One of my friends remarked to me today how Angelina Jolie's character in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow looks almost like a dead-on representation of a picture in Intron Depot 3 (Pages 8-10). With exception to the placement of the eye-patch, it's looks dead-on accurate.
My freind wonders if Sky Captain also "borrowed" other Shirow Ideas. I say they might've, but it more leads to the Pulp stuff of the 30's than taking a Japanese Artist known for his Sci-Fi Babes and Mecha. |

I've seen the various trailers for Sky Captain, and I really didn't notice any anime influences. I'd say it was a coincidence, as Sky Captain's clearly based on old 50s sci-fi pulp.
