K-On! topping the list doesn't surprise me much at all; same with SAO being pretty high up there. As much as I enjoyed aspects of these series and their overall design work is attractive, the characters' faces are too much alike. I would've liked them more if there'd been more diversity in eye shape, nose size, etc. Rolling Eyes

I don't think anything wins over Saint Seiya manga. There are only 4 faces: pretty guy (which is the same for kids too), woman, creepy looking guy with big teeth and colossal guy with a punk face. Furthermore, we could say that at times, the hair helps the impression of a character's face, Kurumada's hairs are literally two roulettes, he rolls and combines.

Even Captain Tsubasa doesn't fare that bad, since it usually changes up the eyebrows and the face structure.

Even so, the similarity of faces is not what would bug me, but the expression and presentation of personality of the character. All K-ON! characters immediately tell you what they're about by looking at their standard expression. The same goes for Shirobako. Inversely, I don't always feel that from Love Live! and definetely not feeling it in SAO.

I was kind of hoping one entry would just be "Every Hisashi Hirai show".

If this was a manga list Steel Ball Run would probably be pretty high up.

Mr. Osomatsu coming in at close 2nd is no surprise.

The first ED theme makes this painfully obvious.

I feel like Joker Game should be in this list. The same-facing is literally a plot device.

Of course they all look the same there human beings! But seriously the character designs for a lot of the Anime series out could try a little harder to differentiate between characters. Smile

I'm surprised Attack on Titan is up there (number 7). The characters are super diverse looking. None of the characters look anything like. Makes no sense.

Yeah, that one confuses me, unless they looked somewhat more similar in the manga than in the anime. But damn did the right series top the list.

Surprised not to see Go Nagai on the list considering most of his female characters almost have the same faces

In Osomatsu-san, it's kind of the point. Cue the ED "Six same faces!"

I know how much people like to rag on Hisashi Hirai for being the grandmaster of same-faced designs, but to pretend that he's the only one accused of it is a bit much.

Anyways, this is a pretty hilarious poll.

I agree AoT doesn't have same face issues. I think most Kyoani and PA Works stuff has this issue. Mostly PA Works tons of their character designs look way too samey.
