Sanrio, Sega's Jewelpet Plush Toy/Website Get TV Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The Famitsu magazine reports from Tokyo's Toy Forum 2009 on Wednesday that Sanrio and Sega Toys' Jewelpet toy line will gets its own television anime. Each Jewelpet is a stuffed animal linked to the online Web-Gurumi site via a secret password. Sega Toys introduced the toys at its booth at last year's Toy Forum.
The 33 characters are named after jewels, such as the Japanese rabbit Kōraku ("Ruby"), the Cavalier King Charles spaniel Sapphire ("Sapphy"), and the Persian cat Garnet ("Net"). In the storyline, these pets belonged to magicians in "Jewelland" and can use magic themselves, thanks to their jewel eyes. They study every day to learn how to use magic.
