series is in the works. More details will be provided in the August issue of Kadokawa Shoten's The Sneaker magazine on June 30.
The story centers around a young man named Huey who inherited a musty old estate, as well the entire book collection contained therein, from his grandfather. Huey meets Dalian, a girl in a black dress who is quietly reading in the basement piled high with books. Dalian controls the gateway to the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian, the forbidden books of demonic wisdom.
Besides Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian, Mikumo also wrote the Asura Cryin' light novel series that inspired the television anime of the same name. Greenwood's G Yusuke has been illustrating Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian since it began serialization in The Sneaker in 2008, and the fifth compiled book volume shipped in April. Chako Abeno (sola, White Album) launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in March, and Monaco Sena launched a separate Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian: Dalian Days manga in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine that same month.
