Oscar-nominated creator of Royal Tenenbaums says you "want to believe it's real"
Actresss Gwyneth Paltrow listed her favorite films in her latest newsletter, and she also asked five prominent writers and directors to list their favorite DVDs as well. One writer/director, Oscar-nominated auteur Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited) named Hideaki Anno and Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion science fiction anime series. According to Anderson:
This is a Japanese cartoon that is very difficult to describe and might not sound that great if I tried anyway. It is 24 episodes, and we watched them all in less than a week because you start to want to believe it's real. This could spawn something like Scientology.
Thank you to Sara Pocock for the news tip.
