I had all but given up after the long stretch of nothing following the initial announcement. Glad to see it lives.

I'm betting this is a Seinen. If not a Seinen, then it's a Shonen.
looks it up
Yep; Seinen.
The concept behind this series feels a little dated to me ("Whoa, girls play fighting games?? IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2025?!?" ), but better late than never, I guess.

To be fair, they even announced the anime adaptation over four years ago before the news gone full dark about it's existence until today.

To be fair, the title is specifically referring to girls from prim and proper rich families (Ojō-sama). It doesn't come across clearly in translation. Though, I also didn't realize that until just now when ANN posted the original title here. I was also put off by it when I saw the manga in print.

FINAL-FREAKING-LY!!
This series is in my Top 5 favorite manga currently being published
Interesting characters, hints of yuri, and its Face game is on point!
I can’t wait to see all the intense matches and reaction shots animated

Frankly I am just glad it is getting released after four years of no word on it.

I can't wait to see Hasegawa and Ichinose playing their characters when they're in fighting game mode and all the meme panels animated.

Yeah, rather than girls in general, it is very much specifically in regards to Proper Ladies.
Very glad to see some news, this has been a favorite read and I too am eager to see how the series' excellent face game translates to the screen.

Think more people need to be open to not being so cynical all the time. Because I'm not sure what you think the series would even be about if what you wrote there was actually true, or why you think it would get enough attention and acclaim to receive an adaptation.
Like I don't know what else the title could do to impart to an onlooker that the series is partially about examining and interrogating those assumptions, specifically in regards to young women at prestigious academies who are expected to act in very rigid ways.
