Did any of you guys seen the new Capcom racer that will be coming here soon? It's called Auto Modellista and it is an anime-celled racing game. That is one of the greastest concepts I've ever heard in my life, PLUS you can modify the cars not only internally (engines, turbos, tranny, etc) but also externally (body kits, wings).
That is a great idea, but I wish there was an anime like "The Fast and The Furious". Now I know about Intial D and I have read the manga, but I saw previews for the anime and the CG cars look lame. I also heard about this one anime called Wangan Midnight (I think that is what it is called) IF I remember my Tokyo Extreme Racer correctly, Wangan was one of the sections of the Tokyo expressway were street races (a'la fast and the furious) took place. Has anyone heard anything more about Wangan Midnight? (If there is such anime, I would be interested in that, because as far as I'm concerned besides the Bebop movie, there's nothing new coming out in anime that I'm excited about)
OH, and one more thing (God, this has got to be my longest post!) Tokyopop recently put out a video on Import custom car shows (I forgot the name), but it looked kind of cool... Although I wish they did a documentry like the one MTV did on illegal import (yeah, yeah and V8 american cars too) street racing.

I got the scoop on each of these, my RB26 powered brethren.

Auto Modellista: Sweet game, www.totalracingsims.com has the complete car list.
Wangan Midnight: Just a manga, and Genki is coming out with an arcade cabinet based on the manga and the TXR-Zero racing engine. The whole of the Wangan scene is top end. It's the basic opposite of the Touge, or mountain, scene where agility and drift skills come into play.
Initial D: CG wise, It gets better as the series as the series progresses. You've got to remember that this series was done on a tight budget in 1994-96, I recall. There wasn't a lot of cheap CG equipment just lying around. But the soundtrack, characters, and very true to life depiction of a real street scene makes Initial D very worth while.

PS: Why in the hell would you compare anything import to "The Fast and the Furious"? That movie put the import scene in America five years back on ever being respectec by the traditional hot rodders. It portrayed import rodders as drug dealing, no-talent, no brain, thugs who don't know the first thing about cars and are just in general a threat to society. I drive a MGB GT! I'm no threat! Neither is my team mate and his 240SX, but thanks to the movie. We go totally unrespected. Don't support that piece of s**t. It's ruining the hobby for us civilized rodders.

Raygal,
Well, first off thanks for the 411 on Wangan, is the manga coming to the US? About Intial D, the manga was cool, so I'll take a look again at the series when it comes out (rumor has it that it will be coming to TV, woo-hoo free preview!).
Now, About the fast and the furious... I'm sorry I liked the movie, but I do get what you are saying. I read recently an article in Sport Compact Car magazine about Illegal street racing and how after the movie, law enforcemnt has been coming down on rodders pretty hard. Around my area, the worst side effect about the movie (other then the cops, although this has been happening for awhile. a couple of years back my friend got pulled over and harassed by the po-po when he had his Z28), sorry back to subject... the other bad thing was all these "Type R" poseurs strted crawling out of the wood work. Type R Civic 4 door? Type R Eclipse? Type R 95 CHEVY CAVALIER WITH THE CHEAP ASS ARK GRAY PLASTIC BUMPERS, MY GOD!
Sorry about that folks, ahem, anyway so a lot of those people have been coming out since the movie came out. I think maybe it is a fad right now and hopefully it will die down. I personally do not own a tweaked out import (I have to be honest) I drivve a 2000 Nissan Sentra, and have no plans on modifying it (No parts out there for it anyway). Hopefully this car will last me until A) I finish school and strt making the big bucks and B) SUPPOSEDLY the Skyline is coming to the US (Although they are dropping the "Skyline" name and dumping the AWD).

Well, yes and no on the Skyline. The "Skyline" is already in the states and is not being called the Skyline. Allow me to introduce the Skyline sedan, the Infiniti G35. Yes, there are Skyline sedans, and most Skylines are RWD. The fire-breathing GTR model is what you're after and there are plans to bring it over. But first, Nissan-Renault has to decide on what exactly they're going to produce as the R35 Skyline. The Skyline name will be on the first Skyline in the states, but there are doubts that a new AWD, twin turbo straight six Skyline will be produced at all. Basically because the RB26 is getting long in the tooth and may not conform to projected emissions standards. It's all a sticky business and a lot of people are concerned about it, but personally, I'd just pay the money to get an R32 brought over. I can shift with my left hand anyway.

Thanks again man! Well that is pretty bogus... I kinda figured they be changing some stuff on the US version becuase of emissions.
The R32 "Godzilla" huh? I personally liked the R34 the best and if the stars align and win that M*&^$%*&$** lottery, I can score a V-spec II, I imagine it won't be too hard to get used to driving on the right hand side. Hell post office employees do it with their special trucks, it can't be too tough.
