I normally don't read TWIA but I'm very happy to have stumbled across this!
I remember Yamibo fanart being common years ago. I couldn't tell you a single thing about the title, but Lilith and her hat were staples of the CG art and doujin scene. The character design (and the hat) was so memorable that you couldn't help but recognize it even if you had no clue what Yamibo was. I remember being intrigued by the art and trying to figure out just what exactly this was....was it a game? An anime? Manga? I never did figure much out back then other than there was no anime--of course, this was before 2003. I had basically given up and forgotten about it. Now I'm happy to learn that in the meantime an anime has been made!

If only Touka Gettan was legally available so could be covered, as that was even stranger, given its reverse order episodes.

I understand for at least part of the VN, your viewpoint is that of the hat.

I looked on RetroCrush and couldn't find it. Do you have to be a premium member to find/watch it? Thanks! (I went to the link... https://www.retrocrush.tv/ )

It's funny for me to read this because I also felt that my admiration for Yamibo was out there in a bin of anime that I fondly remembered but few others did. I was so excited to buy the Blu-Ray a few years back, was furious when my preorder was cancelled due to issues with the printing, and so excited to finally be able to buy it. Even I used the motif for a long time... https://www.deviantart.com/drosencraft/art/Witch-Eve-of-the-Library-712652583.

Unlike a lot of anime you had no question at the end that it was "The End" instead of being left wondering if there was another season out there or whatever. But at the same time it didn't feel "complete". It felt like there was a lot of stuff left out, lots of bits and pieces that were glossed over or missed. I think all told the series sits well with me because much like my overall anime experience over the years, the "message" here is that there are a lot of stories out there you can immerse yourself in if you're willing to keep going out there and looking, sometimes even leaving loved ones behind.

This still ranks up there on my lists of series where I would love a remake just to get the series back in the public zeitgeist, but I don't know that a remake would actually improve anything.

I think TubiTV might have it presently if you'd like to start right away, but ANN reported that RetroCrush will have it on November 13:

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-10-30/retrocrush-adds-kimagure-orange-road-cyborg-009-kite-liberator-anime/.165777

I also remember this being incredibly popular for a period of time on the fanmade wallpaper and Livejournal banner circuit once upon a time. I kept hoping for a release back then, but just had to be curious what the story was beyond episode summaries on fansites. I'll definitely be watching this once it hits RetroCrush. Gotta satiate that mystery from years ago, too.

I've always liked this series ever since I found out about it many years ago. I have a hkdvd set of it, when MB first announced they were gonna release it on bluray I said "when, where and how?" Took seemingly forever but boy was it worth it.

Can you, or anyone else, confirm if the Media Blasters Blu-Ray is censored or not?
An article here on ANN from a few years ago announced the MB release "would be uncensored" but I couldn't find anything suggesting if it actually was or not, and I've found some reviews for the BD claiming that it was censored. I'm wondering if those reviews claiming the censorship persists might have been for a bootleg or if they are for the legitimate MB release since they also suggested the disc was a BDR. I know Media Blasters had issues with shipping non-pressed discs in the past but I thought it was limited to their DVDs.

Yeah, big apologies for that. I don't think we've used caps from TubiTV before.

Well, I can compare my hkdvd set to the bluray set from MB, it seems that the hk set used the tv edit version. About the only differences I noted is that the bluray set has less strategically placed clouds of steam, smoke etc. and some extended sequences but there are no nipples, bare boobies or any such shit in either version. And while the dvd set MB released was on dvd dl+r discs the bluray release was on pressed discs.
