Whoa, I didn't expect ANN to go deep into that part of the history of Saban Entertainment. I guess thank you for doing this retrospective.

Oooh, a history on Saban? Interesting! While I'm not really a fan of their practices now, I grew up on a lot of their later dubs like Digimon and Power Rangers.

I wasn't born yet when they did stuff like Maple Town and Noozles. I bet I would have loved the hell out of those shows if I had been around back then. I did watch a bit of the Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics dub thanks to Discotek's blu-rays (Which I will keep a vicegrip on in light of the fact that they're now OOP).

Minor correction - the name's Jean Chalopin, not Chapolin.

They were at their best when they weren't hacking up Japanese anime and toku. I liked most of their 90s Marvel shows.

It's Hanna-Barbera; not Hannah-Barbera.

Saban definitely has a checkered past, but man... they curated so much of my childhood. I grew up on those '80s/'90s shows, and rode the original Power Rangers wave. I think Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics was my first anime, and I remember trying to catch reruns after school even until around about '95. I was so sad when it finally stopped airing.

The Littl' Bits, Heathcliff, Samurai Pizza Cats, Peter Pan, Spider-man the Animated Series, Zoobilee Zoo... even that live action Susie Q movie. There's a huge portion of their catalog that was an enormous and beloved part of my childhood.

This is a fascinating read. I was yet another late 80s/early 90s kid that grew up with Saban's eyecatch after so many shows I watched.

Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics was my first experience with anime and I've never forgotten it.

Glad to see this history lesson on ANN because I'm not sure I ever would have gotten around to looking it up.

Nice to read an article that goes into detail about the history of Saban, Fox Kids Latin America was one of the TV channels that I watched the most during my early childhood during the late '90s, at least it was the channel that had more action-oriented shows compared to others like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids and Magic Kids, and I guess I was one of the few kids that stayed during the credits of the shows I watched and I began noticing the Saban logo in most of the programs I watched. I think I still have some vivid memories of the premiere of Powers Rangers: In Space (yeah, PR always arrived one year to Latin America after it premiered in the States)
In terms of anime, Samurai Pizza Cats and Maple Town were the only ones that aired in Fox Kids Latin America during the '90s, at least I can confirm that by some old commercials, and they were dubbed into Spanish using Saban's version as a base, but they aired before I began watching TV, so the first anime that I watched on Fox Kids was Digimon Adventure, but the dub was done with the Japanese version as a base, in fact, Fox Kids Latin America managed to aired a lot of anime that were directily adapted from Japan, save for Shinzo, which was the Saban version of Mushrambo, and some others. Fox Kids LatAm even had its own anime block, Invasión Anime.
