Is Lee Bailong a carbon copy of Bruce Lee?
There are striking similarities between Bailong and Bruce.
Like Bruce, Bailong is an international martial arts superstar who died at young age under mysterious circumstances. Bailong also combined boxing, Muay Thai, and karate into a martial art called Dao Dan Do.
Dao Dan Do is reminiscent of Jeet Kune Do in which Bruce Lee developed from blending of the useful elements of Kung Fu, Karate, jiu-jitsu, boxing and wrestling.
I didn't know Bruce Lee had fans in Japan, given his film Chinese Connection was pretty anti-Japanese.
Shaman King makes me wonder if there are Bruce Lee fans in Japan? I have yet to see a Bruce Lee reference or a Bruce Lee clone in an anime or manga aside from Shaman King.
I can vouch for there being fans in Japan. Well, at least I've seen a few of his movies in Japan (dubbed in Japanese) and I've seen him mentioned a lot in all sorts of informational/educational shows, but never with anything negative. If there's any anymosity toward him, it's probably in the older generations.

Another hint is that bailong was a "chinese ghost".
Yes bailong is a wannabe bruce like, like Fei Long (from Street Fighter game made in japan) and Martial Law (from tekkengame made in japan) are wannabe Bruce lee. Yup, both of those guys are chinese too, so when the japanese think of chines kung fu, there's no doubt they're thinking of Bruce Lee.
In Street Fighter V (anime), I remember there was a interenation martial artist that has many characteristic of Bruce Lee. I'm sure anybody who seen this anime know what I'm talkinga bout. 'm not sure if it was Fei Long or not, can't remember the anime that good.
Bruce Lee is the world most reknown martial artist.. The chinese connection wasn't made to be the "anti-japanese" so all the japanese people would hate it. You have to remember teh story takes place during a time period in which the chinese was invaded by japan and they occuppied the area. Even though it showed Japanese imperialism and prejudice towards the Chinese, I think it was more about having pride for your own country.
I'm not sure if the japanese have a hatred towards the chinese, I mean they're not the one that got invaded.

The struggle to answer what it means to draw defines Look Back, and despite its short runtime, it manages to encapsulate everything that’s both beautiful and ugly about that struggle.― “So why is it that you draw?” That's the question that's pondered at the end of the film and ultimately lies at the heart of Tatsuki Fujimoto's original one-shot manga. It's a question that artists across just about a...

While I enjoyed the action aspects of Birth of Kitaro, I can't say it works that well as an entry point for new fans.― Modern folklore-focused anime and manga owe a huge debt to the work of 1960s manga GeGeGe no Kitaro's artist and writer Shigeru Mizuki. A second world war veteran, the traumatic amputation of his left arm, due to an air raid explosion, never held back his pre-existing artistic ambit...
