I'm game! (Though not literally, since this is a movie)
While I do rather wish the characters looked more Toriyama-ish, they remind me of How to Train Your Dragon, which pleases me. I'm also pleased to see Japan embracing CGI as the trailer doesn't look janky in the least! Also, I'm guessing this is Dragon Quest V retelling, which makes sense since it's still the most popular entry in the franchise in Japan to this day. |

Takeru Satoh has done some voice acting before for that Kamen Rider Den-O/Shin-chan crossover special but regardless, this should be interesting.

The animation looks pretty good, I wish there was a longer trailer to see character movement.

I find it curious so many people are acting as though this is a wildly different art style to the games, when really the ONLY thing that's different are the eyes. And... have y'all not seen Toriyama's eyes? They're too simple and abstract to work at this level of fidelity.

It looks positively gorgeous. ♡
The expressions the characters have are really... expressive? lol. It's a good thing, most of the time I feel as though CGI ruins art design and character facial expressions. This time that doesn't seem to be the case thankfully. |

You're joking right the DragonQuest games for years have taken elements of western culture and society and integrated it into it's DNA how can it be too western? |

The post sounds like it’s “not anime enough” for them which I think is silly. Animation is animation. On the other hand I can understand the disappointment that the characters aren’t more Toriyama styled. I mean it’s certainly debatable. The Western styled approach could be a way to help appeal to Western audiences more. I sure hope they dub and release it in the West. |
