Isn't it based on a video game or something?

I've never heard of a videogame by that name, but you never know. Many video games never make it to America.

Looks like they know how to have fun with fads! And to make fun of the fads and of themselves (the creators of said fads).

I checked the Encyclopedia and didn't see anything for it, but just from the character design, it might be something to put on my "want to see" list sometime in the future.

Master of Epic: The Renaissance Age is a MMORPG from Hudson Soft and GONZO Rosso Online ( a GDH company). The game's website is here. GDH's deal with Hudson Soft can be read here.

Master of Epic: The Animation Age is an adaptation of the game according to ANS.
