i dont know if it was mentioned, already known by everyone or complete bull i found on the net... but not only is alucard dracula spelled backwards but is also the name of dracula's son.

Not to mention there used to be a TV series called Dracula. The main character was named Alexander Lucard. *gasp* A. Lucard! And he was *gasp* a VAMPIRE!

i dont think it was dracula... but instead some other infamous 1600 Englishman. think there was an article about this in hellsing.madtech.net BUT the site is down temporarily Anime cry.
