Wait, whoa, stop...they're allowed to search the president's home? With no evidence that they've done anything wrong? That's freaking crazy. I can understand searching the Atlus building itself, but someone's home over something like this?

^ Why would they search the Atlus building? Its not Atlus thats directly under suspicion, its their parent company Index because they fudged some numbers.

I would guess that if they are searching the headquarters and the chairman's home, they have evidence already and are just gathering more, and believe he is directly involved.

But now idea how Japan investigative procedures differ from the US

I hope this turns out to be nothing and doesn't become this big thing that can possibly affect Atlus as well.

I would expect that the Japanese Securities Investigators went to the local courts and got the needed warrants for the searches in both the corporate offices and private residence. Likely they showed up papers in hand along with the local police as escorts.

They wouldn't be doing this if they weren't fairly certain of what had happened and what they needed to look for.

Let's hope it works out without negatively impacting the Atlus people and business.

Agreed. I really enjoy the games Atlus makes, and it would be a shame to have them hampered by something that was probably unrelated to them.

Where did you get the part where they had no evidence?

I have a huge attachment to the Shin Megami Tensei series, and in fact, it's my essay on how "Persona 3" made me a better person that got me into the college I attend now, and it's knowledge of the franchise that served as an ice-breaker between me and my longtime girlfriend. From the bottom of my heart, I hope nothing happens that could affect the wonderful people at Atlus.

Considering Atlus has basically all but given up on consoles, hasn't made a non spin off Persona since 4 on the ps2, I could honestly care less. I dont like handhelds, and all they make now are 3ds titles.

Besides even if they did go under someone would at least buy Persona, if not Shin Megami, so honestly their continued existence really does not matter. The same could be said about any company, if the series is beloved enough, someone will buy the IP in bankruptcy.

And thank god for that. I wouldn't be a fan otherwise.

Also, Atlus makes a bunch of console titles.

Anyway, whatever this ends up being about, I hope it doesn't affect Shin Megami Tensei IV's release.

I'd like to suggest to you that you read the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act.
Investigators for the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission have the authority to carry out domiciliary searches, and courts give them search warrants. When an investigator requests of a court that the court should issue a search warrant, he submits evidence to the court.

Evidence is not necessary, just "probable cause," for a search warrant, to look for evidence.

Atlus US doesn't like Anime fans and they hate to use Japanese voice unlike Aksys and NIS . I don't like them, but i hope nothing happen to them.
