Saw the English version at its premiere at Sakura-Con back in April - it turned out to be a *lot* better than I was expecting. Smooth animation, good story, good characters, good voice-acting, and some excellent action sequences. They do a really good job at keeping the details straight and not contradicting anything in DA2 and Asunder (the third novel), and although it clearly fits into the Dragon Age universe it's also enjoyable as a stand alone story. I've already pre-ordered my copy, can't wait to get it!

Guess this'll depend on the story. After all, as we say with anime, story is first-and-foremost...............

What is the marketing strategy for this anyway? Will it be shown in theaters in a limited run like Summer Wars was? Or does Funimation expect it will just automatically sell to people who played the DA games sight unseen? I'm one of those people, and I want to see the entire movie first before deciding whether to buy it on disc. Where will I get a chance to do that? On Funimation's streaming site? Cable on-demand service?

I'm interested in this. I haven't played the Dragonage games, but I've heard a lot about them, nearly all positive. Is there a preview for the Japanese version too?

I'll give it a shot. Being a longtime Dragon Age fan, having followed its progress from the very beginning, five years of development hell, I've become deep into it. So I'll give this the benefit of the doubt.
This must be the first time I've seen horses anywhere in the Dragon Age universe. I always assumed they have yet to be brought over to the continent Thedas or their genus Equus didn't exist in this universe. Or killed off by Darkspawn or whatever. Turns out they just didn't feel like putting horses in the game. Course, I've yet to read the novels, so maybe I was missing something. Hmm.

Good to know it stands well on its own. I'm not familiar with the DA universe, but previous preview promo videos sparked my interest in the film. I'm also a fan of several Sori/Oxybot productions (Vexille, TO, Appleseed). I'm looking forward to seeing it on BD soon.
