I was very happy to hear that Game Informer is being revived, I hope their revival is not short-lived like G4TV. I wish them good luck on their revival.

Also, the yesterday announcement of Patapon 1+2 and Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots getting a Switch port may surprised everybody given that both of them were Sony's 1st party titles. Well, if any of you have been keeping track of video game trending for the last 5 or 6 years. We've been seeing 1st party game titles appearing on another console, and that is nothing new. I mean Forza Horizon 5 (which is a MS's 1st party title on Xbox, and PC) is now coming to PS5 this year!!! There's now a strong possibility of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Gears of War Collection is going to get a PS5 release, and also on the upcoming Switch 2. And no, I'm not making this up, I wrote it on Patapon 1+2 remaster ANN article:

I wrote:
Uh, just to let you know that both Gears of War Collection and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are coming to PS5 this year and I'm not making this up. Forza Horizon 5 (a game that came out on Xbox in 2021) is going to come out on PS5 this year. And if you think that's crazy, how many of you played MLB: The Show? Because that Sony owned official MLB franchise has already gotten an Xbox and Switch ports. MLB: The Show 21 made it's debut on Xbox, and MLB 22 has made it debut on Switch. If you're having Sony titles appearing on Xbox and Switch, then how long until Xbox fans and Nintendo fans will want Uncharted, Killzone, & God of War to appear on their respective consoles too given that Sony will get Gears of War, and Halo on there too.

I wonder how long until we start seeing Super Mario, Metroid, and whatever Nintendo properties you can think of may start appearing on Playstation and Xbox which will blow even the haters minds away. I bet there are PS5 and Xbox owners that would love to play Super Smash Bros on their consoles or having a PS5/Xbox port of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and Super Mario 3D World, or even a 4K UHD enhanced version of Super Mario Bros Wonder for Xbox and PS5. I'm sure there are Switch (along with future upcoming Switch 2, and PS5) owners that would love to have a enhanced port of Rare Replay where Switch/Switch 2 version would have all Rare-developed Donkey Kong titles included would be a big gift for those that owned that consoles.

To be honest, I never thought these would be possible but after seeing MLB The Show officially getting a Xbox port, and the long rumor of Halo coming to PS4 a few years back and now it's confirmed the PS5 will get the Master Chief Collection and Gears of War Collection, I guess nothing is crazy anymore. The idea of Super Mario 3D All-Stars coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S would blow everybody's mind and that could be possible, I can't ruled out that possibility.

It makes me wonder if Uncharted, Killzone, and God of War franchise could see a Switch (& Xbox) ports in the near future. But the idea of Super Mario Bros. Wonder appearing on PS5 and Xbox consoles in the near future would blow my mind if that was ever to happen.

It’s awesome to see Game Informer back, and them going the extra mile to review games that came out during their down time is impressive.

The new Digimon game is legitimately in my top 5 most anticipated games.

The Nintendo Direct wasn’t amazing (probably saving their biggest stuff for the Switch 2 Direct) but there were a bunch of fun tidbits in there.

The whole Genshin recast thing is bad enough (God, it's absolutely abhorrent that people think the VAs are being greedy for wanting basic human rights), but what makes the whole thing worse? The guy they brought on to replace John Patenaude is not only an open Vic Mignogna defender/supporter/apologist, he works at the cesspool known as Anime Matsuri and even directed the dubs for those two anime shorts that Vic dubbed.

No, I'm not even joking.

The wind blows hard in December.... Our last fight, do you remember?

Was a little bit of a fizzle for a Nintendo presentation, but thankfully Raidou and Story of Season aren't locked to a slower console. I still have my Raidou-Frost mint in box from the PS2 pre-order back in the day. Hopefully Nintendo doesn't ruin their digital sales with that Virtual Game Card announcement, they didn't communicate it very well.

Am eagerly awaiting the big XCX review, I have to imagine pouring over a 200-hour game is no small task....

Personally, I wouldn't expect much from next week's Switch 2 Direct in regard to game announcements. Sure, there will probably be a couple to help hype the console's launch (& act as examples for certain features new to Switch 2), but I imagine it'll focus almost exclusively on the hardware itself more than the software.

Let's hope it works out for Game Informer. I'm skeptical that an NFT game company that hasn't put out its own first game is doing it more to have that screen of "look at the good thing we did over there."

It's sad to hear about the mihoyo recasting. It truly does take a unified effort, even from people who might not be part of the union, to get this to work. Companies count on finding someone who will do it in the moment, and now they have a crack to exploit. The character is recast, voice lines redone, and the door is closed on the original actor. Newer players will have no idea that it ever happened. Bungie looks a lot better in comparison by opting to only use what was already recorded. I think it's kind of generous to even refer to them as a "colleague." It's someone who has to have known what was going on, known that it would hurt not just the prior actor but the overall effort, and potentially fed into a company that clearly is ok with the idea of AI replacements. I'm sure all that re-recording will give them plenty to work with when they eventually decide to replace him with a bot.

This kind of obsessive investigative gatekeeping and purity testing isn't exactly helping the impression of the English VA community if you're going to treat it like an exclusive club. It shouldn't be a wonder why the majority of the Genshin community isn't really all that sympathetic to the cause and siding against them (along the numerous other things the EN VAs have done in the past) It's gotten to the point the CN community have been joining in on the dunking too.

Kudos to Mihoyo for simply recasting and moving on at this point. For the minority of the playerbase who do play with EN voices instead of CN or JP I'm sure they're happy too. Also kudos to Mihoyo for stepping in and telling some of the offending EN VAs like Paimon and Keqing's VA to stop harassing and attacking their fellow VAs and fans. Always good to shut that shit down immediately.

I honestly thought that the Nintendo Direct was fine, perhaps kind of underwhelming for some, but we have to consider that the Switch is in its eight year, it's going to be replaced soon and game consoles don't usually have that many important games in the end if their lives, tohugh some titles like Metroid Prime 4, Dragon Quest I+II HD-2D, Raidou, Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Life were very impressive, even if we were already already aware of the first two, though Directs also serve as a reminder.

I'm trying to keep my expectations in check for the Switch 2 Direct, I'm pretty sure Nintendo are going to focus on its hardware (though I don't think they're going to get technical in its details), its launch date and price, but they have to show game for it. Honestly, aside from the new Mario Kart that was briefly shown in the console's reveal trailer, there hasn't been any leaks or rumors about other Nintendo games, which is actually nice, but I don't know what games could Nintendo announce. I think a new mainline Mario game could be a possibility, it's been almost 8 years since Mario Odyssey came out, now it's the time for a new entry. We could also see something related to Zelda, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Splatoon, perhaps even an ARMS sequel, a new IP or even a revival from an old Nintendo property, perhaps a game that demonstrates the new Joy-Con mouse feature. However, I'm more interested in the third-party games that could be show, I remember that when the original Switch was announced there was a lot of talk when Skyrim was featured in its reveal, I can imagine Elden Ring being a sort of equivalent if does appear, though from what I've seen some people are expeting to see games such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, among others. I honestly can't wait 'til next Wednesday.

Don't think we'll see any major Nintendo titles on its rivals' consoles and PC in the foreseeable future. People always mention that Nintendo operates very differently from its competitors, which is sort of true, or that they don't technically compete against them, which I don't think it's the correct thing to say since at the end of the day they want to draw people to their ecosystem. But the thing is that Nintendo is still the king when it comes to selling their own exclusive software, there are over 20 games on Switch that have sold over ten million units, don't think Sony and Microsfot have managed to sell that kind of numbers of their own first-party titles. Not to mention that one of the reason why Microsoft and Sony are now selling some of their own titles on PC or other consoles it's because of raising game development prices, wanting to reach a wider audience, Microsoft is having trouble selling consoles outside of the U.S. and that PlayStation has trouble selling some of their more obscure titles, those are problems that Nintendo does not have and I think they really don't have the incentive to even sell some of their own old titles on PC.

Changing the topic, in regards to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, this is not the first time that Juan Felipe Sierra is involved in a controversial dub, the other one being My Hero Academia's Latin American Spanish dub Anime smile + sweatdrop, but to be fair, it's not his fault, he's doing the best he can.

Long story short: my players think Nrvnsqr Chaos from Lunar Legend Tsukihime is a shapeshifter. Like... don't kids like Nasu? Haven't they played Melty Blood... ?

The kids only know of Fabro Rowan, that weird dude showed up for like 5 minutes in FGO. The only Melty Blood they play is Type Lumina. I'm curious if your Nrvnqsr hyperlinking to your BlueSky is an admission of vampirism, lol.

Being able to ambush people in Legends Z-A looks funny. I'm curious how many other goofy people there are aside from Zach the Taxi Driver.

Dude, this isn't about gatekeeping. (Personal remark removed - Errinundra.) This is about people who have worked their butts off on this game being thrown by the wayside because the company treats them as being disposable and not caring that their likenesses is being used to train abhorrent technology that does nothing but plagiarize and spit in the face of human creativity. Also, MarzGurl made some interesting discoveries about Kinich's new VA that only further prove he's an absolutely terrible person who should be avoided at all costs.

Although I would like to agree with you, regarding your 1st sentence: How are you so sure?

Nobody back in 2013 and 2014 has ever thought we would see Halo coming to Playstation and Nintendo consoles and yet here we are in 2025, we're seeing MLB: The Show (a Sony owned baseball game franchise) appearing on Xbox and Switch in 2021 and 2022. Halo and Gears of War is coming to both PS5 and I assume the Switch 2. We just witnessed Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5, and each of Sony's and Microsoft's 1st party titles appearing on competitor's consoles.

How on earth are you reassure that Nintendo's brand will not appear on PS5 and Xbox consoles in the near future given that Switch 2 will get Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Gears of War Collection? Can you be wrong and that an announcement for Super Mario Bros Wonder, and theoretically a Metroid Prime 4K UHD collection could end up on PS5 and Xbox like a few months from now?

I do hope people try out SaGa 2. I know I'm an apologist for these games, but this one in particular actually has a more engaging narrative, and gorgeous backgrounds. I'll not get to it for a good while- RPG fans have been eating well- but I do have fond memories of the game from my youth. And some frustration: the battle of South Moundtop is awful.

I try to be understanding with guest characters in fighting games. Not generally my preference, but I get the purpose. 2B is in multiple games and I shrug. Lucy in Strive? Weird, but let's see what they do with it. So many Bruce Lee homages? Sure. But Ronaldo actively makes me less interested in City of the Wolves. I don't actually know him from Adam (don't care about soccer/football,); I think it's just the weird piercing of the fictional veil in a way that crosses the line for me.

Kudos to someone remembering Henry Hatsworth

Anyway, Direct was a bit light but that's not surprising since the Switch is in its eighth year. Dragon Quest is nice to see, especially with them adding the Princess of Cannock as a playable character. It makes sense since she's a descendant of the hero from I so might as well have her tag along.

It is funny how Sony is just giving its other franchises to Bandai Namco now which is a sign of how much that company has unfortunately become very top heavy with all these "AAA" titles taking up oxygen. People whine about F-Zero and Star Fox not getting new entries (with most people not getting the games were souped up tech demos so when big technical gimmicks stopped happening, the games dried up) Sony has a graveyard of IPs that are never acknowledged. Seriously Sony, just give Bamco stuff like Wild Arms and Intelligent Qube if you're not gonna use them.

I wondered what Metroid Prime 4's gimmick was gonna be, and it seems we've landed on "Turn Samus into Raz from Psychonauts." Being able to do stuff like curve the bullet and manipulate objects makes me wonder if we're gonna do more puzzle solving.

And yes, it's pretty obvious at this point that Musk's bullshit with wrecking Twitter has really made Nintendo rethink how it gets info out. I mean, they made Directs because they were sick of the trade show circuit with having to rent space, then do a bunch of nonsense rehearsal over a presentation whose environment they couldn't control. So they just recorded video ahead of time instead of dealing with all that. Which is why I'm also not surprised they haven't opened a Bluesky account yet because who wants to risk the nonsense again? I demand Nintendo bring back Miiverse, we didn't know how good we had it?

Almost no one here seems to approve or even be okay with the whole Virtual Cards thing, and I don't understand why.
I think it's kinda nifty.

As for the direct, while there are some neat stuff as always, the big highlight for me is Metroid Prime 4 and I'll even throw both SaGa Frontier and DQ.

Kinda surprised no one is talking about that upcoming Marvel beat em up game.
(Hoping they will add Hulk and She Hulk to the roster).

As for the guest character Ronaldo, I think he's a pretty interesting inclusion. One of the more out there, but still very interesting guest characters.

Didn't even know who he was until this trailer dropped. One of the most famous soccer players? I see.

I hope it will expose more people who aren't familiar with a franchise as niche as Fatal Fury to it, unless you live in either Japan or Latin America, of course.

Recently people have been pointing out that in the interm agreement, AI isn't the issue Mihoyo has with it. The issue is a clause that says only SAG union talent can be used for projects. A lot of non-union and non-SAG union talent get hired for these games, So why should SAG get a monopoly? Take that clause out and I bet the strike would be over immediately.

More info (with sources) here.
