I was talking to some dudes a while back, and he mentioned that these CDs are not only very hard to come by, but very expensive. Triple digits on ebay sort of expensive...
I'm just wondering if anyone else knows or has heard something to this effect. Just strikes me as unusual...

I'm not sure about music CDs, but there's a number of rare LDs that make their way around eBay and other collectors circles.
Most amazon.co.jp used sellers only ship domestically.. but if you can find one willing to ship to America, you can get copies there for 1200-1500 yen apiece.. alternatively, if you know someone in Japan, you can work out a deal with them to buy the CD for you.

Well...it makes me wonder mostly because I have some Cha Cha CDs. :) Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I've slowly been tabulating my anime goods' worth...
LDs just don't go for a lot on ebay. Definitely a buyers' market. These Cha Cha CDs, though...I'm really quite surprised that ebay would have buyers looking for CDs on there AND spending triple digits on the rare ones... (What with all the bootleg sellers and buyers, I mean...)

Actually, in all of my years (not that I'm particularly old at all ;p), I've never seen an anime CD go for higher than $40. The only CDs that have gone into the triple digits were the multi-CD sets. If you ever find one of these triple digit auctions, please post it here because I'd really love to see it.

Will do. The guy I get my information from is quite the trustworthy fellow. Somewhat obsessive, but he knows himself...
I'll be on the lookout! Once I see an auction, you can be sure I'm going to sell what I can soon after!
