This makes me want to watch some GARO in his memory. Awesome monster designs.

Rest in peace. Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is one of my favorite action movies of all time and a great deal of that is thanks to the great designs of the characters and monsters.

As a Rider fan, this saddens me. Nirasawa's designs had a surreal, monstrous quality to them (owing to his admiration of H.R. Giger) which especially helped add to the disturbing atmosphere of memorable villains like Blade's Peacock Undead.
I even picked up his artbook for Den-O's Imagin because I'm a huge fan of that series; as silly as the show was, he didn't take the work any less seriously, and he did a masterful job of slipping subtle nods to the Imagins' inspirations into the designs. |

R.I.P. Mr. Nirasawa-san. Your creature designs are an epic sight.

Oh man, this really sucks. Garo and VHD Bloodlust were pretty much made by their excellent creature design and I'm a big fan of Dragon's Heaven so it's sad to see someone closely involved in it go.
