Hmmm is there any way to submit the verses,lyrics,etc for an anime series songs,opening/ending themes, etc? My last question doesn't deal with lyrics but with age ratings:Inuyasha the anime series(the IY movies I would say are PG-13/TV-14 too) usually gets TV-PG or TV-14 on CN, so wouldn't that put that age rating to Teenagers instead of older children?

For American TV, yes. But it seems that the Japanese don't shelter their children as much from the concepts of religion, death, magic, demons, etc. I'm not a Japanese culture expert though, so maybe someone else will come through to back up my statement.

If you want anime lyrics, try www.animelyrics.com, it's awesome.
As for the age rating, this is the opinion of the ANN reviewers (Zac, in this case, who did most of the Inuyasha reviews). |

So, to add an age rating to a series, I have to get ya'll to approve it? I added Age Rating to Miracle Girls manga as other information. It added in blue. Does that mean you will be considering it later on?
Also, how do we add other suggested links? Not website links, but other links in the encyclopedia. For example, Related Anime or Related Manga? |

For now only the staff can do that. here's a list of things that only staff can do: Age Rating Seasons Chronology Additionally "Other Information," "Plot Summary" and "Picture" are not made visible until a staff member aproves them. We're up to date aproving new title submissions, but the above items can take quite a while before making their way int the encyc. I'm aproving them about as fast as they are entered, but no faster, right now I'm working on items that were submitted 6 months ago. I'd like to get this to under 3 months and eventually 1 month or better. -t |

Thanks for all your help guys, but I still got a question I'm afraid. Hey Tempest(or anyone else for that matter) how exactly should I submit the lyrics say for the Inuyasha songs?Or making another section under encyclopedia be a better idea? I wait till you guys respond to this and then I work on the lyrics...

We are not accepting lyrics at the present time.
It would take a lot of time and effort to make sure that the lyrics we posted are NOT the lyrics posted at AnimeLyrics.com... Posting lyrics that belong to someone else is as serious an offence as posting anime plot summaries that were not created by the poster. It is a clear violation of intellectual property rights, and can (and has) resulted in several user's being banned. If we were to add lyric support, I _KNOW_ that people would begin copying and pasting the entire AnimeLyrics DB to ANN, and then we would have to deal with the fallout. I have no interest in dealing with such a situation, and I'm sure none of the other staffers would be, either. Additionally, if we were going to accept lyrics, we would first need to create a means of verifying that people can read and translate Japanese. After all, how can you submit an ORIGINAL translation if you can't read Japanese? |

Good point Cookie but if you ever change your mind on trivia and/or lyrics let me know ok? Also if I ever use someone else work I will cite in it either one of these three formats:our format the ANN one,or if the ANN one ever fails(which i highly doubt it wont) I use the academic ones like APA or MLA(but I use those only as a last resort),and last but definetely not least paraphasing is vital too. That way my friend you eliminate plagirism entirely. As for the translation I will sometimes translate cultrually or even literally. Oh well this site is still excellent even though its lacking lyrics and trivia and I will NOT be working on those two things unless I get permission. Once again thanks for all your comments and help.

Hum... we don't accept lyrics, but we *do* accept trivia.
BTW, Tempest, I'm afraid you are wrong on a few things: while "other info" needs to be processed by staff, plot summaries and pictures are automatically added. We just have to check them and make sure they're ok. |

LOL, whoops! I assumed that since we checked them, they weren't visible...
That's very iffy here's how it works: 1) Original Song Lyrics belong to whoever retains the copyright on the song. 2) Translation of song lyrics belong to the translator (or whoever comissioned the translation) but can not be used without the permission of #1 because they are akin to a derivative work. So if people copied original lyrics from animelyrics.com they wouldn't actually be violating IP rights. But I'd still be unhappy with the encyclopedia copying such complete information from one source, although it wouldn't be a clear case of IP violation, it wouldn't be right IMHO. SO we end up at the same spot, one way or another, copying so much from AnimeLyrics would be wrong. I'll add AnimeLyrics to my list of good sites for ANN to aquire... right under AnimeonDVD.com and Google.com -t |
