I'm glad I'm not the only one who will never forgive or forget Kizuna no Allele having a segment to push NFTs. I haven't watched the show and after that, have 0 interest. But I'll always remember it for that shit. This isn't like the Lycoris thing where some exec tries to leech of the popularity and makes NFTs of the show as merch. This is dedicating a couple minutes of the show itself to NFT propaganda. Like those "the more you know" segments in old cartoons (or the road safety bits in Boonboomger) but to push an unethical scam on the audience
Just awful

Surprised you didn’t mention Viral Hit, with the whole impetus of the show being “Guy tries to get internet famous to pay his mother’s medical bills by getting into brawls. Also he’s being trained by YouTube videos with a guy who clearly played Art of Fighting back in the day.” Granted at least there it’s not pushing real life NFT’s or other unethical practices, although they do a parody of sponsored content in one episode that’s surprisingly funny.

I don't think shilling merchandise is unethical. It's a staple of Vtubing and content creation in general. The girls will always advertise and promot their new merchandise during streams or even do sponsored segments to promote an upcoming game or something. As long as it's disclosed something is being promoted I think it's fine.
I agree Kiui's story was the best thing about YoruKura and I hope we get a season 2 sometime to see more of her and the other girls but if not then I'm fine with where the story ended as well. I would like to see if her and Koharu hook up down the line though In general I'm glad Vtubing is becoming more common in anime and it makes me wonder if we'll ever see a full on Hololive anime. We've gotten promos and shorts and skits and cameos in other anime but a full blown anime would be fun.

Merch is fine. I'm a huge mecha fan and a lot of the best of those shows exist basically as merch adverts for models of the robots and such
The problem is that I consider NFTs highly unethical and to dedicate part of the runtime of the show to a biased explanation on support of NFTs is an extremely bad move on my eyes. It doesn't really explain what NFTs are in a way you'll understand why many hate it. Instead the show gives you the same kind of narrative techbros were using to push that shit

No mention of the other PA Works show that has an Internet content creator in it.

The thing about vtuber legend that struc outk me was that the main character -- can't remember her name, satsuma imoko will do -- was drawn in real life wearing her vtuber rig, which... really ties into the audience-perspective point, I think.
Not that pandering makes an *inherently* bad show but you do kinda start behind the eight ball.
