So I'm guessing he's like the only guy who can pilot the battle things besides the girls? How convenient lol.

Not to unfairly get down on a series I only heard of just now, but...seriously, this concept could not get more formulaic if they had poured it out of a test tube.

Exhaustive research on the part of the right lobe of my brain predicts that the main character will:

A) encounter his childhood friend first, of the girls he meets at the school
B) eventually pair up with that girl at the end, despite potential interest from other stereotypes, and
C) lack any particular traits that would make a guy interesting to anyone, much less a romantic interest.
D) Oh yeah; I'm sure he'll walk in on the girls changing into their flight suits accidentally.

Don't get me wrong, anime is great. But...how and why do stories like this get green-lit?

I'm pretty sure I saw this premise in Parallel Dual (though that involved alternate universes)

Reading the synopsis made me go "and now we prepare for 'too much moe' freakout by the internet"

EDIT: Uh....This is an IS
You know what, just forget everything I just said. I will sit through any harem if I get to see something like that.

Don't fall for their trick, Garfield - the final battle will be the first 10 minutes after the mid-episode commercial break in the last episode, with five minutes of cleanup/resolution. But it will still look janky, because they spent their budget on detailed ruffles on a maid costume somewhere, or making some little girl's eyes quiver like a bowl of moe jelly.

Does he lead a team of girls named Sakura, Sumire, Maria, Iris, Kouran, and Kanna?

NOT THE EYES! THEY ALWAYS SPEND MONEY ON THE EYES!

(I think I'll see what studio is behind it before I write it off. At worst, the CM will show off what the show's got)

Looks like this is the new type of mecha series, since traditional griddy mecha shows seem to have died off for the most part. Seems shows like Sky Girls, Strike Witches, and this are going to take over. That makes me sad.

What about Gundam Unicorn, Gothicmade, Kihei Senki Legacies and Star Driver? All of them (except Unicorn) upcoming anime-original mecha anime.

(Why am I all up in this thread? Rolling Eyes)

Wow, thats actually pretty awsome. I might have too check this show out Wink
Although, unless Strike Witches did really well over here I dont think this will make it to the US.

Wow, your right. This does sound just like Sakura Wars doesn't it...? Anime smile + sweatdrop

A possible answer would be:
1.Check what sells: K-On,Ladies vs Buttles,Evangelion
2.Evaluate which costs less => K-On+Ladies vs Buttlers
3.Choose a light novel/manga that meets the standards(story not necessary but should have lots of fanservice)

Other than 5-10 titles per year the others were (probably) made using this pattern => anime will either die with the help of K-On or will revive with great series in the following years

Insta-ignore, Razz

Seriously why even watch this with a main premise of "...with only girls except 1 boy." It has been done so many times already, with so many slight variations, and so little story. That a person can simply rewatch all the previous shows and miss out on nothing, instead of looking forward to this.

If variety is needed simply randomly splice episodes from multiple shows together yourself - I am sure little would be lost in coherence.

I have to commend the professionalism of whoever writes these press releases for ANN. If I were doing it, by the tenth time this same premise was trotted out you'd be finding snarky comments littered throughout. So kudos!

(Here's an awesome idea: have equal numbers of each gender! It allows for numerous love triangles, comedic and dramatic situations, before final hook-ups that leave everyone happy!)
