I find that i have to break up my anime into daytime and nighttime anime. For instance, i'd watch an anime like please teacher or please twins during the day only and an anime like hellsing at night only. Of course, there are the usual blurs of grey where ill watch a day time anime at night because i like it so much. But im hell bent on watching nighttime anime at night only. Then, depending on my mood, ill watch specific anime. e.g. if im feeling really lazy on a hot, laid-back spring or summer day, ill only watch an anime like mushi-shi.
Im just curious as to how my follow anime fans choose what time they will watch their anime or wherther it depends on a certain mood onset
I realise this topic is probably overly discussed, but im not satisfied with how the topics were categorised with their guidelines, so please share your thoughts with me once again. Much appreciated.

Anywhere between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM...'specially if it's scary.
Yeah, in the daytime I have school, movies to go see, people's houses to barge in on, errands to run in town, not to mention visiting the family to do laundry and give my sister and cats some attention, so while I COULD make time for anime during normal hours, I don't really want to unless I'm watching it with someone else. I find that if I get cloystered in my nerd hobbies, reading and gaming included, I tend to marathon play/watch/read things and never come out and enjoy the world, so I force myself only to indulge in the wee hours of the night/morning. That and I've always loved TV late at night.
I also have long work hours, which is why I'm on the forums ALL THE TIME. There's nothing else to do here. Work doesn't count. It takes me ten minutes out of the six hours I'm here.

I'd say any time between 12 and uh .. 12. I think i've watched anime at every hour... so it's kinda just a whenever i want to watch it thing. For sleeping, unlike most other people, i think of it as more of a whenever i can get it in the schedule thing... so i mean, i don't have to sleep during the night. So often times i'll go to bed at 4pm wake up at 11pm and then will watch anime or skate (cause i skate) or just something like that. So for me, it really doesn't matter what time it is, but it's more like when i'm in the mood for it. Whenever I want, that's the true way to live a life. Hah, listen to my idealism, i wish it was that easy... but at the same time, i don't. But indeed, like Jesu, i have long hours too... long boring hours. Desk jobs can be like that too. But even then, i have huge periods of nothing to do, and will maybe look up an an anime movie or something, or order somethin'.

I'm not to big on times. This is because it's sometimes hard for me to find time to watch anime (I do allot of school activities and stuff, also my house has one computer for 4 people, it gets hard some times). So when I get a chance I take it. But I have found myself with more down time recently. When I do have the benefit of time, I try to watch things like Higurashi and Paranoia Agent (you know horror stuff) at night. And I'll usually watch comedies during the day.

Depends on my class schedule mostly, but on weekdays, it's currently anytime after 4pm until I go to sleep. Weekends are so-so, if someone wants to hang out I'll drop anime to go hang out, but I tend to use weekend for games, since I can hold 8-11 hour sessions two days in a row (sometimes three if I start friday night). And only after I've done any work that needs to be done of course. Except for the weekends, I'll generally stop by midnight, then stay up for an hour online pretending that I'm going to go to sleep in 5 minutes. On the weekends, I might be up til 4am though (friday and saturday night only, sunday only if there's a 3 day weekend). Weekends tend to be my gaming time, so I play JRPGs (I'm into Persona 4 right now) and other stuff on the weekends, and I pretty much count JRPGs to be anime where you have to fiddle around with the controller every 5 minutes, ahh yes, games! PS2, Gamecube, DS, GBA, PSP, some other stuff, I waste a lot of time on that too!
If I watch anime anytime before 10 in the morning, it has to be something like Robotech, Digimon, Pokemon, or something else that might be considered a kid's show for some reason (not that I consider Robotech a kid's show, but it is really old school). I'll still read manga (and prefer to do so) during daylight hours. I don't like lights and prefer to not turn them on unless I must, so manga works well with natural daylight, hence why I prefer to read them during the day.

Doesn't commuting take time out of your schedule?
As for myself, the period from 10:00 PM to midnight is the norm. I don't want to be up too late else I risk missing the 08:44, which is my favourite train.

I generally watch most anime at night, due to my [adult swim] roots, and since that's usually when I have the most time/motivation to do so. There are certain shows like Paranoia Agent that I could never picture watching at any point when the sun was still up. Hell, I watched all of Ergo Proxy with all of the lights in the room off, since it added so much to the effect.

Not much. I work on campus, and I go to university in my hometown. (It's not REAL close, though, as I live "outside" of my hometown, on a farm about thirty minutes from the city where I attend.) Actually, during school, it's a VERY easy commute. The TV station directly neighbors my dorm.
Ooh! It just occured to me that I can stay up even later this semester! My earliest class is at 11:00 AM. Last semester, I stayed up late with 9:00 classes and did fine. This adds a whole new level of potential sloth! Hooray!

I can't say I have a preferred time, though more often than not I end up watching at night. Mainly because that's just about the only time I can be pretty much sure that I won't be interrupted. I'd go into more detail, but that would lead into a rant about something else so I'll leave it at that.

Heh, that's the exact time frame during which I've been watching Escaflowne over the past week or two. I've been hitting up one episode a night for the most part, and I don't think I started a single one of them before 3 AM.

I'll just head this one off for you: Anything involving Dilandau in the last three episodes. You are not dreaming, I repeat, I promise you're not dreaming, no matter what happens. I kinda figured I was on drugs, personally.

Literally all day, at any time. I would say at night more preferably because there's less outside light, but it usually doesn't make a huge difference. Though there are some shows I watch at certain times, like Urusei Yatsura is usually at night before I go to bed, and stuff like Gravion is when I get back from class.

My preferred time is whenever I have time. I don't have any specific time I try to watch anime. I'm a night owl personally and I work afternoons/evenings so I generally watch mine later in the evening after work. So generally between 10pm-3am. I have to do this generally as if I need groceries or anything else I have to get them during the day before work so I have much less time to watch anime during the day. Except on my days off of course.

thanks for all the replies so far. I find that nighttime anime is the hardest for me to get through simply because i do too much at night. im very much a night owl. and being a uni student with a laptop, daytime anime is so easy to watch instead of doin work lol. *procrastination is an art form * the other thing is - ima collector, so i only buy anime or borrow from friends, which means my entire collection is dvd based - so i dont need to worry about watchin anime on tv times or streamin like a lot of people i know. thats just to restrictive.
in any case, i wouldnt be on these forums as often if it wasnt for my holidays and being stuck at work for 8 hours lol. but you guys are a good group, so ill try to involve myself more with these forums unlike all my other failed attempts lol. especially the quote guessing game. I've been reading those all day long. its good fun and i wouldve got 6 straight away if i had been competing and a few were iffy but i was close lol
