In contrast, others directly take over roles that other characters once filled—or, to be more specific, sorry, Nrvnqsr Chaos fans, but he doesn't physically appear anywhere in TBGM. He's been replaced by the frankly much cooler Vlov Arkhangel, whose battle against Arcueid is the perfect example of how TBGM has clearly taken some cues from Witch on the Holy Night.

As someone who's interest in the Tsukihime franchise is entirely based on playing Nrvnqsr Chaos in Melty Blood on my friends laptop back in highschool, the fact that -A piece of blue glass moon-'s changes to the story made it so that Nrvnqsr wasn't playable in the new Melty Blood Type Lumina (because of a directive from Type Moon to French Bread to make the stories line up) makes me really resent this VN (and Vlov in particular). (Side Note: Really Type Moon!? having Nrvnqsr playable would go against the lore, but having Saber, Mash, Dantes, AND Ushiwakamaru from Fate & F/GO playable is just fine!?!??!?!?! Get Outta Here!!!)

Not to mention the way they worsened (note: subjective opinion) the two main girls' designs to make them more generically waifu-bait (Shrinking Arc's iconic long skirt and making her just yet another Saber-Face; Removing Ciel's copious tattoos).

For me the question is did it remove / exclude the more infamous sexually violent / rapey material thats reputation kept me from investigating the original.

The mini skirt version has been around at least as long as the newer melty blood games.

I thought it was funny how they changed Arc's skirt because apparently it wasn't fashionable, but the remake took so long to come out that by the time it did, long skirts became fashionable again. (And no, there wasn't a mini skirt replacement until the remake designs were shown, years before it came out)

...I will probably check this out...eventually. Maybe I'll wait until all the routes are out via sequels or whatever. The original was a special thing for me, so I'm perhaps just a little too terrified the remake won't hit for some reason. I'll probably get over it...

Loool it's amazing that you like, coincidentally somehow hit the exact criteria needed to absolutely despise this remake ahahah. Vlov also being completely busted and top tier in Type Lumina probably doesn't help his case in your eyes either.
Nrvnqsr Chaos much like Sion, have been given much bigger lore status upgrades, and are currently making recurring appearances in FGO, so I guess ol' Nasu didn't want them just casually being playable characters or showing up in the Tsukihime remake just yet. It's funny you brought up the 4 FGO characters as being bs appearances, because the connection to Fate Grand Order is probably the only chance Sion or Chaos have of making it into Type Lumina in some way haha.

As for the new designs for Arc and Ciel, I think they're both just fine and pretty good, but I absolutely hear the complaints about removing Arc's long skirt and Ciel's tatt's. The latter especially looked much cooler and more distinct with the tattoo's than without. I will say Arc wasn't "made another generic Saber-face" at all, that's just how Takeuchi draws her these days hahaha, you can look up a chart about how his art and changed and evolved over the years, and he's just stuck in the Saber vortex, with no sign of ever leaving.

Anyway, negativity aside, I think this is really cool to see finally localized! I don't play VN's and I'm not about to start, but I'm glad to see Type Moon finally embracing that overseas market instead of being weird about it like they have for so many years. With FSN Realta Nua on the horizon as well, and the simuldub/release of Fate Strange Fake, the series has never looked better for overseas fans.

I am getting the english version just for the sake of having it, I've already gone through the JP release and its a mixed bag. As mentioned previously the outright deletion of characters was a no go for me. I had to take it with a grain of salt that this was only adapting near side of the moon, and not far side. This leaves some plot holes that once seen cannot be unseen, to that I am hoping they adapt the other routes.

On one hand, the addition of other characters did well, particularly with Ciel's route as mentioned. However I view this remake like starwars fans view the trilogy remasters. In essence it does make things prettier, it also at least IMO does take away some of the soul that made the original VN so great.

Is it better then the original.. No. Is it bad.. No. with the caveat.. at this point.

I am largely holding my overall opinion until if and or when they do the far side of the moon routes. How they handle Hisui and Kohaku in particular will make or break this for me.

For those commenting on incest, rape..gore.. etc. Gonna be 100% here Type Moon is probably not your bag.

I hope it retains the same kinda downbeat vibes and tone of the original, that was what made me sorta prefer it to Fate/Stay Night back in the day of having the time to read it through multiple times. Unsure if having scenes like Ciel's dark backstory of how her original life ended and the buildup to it will be better fully depicted, if they kept that part of the story.

The funny thing about that is that long skirts weren't particularly fashionable in the period the game came out in, so Arc wearing one read to me as being natural as part of how she was meant to be viewed as slightly "off."

It really is a shame that as doujinsoft, there's no legal way to obtain the original Tsukihime now. Regardless of which version of the game one likes more, not having the ability to compare and contrast for oneself is a detriment to everybody.

The review article states...

Most of these changes are additions (EX: new characters, new moments), but a few are removals (EX: Nrvnqsr Chaos, the H scenes).

However, the game is M(ature) rated. (With its content descriptors of Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes.)

So far, it's was just basically Roa-Ciel (previously was in her birthday suit, to now a mix of red and black colors across her body.)

Not sure what the heck that's supposed to mean lmao. Point to me where Fate does this egregiously.

Umm … Fate Stay/Night has a character who was raped multiple times by their brother until they went mad and murdered him?

I said "egregious" for a reason. That post is acting like Type-Moon properties just casually fling that shit around and if you can't take the heat you should leave. But that's not true at all, the Fate story you're referring too is told in a very sincere way with the gravity it deserves, and it's likely the only example you can come up with from Fate.
I'm just calling out that post for the bs it is, Type-Moon typically don't do edge for edginess sake, which is what they were implying.
