I recall that Newtype USA did an interview with him in one of their issues from last year. After I read this tragic report, I went back to the issue that contains the interview (the April 2004 issue of NTUSA – Vol.3, Issue 4). For those of you who haven’t read the interview, here it is:

NTUSA: How did you break into the anime business?
Takashi Wada: I saw a job posting from this company in an anime magazine. At that time I was considering going into the anime industry. So I sent off a resume, hoping they’d let me take the company entrance exam. And the very first company the let me take the exam…it just happened.

NTUSA: First job?
TW: The first animation I did, what was it…maybe Hi Atari Ryoko.

NTUSA: Favorite/breakthrough titles:
TW: Uda Uda Yatteru Hima wa Ne! was the first one I felt satisfied with. It’s a very “special” [anime] about street punks. Mahotsukai was pretty interesting to watch.

NTUSA: If you can go back and remake any title, which and why?
TW: It’d be the lesser-known works. Maju Sensen – stuff like that. Come to think of it, I was doing cels checks and stuff, but if I had the chance I’d like to try being the art production director on one of those. I like Ken Ishikawa’s works.

NTUSA: What is the best (and worst) thing about your job?
TW: As a general art production director, I’m responsible for an entire series – and that’s good – but on the other hand, it’s hard to keep an eye on everything.

Source: Newtype USA Vol. 3, Issue 4; p.18.

Takashi Wada will be greatly missed in the anime business. It’s unfair to have a man of extraordinary talent have his life cut tragically short (and just 15 days shy of his 40th birthday). Anime cry

EDIT: I also thought it was inappropriate to add a lot of O's in that prior "NO" post. If you want to pay your respects, do it with some common sense.

You know, immature behaviour like this is actually very disrespectful towards the deceased.

There's also a little more information from him embedded into the main text of the article, such as how Sakaki's emotions were the hardest to draw, Tomo's were the easiest, and how Osaka was the most interesting Smile
