Mao should be No. 1 on the list.
One Piece is still popular that's why Sanji gets the No. 1 spot. |

Very neat choice Gia, I too would have picked Sanji first and Komatsu second.
One Piece is one of my favorite shows and Toriko is second on that list. Though Toriko has more food elements than One Piece, One Piece sure makes cooking look really cool. Exceptional article, I really enjoyed reading it. |

Of course Sanji gets number one. Everything he cooks looks so freaking delicious!

Is it any coincidence that the finale of Food Network Star is Sunday? :3
(all hail The Sandwich King) Also, point of contention: Sasami wouldn't make the time-traveling microwave, that's Washu's (and inevitably Mihoshi's) doing. |

Good choices, but please allow me to recommend some unlicensed yet far, far more realistic food magicians:
Shuntarō Akagi of Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime picks the raw material, then passes it to Shōta Sekiguchi of Shōta no Sushi for sushi or Kō Ōsawa of Le chef cuisinier de l'Ambassadeur for French cuisine, coupled with wine picked by Kana Itsuki of La Sommelière, followed by sweets made by Sōta Koyurugi of Un chocolatier de l'amour perdu after meal. Wow, three out of five titles were in French.
I wonder if the mangaka had ever explained why Liu and most male characters with names had very long hair, while nameless background male characters had the typical Qing Dynasty male hairstyle: shaven with a long pigtail. Not following the hairstyle was punishable by the death penalty back then. |

What no Ms Howmei from Martian Successor Nadesico? Or Akito Tenkawa himself for that matter...

I'd imagine food Sanji makes would taste like paper to a person in real life. |

Another great list. As for the newest poll, let's just say that there are certain days where I would definitely avoid going to the Minami house for dinner.

For next weeks poll: there was the "Iron Chef" episode in MyHime and, let's just say that all of the judges needed to be taken to the hospital by ambulence when it was over. Out of the participants, Mai actually *is* a really good cook, but the others... not so much.

I'm a little disappointed by the lack of Iron Wok Jan on either the list or the poll (I think he qualifies for both!). That's a chef who's not easily forgotten!

If I were to have any one of those chefs in my house personally, I'd choose Ono from Antique Bakery in a heartbeat. Maybe it's Fumi Yoshinaga's orgasmic food descriptions all over the manga (seeing how she is a foodie herself), but dude, I don't just see him make pastries, I can practically taste those suckers! Yoshinaga's descriptions of what's in them and how they're made and texture of the food, it's just awesome! And he does cook some savory stuff too. I can't say I feel like I can straight up taste any other anime/manga chef's food just by looking at it. I don't know if they put the food descriptions in the anime, but dude, they are all over the manga.
As for the worst cook, is being a bad cook all Akane Tendo can do in most chapters/episodes? What a sexist dominating character trait, and this is coming from a female mangaka! I don't recall anyone having cooking problems in Maison Ikkoku and then promptly being defined by it (well a few characters were very good at cooking apparently, not good enough for this list, and everyone else could manage). |

Well, from a presentation standpoint, Akane would appear to be the worst chef on that poll, but she tries so hard that I'd probably choke it all down without complaint. Kana, on the other hand, is useless and annoying, so she deserves to get whatever she cooks mashed into her face. So, she'll get the nod as the cook whose food I'd least want to eat.

I've always wanted to try Dent's cooking from Pocket Monsters Best Wishes. Unlike Takeshi, who made basic campfire stews and stuff, he can actually make 5 star desserts after just picking some random fruit off a tree... and keeps a huge stove and kitchen in his backpack apparently. Truly a master chef who can do that.
