So, is there a UFO ending in Homecoming?
I think the series is dead or at least not at all the same anymore. Team Silent stopped caring and now these new guys are trying way to hard to do something they don't completely understand.

Quote: | Hey, if CAPCOM could envision Indians as fire-breathing, rubber-armed monks, |
That's not Capcom. That's Jimmy Wang Yu from Master of the Flying Guillotine.
Quote: | It also reminds me of the characters I wanted to see in future Street Fighter games. A friend and I once devised an Australian martial artist whom we thought an excellent addition to the lineup. Her name would be Sheila, and she'd have moves like the Kangaroo Kick, the Koala Bear Hug, a boomerang-tossing attack, and maybe a throw where she'd pick her opponent's pocket. And her background would have aborigines and Mad Max bikers wrestling crocodiles in front of Ayer's Rock and the Sydney Opera House. |
You could always still send it to them. They did take in that fan-made Native American robot in MM6, after all...
Quote: | A trailer for the Street Fighter IV anime prequel showed up last week, featuring a rather willowy Chun-Li explaining just how her father's demise motivated her to enter a worldwide martial-arts tournament. |
Forget Ni no Kuni. That SF IV trailer is the one which looks Ghibli-esque(at least in the quiet scenes)...I hope that Kristin Kreuk flick don't end up that hamm, though...
Quote: | though the smart money says that Miyazaki himself will have nothing to do with a brain-rotting video game. |
At the Spirited Away screening at the El Capitan, he complained about Japanese youth doing nothing but playing games.
Quote: | A recent bit of PR about Twentieth Century Fox's new senior vice president of “new media” refers to “Dragon Ball” (one word now, it seems) among the properties the company views as prime console-game material, along with Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian. |
Insert comments about Street Fighter: The Movie The Game here!
Quote: | Indeed, many anime fans likely remember Steve Purcell's original Sam and Max comics, |
Those need to be back in print, along with The Tick!
Edit: Looks like they re-printed Sam and Max after all!
Quote: | and perhaps even the short-lived cartoon. |
Barely, but at least it's on dvd. Fox played it at crappy times when they stopped caring about content.
Quote: | Telltale's new Sam and Max titles have already made the rounds through GameTap, but the Wii version presents an excellent opportunity to grab the first six-episode “season” in a convenient package. |
Not to mention with all the godawful slow-down...
Quote: | Get Excited If: You ever complain about how LucasArts and other companies stopped making graphic adventure games. |
I'm still waiting for that Full Throttle sequel myself...
Quote: | EXTRA LIVES: URUSEI YATSURA: LUM'S WEDDING BELL |
I emulated that once! The controls were a mess, so I didn't continue.
Quote: | There's more to Urusei Yatsura games than Lum's Wedding Bell, as the series also inspired a PC Engine title and a stunningly animated graphic adventure for the Mega CD (Japan's Sega CD). |
You forgot that recent dating sim on the DS mentioned in the news.
Anyway, I figured you'd come up with some sort of celebratory moment in honor of Jack Thompson being disbarred.

...Hardly, the series actually started getting SCARY in The Room. Seriously, THAT is BY FAR the scariest game in the series.
Hopefully Cross Edge has a chance at being licensed for an american release... But if it's ATLUS, they NEED to get Mana Khemia 2 first.

There I was with the new EGM in hand, learning of the epic Sheng Long secret,in a 7-11,with machine behind directly behind me,and $20 in pocket.Alas,I was one of the ones who fell for the April's fool trick.Damn.I remember trying so hard, not to get hit.Couldn't do it. It's probably where some of my crankiness began. In fact,I'm sure it's where it came from.
I didn't fall for it again until the "Resident Evil 2 : Akuma trick". It was so real,I could feel it.What I mean is,that I knew I could get it.I had gotten Hunk and Tofu myself, this should be no problem, right? I'm harrdcor, what was 6 more times through.Fooled again.By the time the SFIII Gouken was mentioned,I just rolled my eyes.
I had read earlier, that the developers were hinting at putting Gouken in SF4.I'm glad they did.Actually,IIRC,the first I had heard of Gouken was from that 8 part,SF manga.Back in the day.MUGEN had some of the characters like Gouken, but were poorly built.Nice review Todd.I like how you try to cover as many bases as you can,old and new.Good Job.Ghibli delved in a few games.
The very forgotten 1978 anime series, and PCE-CD game Future Boy Conan Front, Back .

It's good to know that a new generation of kids will be trying to make that little kage man do his ninja-slaughtering prayer thing.
I think I once completed that game. He gets the girl back.

I'm a huge fan of Silent Hill.It was weird after part 3,when Akira Yamaoka (Music and now directing) started taking charge.I'll agree. But I think Silent hill is starting to get a little more, interesting.I still love both styles, though.I'm just waiting for the fog to come rolling in.Heh.heh.
Homecoming has a lot going on,and it looks like they took a few elements from the movie.(good and bad)When the air raid sirens go off,the world will change in plain sight. Now,this happened in the past games too,but 5 pulls it off quite well. The new monsters look really good.I'm loving it.No,what I'm really loving is the delicious nurse animations, borrowed straight from the movie.I can't wait to cave their heads in.
[Off Topic] The only time I had felt fear was in (little history for ya) Jason's mom's face in Friday the 13th.Certain alien profiles in Buck Rogers.Decerto mansion, smiling back at me,in Alone in the dark.Resident evil(when it was new). The hidden yellow eyes in Jetmoto 2.Scissorman waiting behind my door. The boss at the end of the sewer level in Shadows of the Empire.Andross's face in Starfox 64.The screaming tree face,in the third window of the woodpuppet stage,in Illbleed. The hollowed out kids's face in Illbleed.Figures suddenly appearing in front of me in Alone in the dark 4.The ghost with the long arms in Fatal Frame. The ghost with the dripping stare, hanging from the ceiling in Fatal Frame.Calamity in Fatal Frame.Guy buried in wall,in Silent hill 3.Making you avoid the rocking chair and walk straight into the trap in Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill :the Room where you can scream and yell, but no one can hear you,But they sure as hell like to point.Of course for comforting reasons, between the dying cat in your fridge, the zombie stare through the peep hole, the random letters thrown on the floor, the faces in your wall, the phone call that makes you walk back to your room, experiencing the random child's shadow in your closet.answering the call to hear radio silence and bits of monster chatter. The scream, clatter and the head that just floated by your window. But the Rabbit in Eileen's room, knows you're there. If you keep checking back, he will gladly let you know,by sitting up and pointing at you. What about the last guy,who happens to be crusified and staring at you from the other side of your bedroom wall (as you've slept). I'll stop with Eileen's giant twitching face,in the hospital with the random hallways. She gets me every time.Anyway.
Hey,listen,**** the movie, right.Silent hill isn't about explanations,non-fog,exploiting the pyramidhead or simple witchcraft.....

It was all about the secret mother****ing UFO endings! Each more terrifying to achieve, than the last. They have best be in there, bleuster.I need another faux ass ending,to get me riled up."Hell,no.Harry's not dead, now let's dance"
The games aren't the same anymore because the main "knightmare provider",went on to make the last, and somewhat decent,Bond game.Leaving Silent Hill music producer,Akira Yamaoka to fend for the team.I'd say he is doing a pretty good job, pulling it through this far.(Love his music) We can't use tank control forever, and yeah, the battle system in 5 looks a bit messy, but it should work out.

Chaos Wars was a good rpg and i enjoyed it thats why i cant wait for X Edge because its almost like the same thing except X Edge has more characters that are more easily recognizable that people still love even in america. cant really say if it will be licensed to america and i can only hope so but if Chaos Wars can be licensed to america then i think X Edge has a better chance of being licensed then Chaos Wars even though i still say i did in fact enjoy Chaos Wars

Personally, as much as I like horror movies, and how old I am, I'm too afraid to watch Sleepaway camp. I've heard so many things about the ending, and seen the skit on Robot Chicken, I just can't get the nerve to see it. Supposed to be real bad movie anyway.
Also, any game with underwater missions. Just like that Shadows of the Empire game, the thought of tentacles wrapping around you. *shudder* Plus, the low depth perception makes it hard to see what's coming.

You know, the first Spectrobes game was pretty fun the only real main problem I found with it was the digging was soooo bad that really took away the fun of the game, it seems you had to stop every couple of seconds to dig which took away the fun of it. Heck, it had a better storyline then Pokemon (really, does Pokemon have a real story?) and the battle system was different. I hope they fixed the problem in this new game... Spectrobes could turn out to be very good if they fixed the problems.

I always wondered why Momoko 100% had that show's theme song. I liked that game, even if it's random enemy placement was blatantly unfair at times.

Tales of Vesperia ad, ftw. Finished my first run of that. On to Unknown mode!
Wow a Urusei Yatsura game, I kind of expected that.
