I just finished my first viewing of the movie and found it to be just as good as I had heard/read. I've been a fan of the TV series and I think that helped out with all the information that was thrown at me during the movie. My question is at the end of the movie was spoiler[ that being the offspring of the major and 2501? ]. It's the only part of the movie that I wasn't clear on after my first viewing tonight Thanks in advance.

I find that anyone who needs a better understanding of Ghost in the Shell in all of its incarnations should definitely read the manga to get the original story.
Like much of the movie, that part you mentioned is from the end of the manga. It's told a bit differently in the movie, but the end result is the same -- and explained better.
Innocence made a lot more sense when you have a proper subtitle...(I'm not bitter).
I first watched a poor fansub and it made the story more than a little confusing. That and Oshii films often require multiple viewings in order to make total sense. Still...love the man. Love the work. Can't wait for the next one.

Reynatis is a high-flying action RPG that stands on its own, but it has a rather shaky stance.― Reynatis is a high-flying action RPG that, to its credit, has a solid identity and visual aesthetic. By the end, it’s hard to feel like you don’t have a more well-rounded—and certainly much more human—understanding of Miyazaki as both a creative and a person.― Having previously directed Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki and 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki, Hayao Miyazaki and the Heron (henceforth Heron) is far from the first time director Kaku Arakawa has gotten up close and personal with the legendary...
