One would think doujinshi would have a sort of fair use thing, given how in itself a dj is in a grey zone of the copyright law. Seriously Japan, for how long have you been protecting your super strict copyright laws and how has that changed the illegal distribution of your media online?

Not all DJ are derivative works, you know.

Is uploading manga on the Internet the only way to attract attention to overseas otakus outside of Japan?

It is more of a byproduct than the actual intension, obviously making a quick buck off of digital adds is the real goal.

The article fails to specify where the website was located. If if was hosted on a server in Japan, that's just dumb.

Most of them are (at least the popular ones) and lets be honest, police in Japan does this kind of arrest in behalf of big companies petitions, not because john doe did a thousand print run of his 100% non derivative manga for comiket and later on found a copy in said site.

Unless you have some other source to which you can link, there is absolutely nothing in the article about child pornography. Perhaps you need to read a definition of doujinshi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dōjinshi

Depends on if it's derivative or not. They're all self-published books in either case, but doujinshi that are parodies don't change the names or make themselves into "non-copyright-infringing" entities. Non-originals are full on copyright-infringing.

Doujinshi is the manga version of pornographic movie parodies.
It's just fan service. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed, there is nothing here to indicate this is about child pornography or about the depiction of child pornography, so let's keep this discussion on topic unless you can actually cite a source or some sort of evidence that it is part of this.
