This series has been a standout for us, we've really been enjoying it. I absolutely dig political dramas so it's very much my jam.

This one fell by the wayside for me so I'm planning on catching up on it this season. It sounds exactly like what I'd like.

I feel like the main thing holding back Yatagarasu, aside from the absurd amount of names, is its rather dry aesthetic. That isn't a knock against it; indeed the subdued & cold look matches it's tone perfectly, while its pacing is propulsive enough to never let the story sag. However, traditionally anime fans, particularly western ones, seem to find themselves alienated by historical shows that have a heavy, somewhat old-fashioned period drama feel to them. You need either a bright and colourful palette, such as Apothecary Diaries or Raven the Inner Palace, or some unique quirk to get the more casual elements of the fandom to so much as bat an eye. Hey, it worked for Odd Taxi. If only Yatagarasu looked like Oh! Edo Rocket...

Urgh, I'm getting a headache just thinking about what that would look like.

Now if only we could get people similarly interested in talking about Salad Bowl of Eccentrics. That show isn't perfect but the complete absence of discussion about it this season that driven me to distraction.

Underrated anime. Happy that we have a second part.
