This is the first amv I have ever made, I used adobe premiere pro cs6. The anime is 5 Centimeters Per Second and the song is If It Means A Lot To You by A Day To Remember. Comments, tips, and criticism are welcome. THANKS!

nice choice of song and sticking to just the first part of 5cm was a good decision, it was my favourite part of the movie(?).
Kinda felt though the last 50 or so seconds of the song were a little out of place, didn't fit the scenes as well as the rest of the song, but thats more of an issue with AMVs in general, its hard to find songs that will fit perfectly to the series/movie/OVA/couple's scenes, so its not something to be too concerned about on a 1st attempt i guess, its something you'll probably get the hand of, finding the perfect song-scenes match-ups |

Thanks! And yeah there was some scenes I wanted to put in at the end regardless so I just kind of ignored the matching a little bit lol. I could have done a better job though if I spent more time I think though. |

I mentioned this elsewhere on the forums, but since a search didn't turn up anything, I thought it might be okay to mention it here too. After listening to Zac's recent interview with Brad DeMoss for Anncast on his experiences with AMV's, I found Brad's really well done Jin-roh video, Signal to Noise. I think Peter Gabriel's (formerly of Genesis) vocals and lyrics make a fantastic accompaniment to that story; it really brings the roiling, writhing emotional conflict quietly into focus
Edit: Oh, I should mention there might be spoilers in here, if you care about that kind of thing. |

I was going through this thread, sadly a lot of the old youtube links don't work anymore.
I recently developed a growing interest for and fascination with AMVs. If done well, I really like watching some after finishing a show I loved. I tend to prefer non-action AMVs that tend more towards drama, retelling of the story (maybe with a different focus) etc. I also enjoy those who work as a trailer for me and make me curious about the anime, or the silly ones who mash up a lot of different shows just for fun. The most important thing, I think, is a solid concept. Just putting awesome fighting scenes to some heavy metal tune doesn't make a good AMV, IMHO. Even the action oriented AMVs should have a basic script in one way or another that goes beyond showing stuff blow up to match the beats of the music. And I really like it when the AMV makes use of dialogue, like this one from youtube reviewer gigguk, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0sYi9GhZHI (contains mostly minor spoilers, but slightly more major ones for Code Geass) And, of course, there's the joy of finding an AMV that blends two things you love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FilFVLV7Kcg (Steins;Gate meets Dr. Horrible) I'd love to make an AMV some day, processing several ideas at the moment and rediscovering the joys of Adobe software. |
