I can't help but suspect that some sort of glitch caused this. It's just too good to be true.

I'm crossing my fingers that Bookscan will show something similar.

Whether or not the "Naruto" ranking is a glitch, I'm surprised "Death Note" cracked the top 150. Didn't think the manga was that popular over here (even though I absolutely love it).

Rank #29 in the US... that's pretty impressive. Is manga really becoming this popular? Funny that this happens right after Al Kahn makes his statement at NYCC saying that "manga will never be a big deal".

Anyone know what arc they're on with this manga? Just curious why this particular volume is the most popular one . .

Yeah, I was thinking about that as well.

I know a couple of people collecting this manga, but that means nothing. I'm very surprised to see this title score so high.

Just shows how small a nut shell Kahn lives in.

That would be great. I wouldn't be surprised to see it getting the highest position ever, but this high does seem too good to be true.

I'm surprised about Kenshin and Death Note getting into the top 120. I don't know that Kenshin has done this well yet? I can't remember a news post where it breached the top 150.

It's also too bad Fullmetal Alchemist seems to have tapered off in terms of top sales. Sad

But I didn't think that Naruto vol 9 was out yet... that it was supposed to be out next Tuesday? If that's the case, then it is surprising me that it was even in the top 150 last week...

Or does this rating including pre-orders?

If so, never mind.... Embarassed

Its during the Chunin Selection Exams, I you'd ask me, I'd say this is where the series really starts to get good.

Either way, its really great to see that manga is getting more popular in the U.S.

Anime hyper, I remember that, proves that he's out of touch. Y'know, if he's in this business "to make a buck", then he could at least TRY any attempt to really research the anime and manga market.

Death Note is surprising, Naruto is not. Considering how well the Anime is handled, as well as Viz's admission in that summit a week back that "manga sells better when its component anime is in syndication" (pp), a poor performance for Naruto would be embarassing.

I'm guilty of Kenshin and Death Note

Viz graphic novels came out super early. There was like 30 copies of Naruto vol 9 last week when I went to Waldens. On the other hand I'm still waiting for new Tokyopop releases, probably be out of business within a few years the way they're going.

ggrrr dasrnit damn forum is showing one post at a time and I cant seem to fix it back to full thread view...anyway Vis is ok more or less manga wise..altho soem of the translations of naurto want to make me stab my eyes out so they can be hit or miss going from one manga to another Vis has realy fallen in the past 6 or so years . Ranma is as perfrect as a dub can be fully trnaslated even the music and its all good the dub side is as enjoyable as the sub side and you cant say that about all anime...Inu yasha is bearable but its overall translation its around the 80'ish% and I feel they could ahve done better and naruto is worse its still ok but between the vocies and some edits it feels like a good 4kids dub Anime cry
Naruto is a low end PG 13 show (yes low end PG13 by the tiem you add up the blood, death, sexyness O-ne Peice is a higher end PG 13...oh what am I saythign thier both not KID friendly thats why thier PG13ish ><) and should be treated as much I cant wiat to hear the soccer mom/ZOmbie parent horror storys when they see thier kids watchign the unedited dvds MA AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH >>

Yeah, that's my first reaction.

Either that, or it was an abnormally slow week for the rest of the publishing industry.
