I didn't see a very recent topic about the Big O, so I'm making a new one. But if it has to be locked, it has to be locked.

Anywho, on to the point. I watched all of the first season, but I'm missing about 5-6 episodes in the middle of Season 2. I'm wondering if this is the main cause for my confusion about tonight's episode, or if it's just generally wonky.

spoiler[Okay, so Pardigm is this big mock-up set to work by...someone (Not the Union, obviously) and Angel is some form of wacky biological construct? Is this some twisted Truman Show gone terribly askew? Or has my not being able to watch some of it impared my perception of the plot badly? Oh, and also Paradigm, for whatever reason, has this massive memory-hungry Megadeuce sleeping at its core. Anyway, if any of this was hinted at before, anyone providing a little insight would be greatly appreciated. If not, let us speculate away. And............FIGHT!]

Just as fair warning, anyone reading this should assume that this topic will be rife with spoilers.

I'm waiting for the last episode, and will definitely be buying the DVD boxes and watching this thing repeatedly. I love anime (and movies/TV in general) that messes with your head. Very Happy

But let me say at this point: Big O has gone off the deep end...and what a fun deep end it is!

Quite like a luxurious swim in squall-tossed waters Wink

I'm wondering if the last episode will actually answer some of these questions, or if it will be left open ended for the possibility of a third season. That would be frustrating, but good news at the same time.

All I know is, I was nowhere near the mark with what I was guessing about the plot.

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised, as well. I had figured it'd be some lackluster effort to capitalize on the show's Stateside popularity. But they stuck to the story that was established, and ended up creating something that, thus far, has been very well crafted.

These final episodes of Big O have been a big payoff for me. Suffering through all of that lackluster art was worth the effort. I highly recommend everyone who likes it to rent Dark city with Kiefer Sutherland. Knowledge of the film will definately enhance your Big O experience.

I don't know why it would've been. The creators originally wanted to continue past episode 13 but the low popularity of the show in Japan left them hanging dry. It was only when Cartoon Network stepped in that they could finish their 26-episode "epic". 8-)

I'm aware the Japanese studio had the whole thing planned from the start, but anything could have happened to that, really. CN might have wanted them to extend it beyond 26 episodes because "THE FANS LIEK ROBITS" (I'm not being anti-CN, but their treatment of Evangelion & Nadesico shows that they're willing to sacrifice plot for "cool mech action"). They might have wanted them to dumb it down or change the plot to a more action-oriented/family-friendly/generally less psychological one. CN were providing a lot of the funding, so they were certainly in a position to say that, which is why I'm glad they didn't and just let the Japanese production team do what they had set out to do with the first thirteen episodes.

Cool

spoiler[ Someone told me to think of it as more like the game Myst than the Truman show. But after last weks episode all bets are off as for my predictions.

Ok some more predictions. Roger will die but take Alex down with him, Dastun will die, Angel really is an Angel, R.Dorothy will be resurected by Beck, the entire story will be reset with new clones of everyone who has a major part in the story and the history we know of from the show will be reset and repeat itself. ]

My thinking is similar to yours Anlushac, but I do think that Dorothy is going to play a pivotal role in the finale, and possibly throw the normal process of "resetting" off. I didn't go that way with Angel...but, you could very well be right.

This might just be residual speculation from the Matrix: Reloaded, though. I just want to know who set it all up and why. But those are probably the only questions that won't get answered.

Cool

spoiler[

If you look closely at Angels back where her original two scars are you will see that they have started to glow a pinkish red, as if a major biological change is getting ready to happen in her.

There has been much speculation that Angel is a gentically engineered lifeform much like the pets that turn into monsters in the season 1 ep "Lost Cat". Question is what will she turn into. I like Angel and am hoping for the best but I have a bad feeling about what will happen to her.]

they said they're pursuing a third season if the ratings are good, so i highly doubt that will happen.

what i wanna know is what Gordon Rosewater meant when he saidspoiler[Angel is a "memory"]

I can't wait to see the last ep, either. The whole thing with spoiler[Roger, then Datsun and Angel seing their lives as an act] is crazy. What I think is that spoiler[all of the main characters were those little kids that Roger sees in his flashbacks. They were the megadeuce pilots that destroyed the city 40 years ago. The elder Rosewater wanted to recreate the city with these innocent people, so he tried to take away their memory so they wouldn't know the things that went on. But, some people started getting their memory back, and now there's chaos.] The whole thing about spoiler[Angel being a memory], though, I'm stuck on. However it ends, I'm sure it'll be great.

I like the f-with-your-head type tv and movies, also. You ever see Mullhollund Drive? That's fricken nuts!
